Harry and Ginny

Chapter 1

The Masquerade Ball

This is a story about two lovers. Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley. Now, before I continue with the story, I should tell you about their families.

Harry Potter's parents died at the hands of Voldemort. They left him in the care of his aunt and uncle, Petunia and Vernon Dursley. Harry's parents were wizards but the Dursleys were the biggest Muggles you have ever seen. They wanted nothing to do with wizards or magic of any kind. But then Harry showed up on their doorstep and they took him in as their own. Even though the stories say the Dursleys hated Harry, they actually cared for him very much.

Now for the Weasleys. They Weasleys were a family of wizards. They weren't very wealthy but they were still members of upper class society. Arthur and his wife, Molly, had seven children, six boys and one girl, Ginny.

The Weasleys and the Dursleys were the worst of enemies. The main reason for their hostility for each other was the obvious. The Dursleys were Muggles and the Weasleys were wizards. So you can imagine the havoc they caused for each other.

This story begins at a ball. A masquerade ball, in fact. Both the Dursleys and the Weasleys were invited. The two families steered clear of each other the whole time. But that didn't stop Harry and Ginny. They were both wearing masks, so they didn't recognize each other when Harry asked Ginny to dance.

"Miss?" Harry asked.

Ginny turned in her seat; surprised that someone would be speaking to her.

"Yes?" she answered.

"May I offer you this dance?"

"That would be lovely."

Harry thought the beautiful woman he was dancing with looked vaguely familiar even with the mask. Ginny thought the same thing for the handsome man she was dancing with.

"You look familiar." Harry said.

"You do, too." Ginny replied.

"I would love to know the name of the beautiful woman I am dancing with."

"And I would love to know the name of the handsome man I am dancing with."

"I asked first."

"Fine. My name is Ginny Weasley."

Harry gasped.

Then he took off his mask. Now it was Ginny's turn to gasp. She now realized why he looked so familiar. He was Harry Potter! The Harry Potter! The boy who survived Voldemort's killing curse when he was just an infant. But that's not what she was worrying about. The thing she was worrying about was that Harry's guardian and Ginny's parents were sworn enemies. If they saw them dancing together.... well...they would scream and shout and who knows what else!

" You're Harry Potter!"

"You're Ginny Weasley!"

Then Harry started laughing.

"Well, what is so funny?"

"It's...it's just that...it's just that it's funny I didn't recognize you sooner."

"I'm sorry. I can't let my parents see me dancing with you. I'm truly sorry."

She started to walk away, but Harry grabbed her arm.

"Wait. Ginny, I don't think we should let our parents dictate what we should and shouldn't do."

"I know but..."

She was interrupted by a very familiar voice behind her.

"Ginerva Weasley! What are you doing? Didn't I specifically tell you to stay away from that...that...filth!?"

Ginny turned and saw her mother rushing towards her.

"What did I tell you?" Ginny whispered to Harry.

"Mother! Mother! Calm down. I didn't know it was him! I swear!"

"Well that just goes to show. That's what his family is best at...trickery! Come along, Ginny. We're not staying where there are people of his kind."

They left with Ginny mouthing "sorry" to Harry.
