He watched her.
He watched her as she flew through the air- her hair trailing behind her. The same hair that he found traces of on his pillow, little souvenirs of their nights in paradise.
He watched her.
He watched her as her arms raised above her head set to catch the quaffle- the very arms on which he had aspired to count every freckle by the time he died. He knew he didn't have much time- because of the recent turn of events- so he counted religiously every night long after she fell asleep. He counted 1243 so far- and he was only up to the elbow on her first arm.
He watched her.
He watched her as a bludger lunged toward her and his heart skipped a beat- the heart he had only recently discovered. He didn't remember exactly the moment it happened, but recently when he looked at her his heart warmed, not only what was below.
He watched her.
He watched her as she fell from her broom- slowly, gracefully- like a feather floating gently towards the ground. He stood up with a jolt- to be met with strange looks from his friends.
"Just needed a stretch," he said casually, but sat back down quickly.
Pansy placed a hand on his leg- but it wasn't her hand he felt. The hand slid upward and upward.
"G-" he whispered.
The hand froze.
"Get off," he saved himself. "Save it for tonight."
He kissed Pansy's neck and was responded a giggle of delight.
His eyes never left her.
He watched her.
He watched her as she fell right into Potter's arms- a place she was not all too unfamiliar with these days.
"How cliché," he whispered to her- his hands trailing her hipbones. "The princess and the knight in shining armor live happily ever after."
"I'm not looking for a knight," she said.
"So what are you looking for?" He raised his head so they were eye to eye.
"I'm not looking for anything," she smiled. "I have you."
He watched her.
He watched her as the entire pitch broke out into applause at the Hollywood ending- all that was left was for Potter to ride her out into the perfect summer sunset.
It was raining and cloudy; he smirked.
He watched her.
He watched her as she walked back towards the castle- Potter's arm around her. He mouth formed a straight line. His touches always made her gasp.
He watched her
He watched her as she and her "crew" walked towards him, ready to blow past him.
"Hey," she said. She shot him a half-smile.
He nodded to acknowledge her presence.
As he walked away he heard Potter and her brother interrogating her.
"Why were you talking to that git?"
"Is this the first time you have ever spoken to him?"
He wasn't worried about her- if the bastards got annoying she would hit them with her famous Bat-Bogey hex. He knew from experience it was not fun to be on the receiving end.
He watched her.
He watched her as she walked away. She was in Potter's arms now, but that night she would be in his arms- she would be home.
In the day she was the girl who the world wanted her to be. But when the sun set, she was his Queen of the Dark. She was wild. She was free. She was Ginny.
And she was what made him Draco.
