Dark Children

Chapter 8

"Come on, Dessie!" Hades yelled up the stairs. "We're leaving right now and if you don't hurry we're not going at all!"

"I'm coming!" Dess yelled down the stairs. Harry watched his cousin throw her clothes everywhere in her room. He was sitting on her bed waiting for her to get ready. They were going to Diagon Alley for dress robes and it was Dess' first time to Diagon Alley.

"Dess, you look great," Harry told her for the millionth time. She was wearing tight leather pants and a blue halter top that revealed her whole back.

"Are you sure?" Dess asked looking at herself in the mirror.

"Yes, now come on," he said pulling her towards the door. Dess grabbed her leather jacket, her wand, and followed Harry down the stairs.

"Finally," Hades said exasperated. He handed them the floo powder and Hades apparated out. Dess looked nervous but stepped into the tall fire place.

"Diagon Alley!" She shouted throwing the floo powder down. Harry watched as the green flames swallowed her and she was gone. He stepped up to the fire place.

"Diagon Alley!" He shouted this time not as nervous as he had been before. Next thing Harry knew he was thrown out of a fire place in the Leaky Cauldron. He saw Dess standing next to Hades looking around in wonder. "You like?" Harry asked her. She just nodded smiling at everyone in the small bar. The trio pushed through the crowd to the back entrance. Hades took out his wand and tapped the bricks on the wall. Dess jumped and grabbed Harry's arm as the bricks moved apart to show Diagon Alley.

"Wow," Dess said in awe walking out into the crowded streets of Diagon Alley. Harry smiled over at his cousin. That was his same reaction when he had first come to Diagon Alley but of course that had been with a half giant, Hagrid.

"Come on, Dessie. We have to get dress robes," Hades said pulling her towards Madame Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. Dess just let him pull her because she was still looking around. Harry just followed his two cousins into the shop. A tiny witch was bustling around and many other girls with candy striped robes on were measuring and sewing.

"Well, well, well, Potter," drawled an icy voice. Dess turned with Harry as Hades went to get someone to measure Harry.

"Malfoy," Harry growled out.

"Hello," Dess said pleasantly. Harry just grinned over at Draco Malfoy's surprised face.

"Another girlfriend, Potter?" Draco sneered in disbelief. Dess let out a snort.

"Yeah, if your into incest," Dess said letting out a giggle. Draco just looked from Dess to Harry with a questioning brow.

"Ah, Draco there you are," Lucius Malfoy said stepping up behind his son. Lucius eyes then fell on Harry and Dess. "Desdemona Potter?" He questioned.

"Hello Mr. Malfoy," Dess said pleasantly with what Harry knew to be a forced smile.

"I don't think you've met my son," Lucius said motioning to Draco. "This is Draco. Draco this is Desdemona Potter, Harry's cousin." Dess put her hand out politely. Which Draco took and kissed her knuckles.

"It's a pleasure," he said meaningfully. Dess gave him a polite smile and took her hand back.

"I hear that you are coming to my little get together next Friday evening," Lucius drawled.

"Yes, we're shopping right now," Dess said smiling a fake smile.

"Well, we'll leave you to that. I expect you will look great," Lucius said giving the trademark Malfoy smirk and turning.

"Make sure to save me a dance," Draco said taking her hand again to kiss her knuckles. "Until we meet again." He kissed her knuckles lightly and let her hand drop. As soon as both Malfoy men's back turned Dess shuttered and wiped her hand on her pants.

"Lucius Malfoy gives me the wiggins," Dess said shuttering again. "His son is charming but Lucius is just creepy." Harry laughed.

"Draco charming?" Harry asked in disbelief. Dess nodded and walked towards Hades who was motioning for them.

"It's not like I'm in love with him," Dess went on. "He's very charming though." Harry just stared after his cousin. Harry would just have to quote Josh Gilbert on this.

"Girls," Harry said rolling his eyes and letting the bulky witch measure him for robes.
