Chapter II: Leaving Home

Summer seemed to whiz by for the girls. They had to tell all their friends that they were off to boarding school. It was the only reasonable explanation they could give. They very well couldn't tell them they were off to a magical school to help invoke the powers they never knew they had. That just wouldn't work.

Phoebe was sad about leaving Grams, but she was happy she was "receiving" new powers. Piper was sad about both. She just wanted to be a normal kid, although she did like being a witch, somewhat. And she would miss Grams soooo much. Prue didn't mind either way. She just hoped that there were some cute boys. Sure she'd miss Grams, but she liked to get away from the oppressing rules that she had to follow. And Leo promised that if Grams to see them. That made her feel better.

It was now August and the girls were packing to leave. "I'm homesick already," complained Piper. Prue took up her role as the older sister.

"I know it's hard," she comforted. "But we'll be there and Grams can come and visit us."

"And Leo'll be there," piped Phoebe. Piper didn't have anything to say, she just kept packing. Each girl was packing a picture of their mom and Grams. They missed their mom so much. Phoebe was only two when their mom died, and their dad never visited.

"I can't believe nothing mechanical works up there," Prue said incredulously. "I wanted to bring up my cd player with me." She had practically flipped out when she found out that she couldn't use it.

Grams checked in on the girls. She would miss them so much. They were the only thing she had left of her daughter, Patty. Sure she could summon her, but her granddaughters resembled their mother in their own way. All of a sudden, she saw a blue orb downstairs. It was Leo. She scurried down the steps. Leo had a tendency to orb in as he pleased. Grams didn't mind. She knew Piper and Leo were meant to be together. It may have been disgusting to think about it if Leo aged, but he didn't. And it wasn't as if she were going to be with him right at that moment. She still had a ways to go. But it was their destiny.

"Are the girls packing?" Leo asked. Grams smiled and nodded her head. The girls would be leaving the next day. "You know Grams, you could come along too. It won't take that long."

"I don't know what if a demon attacks?"

"Then it attacks and you can go back home. It's a little more time with the girls."

"Alright, but take me back home once we're done. I wanted to meet these three kids anyway." Grams went upstairs and told the girls that she would be com8ing with them to England. The girls were so excited. -~-

Harry woke up to a big explosion. He was staying at the Burrow and was sleeping. Once again he managed to "convince" Uncle Vernon to let him stay there. He told him that he would be meeting three witches, very powerful, and if he didn't go, then they would have to come and stay at his house instead of Ron's. Uncle Vernon turned wide-eyed and told him to go to Ron's as soon as he could. So now he was staying with Ron. Today they would be meeting Hermione. Harry was eager to meet the three witches. Ron looked up. "What was that?"

"I have no idea."

All of a sudden Fred and George crashed through the door laughing and patting each other on the shoulders. They looked from Harry's shocked yet sleepy face to Ron's angry face. Fred spoke up.

"Ai, were you two sleeping?"

"No, we were planning to overthrow the world," Ron replied sarcastically.

"Well, in that case, we'll get back to ya. C'mon Fred, let's go."
"What are you two making this time?" Harry asked curiously. He liked the twins despite the multiple blasts erupting from their room.

"We're concocting wands that start to smell and smoke whenever you use them," Fred replied trying to stifle a laugh.

"You know, we were sleeping, and you two woke us up," Ron replied angrily.

"Terribly sorry boys! Wish we could stay, but we got to go back to work. We're extremely busy." The twins ran downstairs laughing until they heard their mother's angry voice and they had to explain what happened. Harry laughed. An ordinary day at the Burrow was always so interesting.

"Guess we better get downstairs for breakfast, eh Harry?"

"Yeah, I'm starved." They got dresses and headed downstairs. They'd be leaving in four hours. -~-

The alarm clock went off in Phoebe's room. She was about to hit the snooze button when Piper came in the door and said in a stern voice, "Oh no you don't! Phoebe Halliwell, it is time to wake up. We are leaving in less then four hours. Don't you want to spend that time with Grams?"

"Of course, but I also want to spend some quality time with my bed. It's going to be a while before I can see it again, and it's not like Leo can orb it to me!" She then threw the covers over her head, but Piper pulled them off. Phoebe just put the pillow over her head. Prue stuck her head in the door. Piper motioned for her to help. Prue grinned. She jumped on Phoebe's bed, which scared Phoebe and she let go of the pillow. Piper took her pillow and then helped drag Phoebe off the bed. Phoebe put up a fight. Then Piper started tickling Phoebe and Prue joined in. Soon they were all laughing. Grams walked by to see what the commotion was all about. She smiled at the sight. She loved it when the girls got along.

"Girls, breakfast is ready!"

"Grams, Phoebe won't wake up!" Prue laughed.

"Well I'm sure after that surprise attack she's wide awake." She winked at Phoebe. Phoebe winked back. "Oh how I wish their mother was here. She would join in so quickly!" Grams said in a whisper. She knew her daughter was there in spirit, but it just wasn't good enough. The girls helped to make Phoebe's bed, still laughing. Then they ran downstairs, Prue leading the way. Prue and Phoebe sat down, and Piper carried a plate of pancakes to the table. She was about to sit down when Prue flicked her fingers under the table, and Piper's chair moved back. Piper fell on the floor, and Phoebe and Prue burst out laughing.

"So not funny! I'll get you for this!" Prue just shrugged. She reached for the milk and started to pour it, but Piper froze the liquid.

"Ah, c'mon Piper! I'm really thirsty!" Piper just grinned and Phoebe attempted to keep a straight face. Piper just kept freezing the milk until Prue apologized. Phoebe wished that she could pull tricks on her sisters. It' seemed like so much fun. Maybe after going to Hogwarts, she'd be able to. Grams walked in and joined them.

"Are you girls excited?" Grams nonchalantly inquired.

"A little," Piper lied. She was way too nervous to be excited. Prue and Phoebe nodded their heads.

"Piper, it'll be okay. Your sisters will be there. I know you're disappointed, but you can't change who you are, and Hogwarts will help to expand your magical horizons. You have to learn to accept your culture." Piper already knew all of what her Grams said, but if it wasn't for magic, her mother was still alive. Piper loved Grams, but she still missed her mother, and Grams couldn't take away the pain of a lost mother. "Piper, could you please come with me for a moment?" Piper followed her grandmother up to the attic. Grams lit a candle and did a summoning spell. A bright light illuminated the attic and Piper's mom appeared. But instead of being transparent like a spirit should, she was solid. It surprised both Grams and Piper. Piper burst into tears and ran up to her mother. She wrapped her arms around her mother and hugged her.

"Hello Piper," her mom gently consoled her.

"Hi mom," Piper sniffled.

"Patty dear, I don't understand," Grams asked confused.

"I'm not too sure myself. But the elders told me to come down and talk to Piper, and just resume my role as the girls' mother. Could you give us a little but of time together, and then we'll come down."

"Of course sweetheart."

"And could you not tell Prue and Phoebe that I'm here yet. I need to spend some time with Piper alone." Grams nodded her head in understanding. She hugged her daughter and then left. Piper looked up at her mom and smiled.

"I've missed you Mom. Everyday I miss you."

"I've missed you too. I wish I could be around, but there's not much I can do about my position." They laughed a little. "Piper, I know you don't like being a witch, but it's who you are. You used to love being a witch. What happened?"

"I don't know. I suppose it's just not the same. I've been thinking for a while that if magic weren't around, then you would've lived. I just feel, I don't know, cursed."

"You won't die honey. It was my carelessness that caused me to die. Your magic is a gift, not a curse. You are one-third of the most powerful group of witches. The elders want you to want to be a witch before you head off to school, so I guess I'll be around for a while." Patty smiled down at her daughter. It was so hard for Piper to be the middle child. Always the mediator between Prue and Phoebe's constant bickering. She was so subtle and rarely ever lost her temper. "Come on, let's go downstairs so I can see your sisters." Piper nodded her head.

Grams thought that the time between Piper and her mother would be good for Piper. They were so much alike. If anyone could help out Piper, it would be Patty. It was scary how much they resembled each other. They even shared the same powers. Piper's powers were more powerful of course. Grams just hoped that Piper wouldn't share the same fate as her mother. She went to the living room to wait for Patty and Piper to come down.

After about 10 minutes, they both descended down the stairs and into the living room. Prue and Phoebe were shocked. "Why aren't you glowing? "Prue asked in total and complete shock.

"Piper has some unresolved issues and the elders wanted me to help out. So I'll be here for a while." Prue ran up to her and hugged her. Just like Piper, Prue burst into tears. "Prue honey, what's wrong?" Prue wiped the tears away from her face.

"Nothing, I just miss you so much!"

"I know. But you girls only have one person to miss, I've got four."

"Who's the fourth?" Phoebe asked sheepishly. She was still sitting on the couch. She was too shy to go to her mom.

"Grams of course," Prue said.

"Phoebe, why don't you go give your mother a hug?" Grams asked. Phoebe shook her head, she was too shy. It wasn't like Phoebe to be so shy. Prue understood. Phoebe barely knew her mother before she died, so she wasn't very comfortable around her. Phoebe was jealous of the attention that her sisters were getting, and so she went over to her mother and gave her a hug. Her mom hugged her back. Patty was so happy to see her little girls again. The time just seemed to fly by, and in a couple hours, Leo appeared.

"You guys...or, uh...girls ready to go? Leo's eyes landed on Patty. "Patty? What are you doing here?"

"I'm here for a little, uh..." Grams cut in.

"Vacation. Sort of. She's here for a little vacation and some quality time with her daughter. I'm surprised the elders didn't tell you anything!" Leo just shrugged.

"I suppose it's because I'm not her whitelighter."

"Come on, let's go pack mom's clothes!" Prue remarked excited. Leo went to get the girls' bags while Grams, the girls and Patty went up to the attic to get some of Patty's old clothes.

"I understand that there was a gruesome pillow fight this morning. Two against one. I thought I taught you girls better," their mom said in a stern voice. The girls looked questioningly at their mother. She usually wasn't like this. "Unless it's two against two, it's every witch for herself!" They all burst out laughing.

"Well you see mom, there's only three of us, and Prue and Piper had to get me up somehow."

"I had the perfect amount of children and I love them all!" She was happy Phoebe was warming up to her so easily. It was hard for all her daughters for different reasons. Phoebe never got a chance to really know her mother. Piper blamed magic for her death, and so now she hated it. And Prue knew her the longest, so it was harder to let go.

They soon had everything packed up in a small duffel bag. Leo was already downstairs with the bags. "I hate to break the little reunion, but we're going to be late. Patty meandered to her mother's side and whispered something to her.

"My daughters are going to be in the care of three teenagers, two of which are boys?" Grams just nodded her head.

"It'll be alright. I'm sure they're well behaved."

"I'm allowed to be paranoid though, aren't I?"

"Yes, but I'm sure the kids are just as scared to meet us as we are to meet them." Everyone joined hands, and Leo orbed them away.-~-

All the Weasleys and Harry were rushing around the house making sure nothing was forgotten.

"Ron, have you seen the floo powder?"

"No Mum. I think dad put it in the blue and yellow jar."
"I thought it was in the purple jar," Harry yelled out.

"You're right dear, thank you." Harry smiled. He was starting to feel like he was a part of the family. A family that he always wanted, but never had.

Once everything was in order, well, semi-order, they stood by the fireplace and went to the Leaky Cauldron.

Hermione was sitting at a table with her parents when Harry and Ron appeared. More like fell in. They got up and grinned.

"Look, it's two-thirds of the Three Stooges." Hermione joked.

"The three what???" Ron inquired.

"They're muggle comedians," Harry informed Ron.

"So, we have five minutes for small talk, then we have to go and meet the three sisters," Hermione informed. Precise as usual. They quickly caught up on what was happening, who they had seen already and what it would be like having three sisters with other "abilities". After a few minutes, they headed outside to wait. Hermione quickly kissed her parents goodbye.

"Come on slowpoke! You wouldn't want to mess up that wonderful plan of yours!" Ron called out laughing. Hermione smiled and chased after Harry and Ron. She was glad they were her friends. They had been best friends for almost five years. She couldn't believe how fast time just seemed to fly. But she wanted to be more than just friends with Ron. Somehow he had gotten cuter. Wrestling with his older brothers seemed to pay off. He now had cut his hair and spiked it. He had dark red tips in his hair and was looking suave. She caught up with them and waited outside. Soon, blue sparks filled the air. They backed up and took out their wands. They weren't sure what was happening, but they wanted to be ready. -~-

Piper, Patty, Grams, Leo, Phoebe, and Prue orbed in front of three witches/wizards who had sticks pointed at them. The three yelled out, "Stupify!" And a blinding light shot out at them. Leo was quick and took an energy ball and deflected the light. -~-

"Whoa, they must be some strong witches," Harry said out loud. "No wonder why Dumbledore wanted them around."

"Well, we didn't exactly give them the warmest welcome." Hermione added. They walked up to the five strangers who seemed to be looking for something. "I'm so sorry! We weren't sure what was going on, we were just trying to protect ourselves, and the spell wouldn't have killed you, just bind your body," Hermione quickly apologized. One of the girls turned around and smiled.

"It's alright, no harm done. My name's Prue. These are my sisters." At that the other two sisters turned around and smiled. They introduced themselves.

"I'm Hermione and the redhead is Ron. The other guy is Harry." The guys just gawked at the sisters. Ron whispered to Harry.

"Man, they are on fire!" Harry nodded in response. Hermione rolled her eyes. She elbowed Ron and hit Harry over the head. They were startled but quickly stood up straight once they realized what they were doing. Prue casually laughed. -~-

Patty smiled. These kids weren't that bad. She looked at her daughters and they looked pleased. She glanced over at Leo who was somewhat peeved. He was still caught up with the fact that the teens assumed that his orbing was dangerous. He was usually a very calm person, but when his whitelighter abilities were questioned, he became tense. He was a whitelighter for 50 years and was proud of his capabilities. "I was orbing," he muttered to no one in particular.

"Pardon?" Harry replied.

" I was orbing," Leo repeated louder. "And it's not dangerous. I'll be orbing in and out of the school throughout the year."

"Oh...well, I'm sorry if we offended you in any way." Piper looked at Harry. He was pretty cute! The way his hair was naturally messed up. If he applied some gel, then he would look even cuter. And his eyes were so beautiful. She could get lost in his eyes. They were so perfect.

Leo looked up at the sky then back at the group. "Grams, we have to be going, the elders need me." He quickly glanced at Piper and smiled.

"Well, alright. I suppose we must be going. Goodbye dears. Don't tire out your mother." She gave the girls and her daughter a hug then Leo orbed her away. -~-

Soon the Halliwells were given their room and chatting. "Whew! That Harry guy is hot!" Piper exclaimed one inside the room.

"I thought you liked Leo," Phoebe teased. Piper rolled her eyes.

"Let's go downstairs and get something to eat, I'm a bit hungry," Prue offered. Patty declined the invitation, she was too tired and decided upon taking a nap. Prue, Piper, and Phoebe all headed downstairs. They ordered some fries and ice-cream then sat down. Prue then notices Harry sitting and talking with another girl who looked like she might be Ron's sister. She tapped Piper and pointed in Harry's direction. "Looks like he's already taken."

"Yeah, oh well. I wasn't expecting much," Piper replied somewhat disappointed.-~-

"Are those the witches you, Hermione and my brother are showing around?" Ginny asked Harry. She still had a major crush on Harry even though she was going out with someone else. But Harry wasn't paying attention. He was staring at Piper. "Harry??? Hello! Are you listening to me?" Ginny waved her hand in front of Harry's face, but he just kept on staring. -~-

"Don't you just love their accents here?" Prue asked her sisters. "They definitely make guys here sound sexier." The girls all laughed.

"So does this mean that Harry's sexier than Leo?" Phoebe questioned Piper.

"He does have amazing eyes though," Prue thoughtfully said out loud.

"He sure does," Piper replied dreamily. She was catching a glimpse of his emerald green eyes. He turned his head as if feeling her looking at him, and their eyes locked for a few seconds. Piper quickly turned away. They kept telling jokes and talking about how different England was than America even though they hadn't been in England for very long. Prue quickly looked over her shoulder.

"Hey Piper, someone is making starry eyes at you." Piper looked over in Harry's direction and noticed that he was either still looking at her or he was catching quick glimpses of her. Either way she was flattered. -~-

Ginny was getting tired of Harry's constant gawking, so she did the only thing she knew for sure would get his attention... she lightly slapped him across the face. Not hard, but enough to get his attention.

"Ow! That hurt!" Harry grumbled rubbing his cheek. "Everyone is so abusive."

"Right, so you can survive a deadly curse, but you can't handle a little friendly tap." Harry grinned, and she grinned back, they both headed upstairs still teasing each other. Once they got to Ginny's room, they hugged, and Harry even gave her a peck on the cheek, but much to Ginny's disdain, they remained just friends. -~-

"I don't know about that Harry guy," Prue warned Piper. "He seemed nice, but he also seemed pretty damn close to that one chick."

"Ugh! You're right, but he's just so cute!!! I can't help it. Anyway it's a good thing that I found out now instead of later, right?" Just then a knock was heard at the door. Piper went to go and open the door. Standing right in front of her was Harry Potter! She was so excited at being in his company.

"Hi Piper!" Harry exclaimed overly happy. She had no idea how happy he was that she answered and looked just as excited to see him as he was to see her.

"Hey Harry," she calmly said trying hard to look like she could possibly careless about him. "Did you need something?" questioned Piper hoping that she didn't sound rude. She invited him in.

"Actually I had a question for you," he shyly replied. Piper looked at him curiously. He was a little hesitant because he wasn't used to asking girls out. She raised her eyebrow in anticipation. He nervously cleared his throat and finally managed to stutter out, "I-I w-wanted to know if y-you wanted to go for a walk around Diagon Alley.

"Yeah, sure, let me just check with my mom first." Piper grinned at him. He nodded his head and waited while Piper went to go and ask permission. She quickly returned and took Harry's arm and left before her mom or sisters could say anything embarrassing. Her mom yelled out after her anyway.

"Remember dear, thank you and good night!" Piper rolled her eyes as the sound of laughter followed her out of the hotel.

"Sorry bout that. Its a little inside joke at my sister's old high school." Harry just looked at her and smiled. "So who was that one girl you were talking to earlier, I assumed that she was Ron's sister." Harry laughed.

"Well, you assumed correctly. Everyone can tell the Weasley's from a mile away. They all have flaming red hair and freckles. A nicer family you couldn't find. They all have hearts of gold. Anyway, her name's Ginny. She's like a younger sister to me." They started walking around aimlessly and talking about Hogwarts. They soon came across two other Gryffandors.

"Hey Harry!" they called out.

"Hey David, hey Kendra! What's up?"

"Not much. Just looking for some people we know. Guess we didn't have to go far," Kendra replied.

"Hey! Who's the hot girl Harry?" Harry hit David.

"This is Piper, she's one of the Charmed Ones." Kendra looked Piper over. She had a crush on Harry. She hated it when other girls hung around him, especially that Granger chick.

"So, you and Harry going out?"
"No, he's just showing me around telling me about Hogwarts."

"So witch, show us what you got, if you're so almighty powerful." Piper didn't know what Kendra's problem was, but she decided that she would blow something up. She looked around and saw a bread roll.

"Harry, throw the roll." Harry looked at her oddly, but threw the roll in front of her.

"No, behind me." Harry shrugged and threw it behind her. Piper rose her hands and blew up the roll with ease. Kendra moved back slowly.

"Dumbledore never told us that you had a power like that, he only told us that you could freeze time." Piper moved closer to her.

"Then go spread the word." Kendra grabbed David's hand.

"Come on David, let's got out of here, I still have to shop for my books this year." He looked over at Harry and Piper apologetically.

"I better go, but I'll see you two around." When they were out of earshot, Piper heaved a sigh of relief.

"She sounds real nice. I've been here for one day, and I've already got someone who hates me."

"She has this uh...thing for me. She gets mad at every girl that hang out with me, even though she's going out with David. She even gave Hermione a hard time until Hermione put a few spells on her. Now she won't get within ten feet of her, which is just fine with me. She's not the greatest person in the world if you're on her bad side. But don't take it to heart. And I suppose everyone has someone they hate. I hate Draco Malfoy, but that's the way things end up."

"So, what else is there to show me?" Piper asked trying hard to change the subject. They continued walking. "So, you wanna know a secret?"

"Sure, I guess."

"Alright, but you have to promise not to tell anyone."

"Cross my heart. I won't tell a soul." They stopped walking. Harry looked into Piper's eyes.

"Hermione likes Ron." Harry just started to laugh. He started shaking his head.

"No way! I don't think so. Hermione thinks Ron's just a friend. There's no way that she likes him romantically."

"Nooo... she definitely likes him like that. I'm sure of it. I could tell by the way she was looking at him. I'm one of those romantic type of girls. And the way she looked at Ron today was definitely love. I know first hand." Harry pulled Piper closer to him. She looked down to avoid eye contact. Harry lifted her chin so she was looking at him. He leaned down and kissed her. She was shocked. But she ended kissing him back. Then she turned away. Since it was her first kiss, she wasn't actually sure what she was supposed to do after she someone kissed her. So she pulled back. Luckily, Patty, Prue and Phoebe came out of the Leaky Cauldron.

"Hey, did you have fun?" Prue asked. Piper was still too stunned to say anything, so she just nodded her head. Patty suspiciously looked at Piper. Phoebe and Prue didn't suspect a thing, but Patty knew better. It was a mother thing.

"So, you two hungry?" Piper looked at her watch. Hours had gone by. She was surprised and realized that she was actually quite hungry.

"Yeah, sure. I guess."

"Harry, you can come with us if you like."

"Oh, I don't want to be trouble." Patty laughed.

"It's not a problem. I really don't mind, and I'm sure neither do any of the girls." Then she lowered her voice. "Especially not Piper." She winked at him. They decided to have dinner in England. Harry and Piper walked behind everyone else talking like the kiss had never happened, but they were holding hands as they were walking.
