Chapter Eight:

"This is Aria Silver for WWN, Wizarding Wireless Network. Up next, we have the new single from a girl who burst onto the scene like a team from the ministry at Mad Eye Moody's house," the voice in the radio said, excitedly. "Coincidentally, she's also my youngest niece. This is Sirena Lupin with 'Dirty Magic'."

Sirena walked through the portrait hole, more than ready for bed. She heard a few strains of her song blasting in the dorm all the way from the common room. She stood and walked into the room with a smirk, seeing the girls singing into their hairbrushes. She stood in the doorway and listened, cringing at the sound of her own voice as the song ended. She yawned and walked over to the bed. Pansy noticed her and turned. "Sirena, is Aria Silver really your aunt?"

Sirena raised an eyebrow. "Where did that come from?"

"Just before they played your song, she said you're her youngest niece."

Sirena shrugged. "I don't know... it's possible. My mother had a lot of sisters that I never really got to hang around because they've tried to keep me away from her family." She yawned again and stretched out on the bed.

"That would be SO cool... I mean, most popular singer and most popular DJ in the same FAMILY. It must be something in the blood."

Sirena winced at the expression. "Must be," she said, suddenly quiet. Pulling the curtain around her bed, she curled up under her covers and, with a wave of her wand, her clothing slipped off of her body and onto the floor. She rolled onto her stomach, burying her face into her pillow. "Something in my blood..." she murmured to herself, pulling the covers tight around her.

Her door burst open. She awoke instantly and curled up tight against the headboard of her bed. Her father stood behind a tall figure that barely peeked out of the shadows. The man stepped a bit further into the light and showed himself to be exactly who the small girl had feared he was.

Remus leaned on the doorframe as Dumbledore reached into the pocket of his cloak, pulling out his wand and a small bottle of a liquid that glowed a violent red. He advanced on the child as though she was a huge magical beast while she looked at him in the same way. He took a few quick steps and pinned the girl against the wall by her throat. He smirked, satisfied with himself. "Well, little miss Lupin,, I think your time is up. I hope you enjoyed it, you filthy beast..." he growled, forcing her mouth open. She whimpered loudly, trying to find an escape. Dumbledore poured the red potion down her throat and Sirena instantly had the sensation that thousands of small daggers were stabbing her all over.

Dumbledore tipped the remainder of the poison into her mouth and let go of her, letting her slide down the wall and land on her bed with a slight thump. "Sweet dreams..."

Sirena shook awake in a cold sweat, whimpering in fear and curled into a ball on the edge of her bed. She closed her eyes again and growled in frustration wither herself. "It's over. You're not scared of Dumbledore, remember?" she hissed, digging her nails into her arm. She shook her head. "Stupid, stupid, stupid..."

The next morning, Sirena woke up with a groan. "That was vivid..." she mumbled, pulling out her journal of dreams and writing what she remembered. She re-read it and went through the rest of the journal of dreams. Finding that it had happened before, she sighed. "Nothing new... of course not," she mumbled, shaking her head. She swallowed hard, her chest heaving in her attempt to hold back the flood of emotion. All or nothing, already. God... I wonder if anyone realizes how frustrating it is to only remember pieces, she thought bitterly.

She skipped breakfast and went directly to Defense Against the Dark Arts, wanting to talk with her father. She stepped in and his head shot up, his face showing slight alarm. "Sirena, you startled me..."

"Oh, payback is such a bitch, daddy. This is nothing..." she said dryly.

He sighed. "What is it, Sirena?"

"I had one of the dreams. You were there... again. I was just curious to know if you knew which poison your friend Dumbledore used so that I could add it to the list of things that I'm immune to."

The older man sighed, his few scattered gray hairs looking more prominent than before. "What color was it?"

"Glowing red... kind of like my vision," she growled.

"Cute," he said, rolling his eyes. "At any rate, it would have probably been extract of a blood flower with ground fairy wings, a bit of asphodel, and boomslang skin."

"You know the recipe so precisely, dad. You would think you had brewed it yourself."

"Dumbledore asked Snape to do it, actually. He ended up doing it himself, for whatever reason, but had to get the ingredients out of Snape's stores."

Crossing her arms and cocking her head to the side, she glared. "And who did THAT for him?"

He sighed. "That's not relevant, Sirena."

"Oh, so now it's not only unintentional when you do something to start a fight, but it's irrelevant when you help someone to kill me."

"Sirena..."

"Save it," she snorted. "I have another question. Is Aria Silver my aunt?"

He looked startled again. "Yes, actually. Why?"

She picked up her things. "Because I think it would behoove me to go see part of my family that won't lie to me." Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she walked out, brushing past a few students on their way in.

Harry looked from Sirena's back to Lupin's tired face. "What happened?"

He shrugged. "She left. Sirena has a temper like that sometimes, I suppose."

Hermione growled, begrudgingly, rubbing a small scar on her arm that had resulted from aggravating Sirena's temper not too long ago. "Quite a temper, indeed..."

Sirena went up into her room and changed into everyday clothes, which consisted of a form fitting black tank top, a dragon hide jacket, and a pair of studded jeans that she'd taken a liking to in a Muggle shopping mall. She grabbed a bag filled with overnight necessities and smiled with the satisfaction of knowing that she and Voldemort were the only two people who could Apparate out of Hogwarts and she'd finally found a good excuse to use it. The world rushed and she found herself just outside WWN headquarters. Walking in, several people rushed up to her, spotting her instantly. "Ms. Lupin, how may I help you?"

She gave a charming smile that she really didn't feel, but remembered Severus' words on her acting ability and kept it up. "I actually would like to see Aria Silver."

Someone raised an eyebrow. "Did we schedule an interview?"

"No. I'm sorry I'm an inconvenience. If she's on air right now, I'll wait. I just want to talk with her."

"No inconvenience at all, Ms. Lupin. We're always ecstatic to have celebrities such as yourself at our studios," a man schmoozed.

Sirena smiled and nodded, hiding her disdain for the sycophant. "So, is Ms. Silver busy?"

"Someone called?" a petite redhead said, walking over.

Sirena couldn't help but to notice the uncanny resemblance. "Are you Aria Silver?"

"The one and only. Pleasure to meet you, Sirena," she said warmly, her coal black eyes glowing affectionately and making her look decidedly out of character for a full blood vampire.

"You too... I think. I wanted to talk to you about something I heard you say on the air last night..." she looked around at the crowd that had swarmed at her upon entering. "...preferably, in private?"

Aria nodded. "We'll go to my office." Sirena followed her up and the woman shut the door behind them. "Shoot."

Sirena wrung her hands slightly, unsure of why she felt so uncomfortable. "You said that I'm your youngest niece?"

Aria nodded. "Your mother was my sister..." she trailed off.

Sirena nodded and was silent for a moment. "I, um... I don't know anyone from this half of the family and I thought maybe..."

"Maybe you could come see us, now that you're old enough to make your own decisions?"

Sirena smiled at her. "Exactly. I mean... I don't know ANYTHING about a whole half of who I am. It really bothers me. Sometimes people ask if I'm playing a role in the vampire community and how the Silver line is coping with a half-blood and I really have no idea what to say."

"Well, there are a lot of mixed feelings about our line. We're the most powerful and your mother was proof of that. Without your mom, some people say we're becoming weaker, mainly because they haven't seen anything from you."

"Why do I matter so much?" Sirena asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Because, technically, you're the heir."
