A/N: Chappy 3! Yay!
~ ... ~ = Dream sequence
* ... * = Flashback
What happened? How?
He was sitting in his compartment with his two cronies, Crabbe and Goyle. Then the truth sank in. His sister was the book-worm! The so-called Mudblood!
'The person that I have been searching for most of my life was right under my nose! The only person I determined couldn't possibly be my sister, was! But now, this has made me see her in a new light. I should have known! She was like Harmonia in almost every aspect. The wit, intelligence, the sharp tongue, the power. I should have known...'
He berated himself over and over. But then another thought passed his head.
'What will she do when she finds out? Will she scream? Father had said that her memory had been blocked since her 6th birthday. The day she was kidnapped. What sort of spell will he use to reverse the negative rays? To undo the memory block? Probably Dark Arts. The only way to do it quickly. But still! Granger?! Well...Malfoy, but that's beside the point. It's just so hard to believe. The day that it happened...'
*It was a beautiful day. Sun shining, birds singing. Perfect. A five year-old Draco was sitting in his mother's garden. A little girl with long pitch-black hair and twinkling green eyes came skipping into the garden and sat next to him on a patch of grass.
"Draco! I'm so happy. It's my birthday."
And the little boy just smiled at her and gave her a hug. Then, standing up, he grabbed her arm.
"I got a surprise for you, Harpy."
She squealed in delight, but laughed at the playful name. He called her that most of the time. Ever since Wilim taught him about the magical creature. He instantly chose it because it fitted her name.
"You sound like that muggle beast... you know, the that squeals?"
"Squeals? Oh! A pig?"
"Yah that."
"Hasn't Wilim taught you muggle studies?"
"Don't be such a swot. I fired Wilim."
"You what? And you didn't tell Father? I hate to be you when he finds out."
"But he won't find out, will he?" Draco said looking pointedly at her.
"Of course not, Drakie-poo."
"Harmonia!"
"You look so funny when you're mad. Now don't be a prat, and show me my surprise."
"Grr..."
"Now you sound like Brutus."
"Ok, let's go."
And he started dragging her off toward Father's side of the Garden.
"Draco. We mustn't go in there! Father told us not to!"
"Oh come on, you're such a worry-wart! You need a little sense of adventure."
"Draco!"
"Harmonia!"
She glared at him, but he continued dragging her off towards the hidden wonders of the other part of the garden. Soon they saw the black gate that symbolized the end of Narcissa's garden.
"Ok, let's go back."
"But what about your surprise, eh? "
She glared at him once more; he just smirked and out of his pocket took out a stick. But once she looked at it closely she saw what it really was. Harmonia gasped. It was a wand!
"Where did you get that!?"
Harmonia just stared at it. Desperately wanting to hold it. To perform the spells she had read about in books that she had stolen from Father's library.
"It's Father's."
"You stole Father's wand!? He'll put you in the dungeons for sure! No food or water for two days! And he'll beat me when he finds out I knew about it!"
"No." said Draco looking uncomfortable. "I just...umm... borrowed it. That's what I did."
"Right Draco. I believe you." Her words laced with sarcasm, still worrying.
"Now, step back."
She scowled but listened and took a couple of steps back and wondered what Draco had in mind. He drew a shape in the air with the wand. Green sparks issued from the wand forming the shape of a keyhole.
"Alohamora!" He cried and Harmonia instantly started talking about the spell, which she learned from Wenham the other day. Wenham was a brilliant teacher, and even let her use his wand for practice.
"Now I'll have to cast a shielding spell...."
"I'll do it!" Harmonia cried, eager to use that smooth piece of wood. She grabbed it out of his hand and the blue light surrounded them both.
"Alright." She said happily confident that the spell worked.
"Ok. Now don't be frightened."
He grabbed her hand and started dragging her off to God knows where. She followed silently through the gate. Suddenly huge fireballs started hurling themselves toward them. She screamed, forgetting all about the spell. He put a hand over her mouth and reminded her of the spell. The fireballs bounced off the blue shield surrounding them.
The whole of the garden was gloomy. Dark creatures moved in the shadows. Harmonia trembled in fright. Gargoyles came to life in front of them. The gnarled trees seemed to move. Draco seemed all too thrilled by this.
The sky above this part of the garden became darker and darker as they walked deeper and deeper into the maze. Green light made the nightmare garden more eerie. Finally they reached what seemed to be in the middle of the maze. A huge red light was shining on some kind of podium.
"Look. This is it. I thought you'd like it."
"Wow." Said Harmonia as she stared into the light, mesmerized. "It's so beautiful."
"Just don't touch it."
But it was too late, Harmonia already was walking closer. Ignoring his protests. She reached out and was surrounded by the red light. Then, she vanished. Draco ran right after her and vanishing too.
He ended up on some street. He saw...things gliding back and forth on some kind of dark pavement. They were different colors and each one looked some kind of metal. 'Cars' He remembered Wilim once calling them. Looking around he saw people, but no Harmonia.
Then he heard a high-pitched scream. Looking in that direction, he saw Harmonia. Being dragged off by 3 men...*
Tears appeared in Draco's eyes. He remembered. It had all been a trick.

Before they knew it, they had arrived at Hogwarts and now were comfortably seated at the Gryffindor table as Dumbledore gave his yearly speech.
"... Now I'd like to announce our new Head Girl and Boy, Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy!"
A burst of applause came from the Gryffindor and Slytherin tables as the new Head Boy and Girl headed toward the Head Table. They absent-mindedly shook hands with all the teachers and sat at their proper place amongst them. Of course the seating arrangements was only for special holidays and feasts. Normally they would sit at their appropriate house tables.
The applause stopped as everyone got a good look at Hermione. All the students sat in silent shock and then the Great Hall exploded with whispers. Hermione and Draco, who sat on both sides of the Headmaster, stifled a laugh. Dumbledore quieted everyone down and the sorting began. The Sorting Hat, which now was placed upon the stool, burst into song.
It is time for you, my dear Wizard and Witch
To be put into a house
Don't be scared, I'll find your niche
So put me on your head
You might be put in Ravenclaw;
Where you'll meet others of your intellect
And skill
Or Gryffindor;
Where all those of courage and bravery will
Fill you in
Or maybe you'll be in Hufflepuff;
Where those, like you, are just and loyal
Or yet again maybe you, like many others, will be Slytherin;
Where cunning and ambition will make you royal
So don't delay and put me on
For I certainly do not con
And I will put you where you will belong!
The song ended and McGonagall stood next to the stool, ready to call names. She pulled the long parchment out of the pocket of her robes and cleared her throat.
"Bones, Victoria"
A girl with long red hair that was in a messy bun walked toward the Sorting Hat. She looked sort of chubby and resembled Susan Bones a great deal. Victoria sat on the stool, looking extremely nervous. It took a minute for her house to be decided.
"HUFFLEPUFF."
"Lisano, Frederick."
"SLYTHERIN."
And it went on and on until only several first years were left. By now, Gryffindor had 3 first years, Ravenclaw had 2, Slytherin had 4 new students and Hufflepuff had 5.
"Marette, Raquelle"
She had ended up in Ravenclaw with a few others. Now the last new student was to be called. Mostly everyone was happy about this. By now, everyone was starving.
"Malfoy, Litania."
At this Hermione turned to Draco with an eyebrow raised. He shrugged and turned back to watching.
"GRYFFINDOR."
Now Hermione was as shocked as everyone in the Great Hall. She turned to Draco again and... burst out laughing. He raised an eyebrow.
"I can't believe it! A Malfoy in Gryffindor! Is she your sister?" Hermione said between giggles.
"A disgrace to the family. And no she is not my sister. Cousin. My sister was kidnapped long ago." He replied.
Oh, the irony of it all. Draco thought sadly. If only she knew... if only she knew.
"Kidnapped? Oh...I'm sorry."
She felt as if he knew something. Something that concerned her. He had a twinkle in his eye, like that of Dumbledore. But she decided that it had been her imagination. She snapped back into reality by the sound of his voice.
"But we will get her back."
"Well, I hope you do. It must be awful. I wish I knew what it would be like with a sibling. You see, I'm an only child. Do you miss her?"
At this Draco Malfoy truly smiled, not the usual smirk but a genuine smile. Hermione was looking at him questionably. Her mind was full of thoughts.
"No you're not. I miss her every day of my life."
His eyes glazed over as if he was remembering something. But by now Hermione was really confused. 'No, you're not? What did he mean by that? I'm not what?
"Pardon?"
"I said 'I miss her everyday of my life.'"
"Oh..."
Get a grip Hermione! Really! You are imagining things. Why would he even say 'No, you're not'? I mean really!
Soon, the feast was over and they instructed the Prefects to take the students up to their respected common rooms. Then they returned to Headmaster Dumbledore.
"Now, I will have Professor McGonagall take you to the Head Living Quarters.
The Head Boy and Girl live together."
Hermione turned to Draco. "I have to live with you? What is the world coming to?"
Now Draco, who thought he was making progress, cursed inwardly. They had been having a nice conversation up until now, when her "Gryffindor genes" kicked in. 'Oh well, I will win her over.'
"You don't like me? I'm crushed."
Hermione glared and started walking after the Professor leaving Draco. With a sigh the latter followed.
