- I wrote this story while listening to the radio. I hope you all like it. There's bits and pieces of music, but the theme song is "Somewhere I Belong" by Linkin Park. Please r/r!! I'm a first timer!!!!
Somewhere I Belong
(When this began)
I had nothing to say
And I get lost in the nothingness inside of me
(I was confused)
And I let it all out to find
That I'm not the only person with these things in mind
(Inside of me)
But all that they can see the words revealed
Is the only real thing that I've got left to feel.
(Nothing to lose)
Just stuck, hollow and alone
And the fault is my own, and the fault is my own
I wanna heal, I wanna feel what I thought was never real
I wanna let go of the pain I've felt so long
(Erase all the pain till it's gone)
I wanna heal, I wanna feel like I'm close to something real
I wanna find something I've wanted all along
Somewhere I belong

"Alexandra, please, you have to get out of bed," her mother shouted up the stairs to her. She knew that when her mother called her by her full name, that she meant business.
"All right, I'm getting up," she called back. Her mother, who was standing diligently at the end of the stairs, seemed satisfied, and went back to preparing breakfast.
Alexandra sat up quickly and looked around the room. It was dark, and the moon was shining through the window. The clock on her nightstand read 2 am. She sighed, after realizing that it was all a dream. The sound of her mother's voice up the stairs. The smell of breakfast in the kitchen. She sighed again, and threw her blankets off of her. She slipped out of her dorm and headed in no general direction, with no specific destination. She wandered through the dark halls of the large school, trying to get her mother out of her mind. She hated never knowing her mother the way others did. They all ranted and raved about their mothers, while Alexandra envied them, listening resentfully. She had just begun a new year at Wizarding School. She didn't want to be there, but in some way, she felt more at home and at peace there than she did in her own home. She wouldn't have minded Wizarding School much if she had some friends. For the whole six years she'd been attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she'd only had a few friends, but those friendships faded eventually, leaving her, in her sixth year now, alone. She was a very distant person, and she knew it. She wasn't the type to go out of her way to talk to people. In fact, she rarely ever talked. She wasn't antisocial, just shy, and dejected, not having a group of friends, let alone one. She went down some flights of stairs and stopped when she realized where she was. She was near Gryffindor Tower. The one place she hated most. She didn't hate Gryffindors, she hated how they always got so much attention. How they were all friends, and they were friends with everyone. She had wished for many years in her school career to become friends with Harry Potter and his friends. It was a dream she had for very long. But she soon came to the realization that they had all the friends they wanted, and they didn't want to accept some lowly Ravenclaw. It hurt at first, but she stopped caring. They didn't even know who she was, and it was evident to her that they didn't want to. She kept moving after staring long and hard in the direction of Gryffindor Tower, and wishing, that for once, the sorting hat could have been wrong. She headed toward the front doors, she needed some fresh air, she decided. She remembered as she walked out into the dark night, the only times that she'd ever talked to Harry or any of his friends. She remembered one time in fifth year, she was walking through the Great Hall to the Ravenclaw table, and she bumped into Harry's friend Ron Weasley. She hadn't been paying much attention to where she was going, and Ron probably hadn't either.
"Sorry," she'd said after bumping into him. He simply looked up at her, like she had four heads.
"Are you new here?" he'd asked. She stared at him shocked.
"No, I'm not new, excuse me," she'd replied, pushing past him and continuing on her way. She had been fuming at the time, but she thought it was quite humorous afterward. She walked toward the Quidditch pitch. Seeing it dark and empty for once, was a change from usually seeing it filled with students. She stood for a few minutes, just taking in the quiet. She sighed to herself, knowing she had to get back to her dorm, but not really wanting to leave the serenity that the dark, quiet grounds surrounding the school held. She stared at the sky, counting the millions of tiny shimmering stars beyond her reach. She wondered if her mother could see her now. All grown up and almost through wizarding school. Alexandra sighed again and remembered the time she and Hermione Granger were partners in Transfiguration. Hermione was such a bubbly and exuberant person, and Alexandra was...well...not. She remembered the look on Hermione's face when she'd shouted at her. Hermione had been asking a lot of personal questions about Alexandra's life, and her grades and mostly about the potions homework they'd been assigned a week before. Alex just exploded.
"I DON'T KNOW!" she'd screamed. Hermione's mouth dropped open, and Alex thought she had made her cry. Although, she was very surprised when Hermione didn't cry, but apologized and continued working quietly. Alex had felt horrible, and she apologized many times to Hermione in class. But through everything she said, she never forgot her face.
She started back to the school, walking carefully and quietly in case Filch was on the prowl. The moon that had been visible earlier was now gone, leaving the path in darkness. As she was walking, she slammed hard into something. She cried out and tumbled backward to the ground. She soon realized that it wasn't a something she'd bumped into, it was someone.
"What the..." the person said. Alex could tell from the voice that the person was male. She got even more scared. 'Oh shit, it's probably Snape' she thought. She was shocked to see that when the moon became visible again and lighted the path, that it wasn't Snape. It was a student. She wasn't able to tell what year, but she guessed that from his height, he had to have been sixth or seventh year.
He glared down at her and said, "You scared the hell out of me. What are you doing out this late?" She was still sitting on the cold ground, where she'd fallen, staring up into his face. She began to realize exactly who he was. His white gold hair was reflecting the moonlight, and his gray eyes glinted, waiting for a response.
"I...um..." she stammered.
He interrupted her asking, "Are you a foreign exchange student or something?"
She frowned and said, "No, I'm not new here." She was about to stand up when he offered his pale hand to help her up. She hesitated, but accepted it.
"Then why haven't I ever seen you before?" he asked, referring to her last answer.
"Trust me," she said starting to walk away, "You know me,"
"Oh really?" he asked.
She turned around, gave him a sarcastic smile and said "Yes really. You used to pick on me in fourth year." He looked at her puzzled and she spoke.
"Well as fun as this little encounter may be, I'm going to bed."
"Wait," he began, "I don't remember you. Aren't you at least going to tell me your name?" she had already begun to walk away again, and she turned to face him again.
"My name is Alexandra. Good night," she said. With that she turned and left. Draco Malfoy watched her go and wondered why she was so bewildering to him.
