Author's Note:
This is my first fan fiction so im hoping this is a good start to what should be a very good story.

Chapter1

It was another dreary day in the same cell he'd been in for twelve long years. He had heard from a very reliable source that the Minister for Magic was coming tomorrow. Maybe he'd have a little chat with him, get a feel of someone from the outside world. He hadn't talked to anyone with a sense of who they were for the past twelve years. Most people go crazy in here; he wasn't really sure why he hadn't, but it was probably because he knew he was innocent. He had been sent to Azkaban without a proper trial, and he found that very unjust. Just because all those muggles had thought they had seen him murder Pettigrew didn't mean that he did.

At that moment, a dementor opened the bars and slipped a plate of food in. The food here was disgusting, but it's what he was used to. He went over to the door and grabbed the offered plate as soon as the dementor closed the door and shoveled it down his throat. He only got food twice a day and it was never enough. When he got ravenous, he'd go out of his cell, transformed as a dog, and sneak down to the kitchens to grab some extra food and bring it back to his cell, where he'd eat it as fast as he could.

When he had finished eating his food, he slipped under the covers of his bed and dozed off to sleep. The next thing he knew, he was awoken by a voice, which meant that the Minister was here because dementors didn't talk. He got up and looked out his cell, just in time to see the Minister of Magic pass by. Cornelius Fudge had a very distant look on his face; he looked like he'd rather be anywhere but there. Sirius noticed that he had something in his hand and realized that it was a recent copy of The Daily Prophet.

"Hello, Minister," said Sirius, sounding distant in his own ears.

"Oh, hello Black, how are you?" said Fudge.

"Not bad, Minister. Yourself?"

"Very well, actually."

"What brings you here today?" said Sirius curiously.

"Bad, bad business, Black... Barty Crouch Junior died, as you may have heard. I'm here to pay my respects," said Fudge, looking annoyed now.

"Well, I won't keep you anymore, then, Minister. Nice seeing you again."

"Yes, you too, Sirius," replied Fudge as he began walking away.

"Hey, Minister?" called Sirius.

"Yes, Black?"

"Could I have that Daily Prophet?"

"Well, I don't see any harm in that, here you go," said Fudge slipping the newspaper between the bars of his cell.

"Thank you," said Sirius, turning to his bed and sitting on it, reading intently.

But when he looked at the front page something caught his eye. There was a picture of what looked to be a normal wizarding family on vacation, but on one of the many red hair boys' shoulder, there was a rat. This sparked his memory and he realized at once who he was looking at. It was the man that he was convicted of murdering 12 years ago... Oh, how many times he had seen him transform with himself, Lupin, and James. This rat was definitely Peter Pettigrew. He, Sirius, would kill this man if it was the last thing he did. He spent a few more minutes reading before his eyelids began feeling droopy. With that, he fell asleep once more. He had a dream about Hogwarts and Peter and remembered mumbling, "He's at Hogwarts" on more than one occasion.

When he awoke, he knew exactly what he had to do. He had to get out of this place and get to Hogwarts and kill Peter. And at that, he transformed into a dog, ran all the way down to the end of the hallway, and somehow found the way out. He was free.

I haven't written the next chapter yet, so it may be a while. Currently working on another story.
