- Okay, so the snogs are over for now. Oh dear, I forgot to tell you all about the trilogy in the first chapter. Well, there’s going to be a trilogy of stories, this is the first one. The second is called HP and the Song of the Patronus, and the third is called HP and the Ring of Light. Lucius Malfoy is getting a little nosy around this time (I said at the castle, but that isn’t true just read to find out…)

Chapter 4: Lucius Noses Around and gets Hurt
Lucius Malfoy balled his fist in anger. Narcissa poked her head into the library. “What’s wrong honey?” she asked him.
“Draco just sent me a letter about Melissa. He thinks she is messing around with someone and someone else knows about who it is, and I will get them to tell me or else.”
“Don’t go messing with any of that girl’s friends! How many times do I have to tell you not to be a thick head and pick on her!! You were definitely the one coming off worse.”
“So what. I don’t care if she is against us.”
“She’s not against me it’s just you,” Narcissa rolled her eyes. “I have to go shopping and you better not go off planning evil things mister.” Narcissa left, and then he called the other Death Eaters and notified Voldemort too.
***
“Ah yes,” Lucius Breathed as they fumbled through Melissa’s things while she wasn’t there. He held in his hands her diary from her fourth year.
“Look at this!” He said to the others. “We can find out some of the things she is up to!” he said smiling.
The Death Eaters crowded around and listened as Lucius began to read.
Dear Diary..
I think I am making the right choice by joining them. I will be forever free, and then I can help others trapped by their evil. I have learned a lot about the LoLK. They have taught me a lot, and Persephone will surely be a match for that evil red-eyed freak that I just want to squish into a pile of…
I want you to know that I have taken the Light Keeper oath and I am one of them now. This is the oath, say it out loud and you are dedicated to the protection of other witches and wizards from the Dark Arts. Here it is.
I am strong
I am brave
I now promise to save
All people
Who are afraid
To make a move
I will forever let
My inner light shine
So that I will lead
Others away from evil
For all time.
Power of the sun
Power of light
Show me the way
With guiding light.
I will forever fight.
I hope you can confide my secret. The Light Keepers will stop them dead in their tracks. Forever.
Lucius Malfoy’s expression changed. “The what?” he yelled
Wormtail interrupted. “I do know LoLK stands for Legion of the Light Keepers and now I’m scared. Who knows what they can do to us!”
“So what,” hissed Voldemort. “They are just children all we have to do is kill them one by one..”
“It won’t be that easy Master,” said Mr. Goyle.
“I just realized something,” said Mr.Crabbe. “They are having an open house at that freak school that they have our kids at! We can find out more there!”
“Good idea.”
***
“I can’t believe they have us up decorating the castle!” yelled Persephone. “I couldn’t get enough sleep because we were up celebrating.”
Harry helped Melissa Hang a large Neptune banner across one side of the room. In the front of the room Misty and Marissa were putting up the coat of arms. The Housekeepers were on extra duty, cleaning up the castle and cooking for the arrival of several parents later that evening.
Melissa got tangled in one of the legs of her ladder. Harry caught her before she fell. “Thanks Harry,” she said.
***
Persephone and the other students stood waiting on the school grounds for the parents. They then saw figures of people arriving over the horizon. The students all filed off to greet their parents.
Inside the castle, a babble of talk broke out. Parents were standing around chatting with the teachers. Lucius sat with Narcissa sipping on his punch. Persephone walked past their table and she felt Lucius staring at her. She wheeled around.
“What are you staring at me for!!” she yelled. “You better watch how you stare at or talk to me because I have just as much authority as your master does.” She grinned, and hurried away. Melissa and Harry had snuck off together again and were having a snogging session in the hall outside the Great Hall. Draco approached his parents with Crabbe and Goyle behind him.
“Hello Mother, Hello Father,” Draco said calmly. Lucius looked up at his son.
“Do you know whom your sister is messing around with yet?” he asked coldly.
“No. But I think Persephone does..” he winced as he said this. He didn’t want to give Persephone away. He was beginning to have feelings for her.
“Was that the girl who just walked past this table?” Lucius asked again. He sat his goblet down on the table and looked at his son closely.
“Stop shaking boy, I won’t kill you. Just get that girl somewhere alone away from the others so my master and I can discuss this with her.”
Draco really didn’t want to do this. He was shaking with fear. He couldn’t give his object of affection away to his father. He just couldn’t.
“Sure father,” said Draco, in a blank voice.
***
“Persephone,” Draco called to her, “I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?” she asked calmly. Draco looked into her blue eyes. “Follow me.” Lucius’ eyes were on his son as he led the girl out of sight and up some stairs.
When they were far from the Great Hall, Draco spilled. “My father told me to bring you up here because you know who is messing around with my sister. He’s going to be coming up here to force you to tell him and he’s bringing Voldemort with him and you---
“Slow down Draco…I am supposed to believe you? All the stuff Melissa tells me about you..”
“I am up here telling you this because I love you!!!” Draco said, his voice rising. Persephone was speechless. “You are trying to save me?” she asked quietly.
“My father is going to get me for this. So do you know?”
“Yes I do. But I am not telling you.”
“Its okay you don’t have to.”
At that moment the air went cold. Persephone wrapped her arms around herself. Draco stood in front of her as they saw two figures approaching them, along with the figure of a snake.
“Thank you for bringing her to us, Draco,” a high cold voice whispered. Persephone took a step back.
“I’m not telling you guys crap!!” she yelled. “Not on my honor.” Persephone reached into her robes and pulled out her wand.
She held it out in front of herself. Draco looked fearful.
“Don’t be afraid boy, I award my helpers, and I kill traitors.” He was smiling.
“Now tell us girl, whom is Melissa messing around with?” Voldemort asked.
“I’m not giving my friend’s secret away to someone who killed my parents.” Persephone whispered.
“You will tell.” Voldemort demanded. He had his wand ready. “Crucio.” White-hot pain filled Persephone’s body. When he stopped, she looked up at him.
“Tell us or die.” He said coldly.
“No.” Persephone reached inside her robes and pulled out a sun-shaped pendant of gold. She held it up in front of herself and Draco stood behind her.
Lucius was grinning broadly. He liked watching people die. Voldemort raised his wand, to perform the killing curse. When he said those words, Persephone held her pendant in front of her face.
The golden sun absorbed the beam of green light and glowed a golden color,
and then the glow ceased. But then the pendant glowed again and a beam of
green came back out of it, but she pointed it in another direction away from
them all and it vaporized.
Voldemort had a look of total shock on his face.
“Ha. You cannot kill the leader of the Light Keepers that easily fool.” She told him. “All of my followers have these. And you wont be around for ever.”
***
Melissa and Harry were strolling down the hall when they heard a scream. They both ran towards it, and Draco lay sprawled on the ground with his eyes open, and shaking. In his hand he held a golden sun pendant.
“The-the-they got Per-per-Persephone and they took her away because she-she would not tell them something about you.”
Draco sat up weakly and winced. There was a cut across his cheek.
“Who got her?” Harry asked
“Voldemort.” Draco said, in a state of nervous collapse. “This pendant is hers.”
Melissa went livid. “How did he get inside?”
“Father helped him.” Draco looked up at his sister. Melissa’s fury was not disguised. Her normally gray eyes were starting to turn to a fiery red color. She stormed past Harry, and he was behind her.
***
Melissa tore open the great oak doors and thundered down the stone staircase. She lit the end of her wand. Harry and Draco were right behind her. As they entered the forest they heard a girl’s scream. They ran over toward it, and they saw Persephone lying on the ground curled into a ball.
“Looking for me freak?” Melissa asked silently. Voldemort turned and looked at her.
“If you want to know who I am with, he’s right next to me.” Melissa said coldly. Then she turned to her father. Lucius glanced at her.
“I hate you.” She said. “How dare you mess with my friend…? Crucio!!”
Lucius’ eyes widened when he saw his daughter’s wand on him, and her cold gaze of fury. Pain spread from the tips of his fingers to the inside of his head. His eyes began to water with tears.
“Melissa stop!!” shouted Persephone. She got up to go to her friend, but Melissa stopped her, by freezing her body so she could not move.
“You don’t know about all the stuff he’s tried to do to me. When I was little he tossed me out of a window on the second story but I levitated back up. He kicked me out of his way once, stepped on my hand, and burned my arm. I am just paying him back for all that pain!”
Persephone noticed that Melissa was crying as she did this.
“I don’t mean to hurt you father, but this is merely to teach you a lesson. All the pain you have given us. You are now seeing how it feels.” Melissa finally removed her wand from him, and he took a deep shaking breath. She approached him and kicked him hard in the side. Draco approached him carefully, then put all his energy into his leg, and gave him another kick. The kicks went on for fifteen minutes. Then they stopped.
Melissa and Draco took Persephone with them, and Harry followed, still shocked at what he saw Melissa do to her own father.
***
Melissa sat wide-awake in her bed, her thoughts currently swimming around in her head. She got up and looked furiously around, and she stood up. She walked toward the window, and looked outside.
“Father.. You are going to regret the day you joined up with Voldemort,” she whispered, looking outside. The wind blew against her face softly.
***
Lucius Malfoy went over his story with Narcissa, who was shaking her head sadly at him.
“You idiot!! I told you not to mess with her and her friends!!” She yelled at him. “You don’t want to listen to me, but I know how powerful that child is. She gets it from me. I have just been afraid to show my power.”
Lucius stared at her. He then stood up and made his way across the room. “What power?” he said, turning around.
“I never told you but women on my side of the family are all telepathic. My mother is, and so is my grandmother, and all my female cousins. That’s why Melissa is one too.”
“I can’t believe that you are telepathic too!” he shouted, and Narcissa jumped.
“I am dear. And calm down. That girl might just show the world a side of our family that the other wizards don’t think there is.”
“And what is that?” Lucius asked.
“That Malfoys are actually nice people deep inside.”
***
Persephone sat on the floor in the Saturn common room, staring into the flames. She began to think of her parents and the way they risked it all for her.
She was the child of light that would save them all, in time being.
She just hoped things would become better between Melissa and her father soon, but everything was just falling apart.
Chapter 5: Draco Joins and Selena’s Past
“Pay attention Mr. Malfoy,” said Professor Smith as she was explaining a zodiac chart to the class. Draco was busy staring at the back of Persephone’s head, and wasn’t absorbing a word the teacher said.
“Please tell me what is so interesting about the back of Miss Ravenclaw’s head?” she asked, and Draco went scarlet. He hid his face as Persephone turned around.
“Hey Draco, do you like me or something?” she asked him. Draco said nothing. She turned back around. Melissa and Harry were sniggering in a corner at them.
“Very funny you two.” She snapped.
“Back to the lesson,” said Professor Smith.
***
They backed up against the wall, tangled in a passionate embrace. Selena could hear herself softly moaning from the kiss. The two of them broke apart to speak.
“I don’t understand why anyone would call you a git,” Selena said with a smile. “Because it just isn’t true.”
“No one has bothered with tying to find out my true sides my dear,” Severus said with a smirk.
“What if the students find out?” She asked him.
“Like they will care?” he said. Their lips met again and then there was some immature giggling.
***
“What the hell?” said Harry, pulling Melissa closer. “Someone is in our spot!!” Melissa looked over there and saw the ends of someone’s long black robes sticking out from behind their area.
“And they are immature!! Listen to that giggling.” Melissa and Harry got closer to investigate, and their jaws dropped when they saw whom it was.
“Oh my god.” Melissa said, with a look of total shock. “Oh dear. The Potions teachers are making out. I think I am going to be sick!!”
The two of them whipped around. Selena was redder than a beet, and Severus’ skin had gone the color of sour milk. The two of them rushed past.
“EWE!!” Melissa called after them. “I am so telling the Headmistress!!”
“That was disgusting Melissa!!” Harry said. “Wait till the Saturns hear about this!!”
***
Draco saw Persephone sitting out on the stands on the Pitch. Her long black hair was blowing around her face. She was holding a golden Snitch in her hand, and the small ball was trying to escape her fingers.
“Hello,” said Draco.
“Hi,” said Persephone. She looked at him curiously. “How come you’re out here with me?” she asked him.
“I have been stuck to you like glue on paper,” Draco said. Persephone looked at him.
“So you are trying to say that you are in love with me?” she asked him.
“Yes I am.” He sat down next to her.
“Persephone you don’t know what I go through at home. My father made me join the Death Eaters and I really didn’t want to. I want to become a Light Keeper.” Her eyes lit up at him.
“Well there is always room for someone new. You have to say the oath first. Persephone reached into her pocked and pulled out a sun pendant, and placed it in Draco’s hands. “Repeat after me Draco.”
“I am strong,
I am brave,
I now promise to save,
All people,
Who are afraid,
To make a move,
I will forever let,
My inner light shine,
So that I will lead,
Others away from evil,
For all time.
Power of the sun,
Power of light,
Show me the way,
With guiding light.
I will forever fight.”
Draco looked down at the pendant in his hands, and it had begun to glow. He slowly pulled up his sleeve and the Dark Mark was gone! He then felt a tickling sensation on his forehead, and felt along a line. It was lighting shaped, but he didn’t care. The evil pressing down on him had finally been lifted.
“Thank you Persephone,” he whispered.
She smiled at him, and in an instant the space between them was closed. Draco could feel her breath against his cheek. He turned her face toward his and their eyes closed as their lips met. Persephone felt a bit startled.
She didn’t expect her first kiss to be so warm and fuzzy feeling, but that thought vanished when she felt Draco’s hand slide gently across her cheek.
When they broke apart, there was a smile on Persephone’s lips.
“I know where we can go to do this without getting caught. My secret room. My Grandma doesn’t know about it, the Housekeepers don’t know, and the teachers don’t either.” she grinned.
“Okay. So where cam I meet you?” Draco asked, his fingers running along Persephone’s arm.
“Downstairs in the dungeons.” She said.
“Why there? Won’t the Neptunians catch you?”
“They don’t care about me walking around down there. They hang around our corridors too, so.”
“Okay.” They kissed again before it was time to go in for dinner.
***
“Traitor.” Lucius Malfoy said coldly. He had seen the whole thing happen.
“He’s going to pay for betraying us and going to the other side.” Lucius looked around the room he stood in. at the round table in the middle of the room, the rest of the Death Eaters and Voldemort all sat around a round table. Good smells came up from the kitchen, for Narcissa was cooking dinner.
“Well, you tried, didn’t you Lucius,” Voldemort replied. “He knows all traitors will die.”
“I don’t think he cares.” Lucius turned away.
Narcissa stepped in. “I warned you Lucius. Melissa was going to get him off your side.” Narcissa pushed a tray with plates on it to the side of the table and began them on the table as the House-elf brought in the food.
“Now I hope you guys are nice and hungry. I made plenty.” She smiled, and then took a seat next to her fuming husband.
Lucius sighed with relief as he chewed on some baked chicken. ‘At least, He thought, ‘I can think on how I will punish Draco on a full stomach.’
“How do you think Draco should be punished?” Lucius asked.
“How about an hour of torture?”
“Nah..”
“Um tell him he’s worthless?”
“NO.”
Lucius got up and began pacing the room again. While he paced, a black owl swooped in through the window, and it held a letter in its beak. It dropped the letter at Lucius’ feet and flew out again.
Lucius picked it up, and then he saw the neat writing of his daughter across the top. He tore it open, and then read out loud:
“Dear Father,
I have chosen what do with my future. Draco and I have chosen to become Aurors when we are older so we can get rid of creeps like you and your friends. And don’t dare try and attack my school because Saberhagen isn’t some little ball that you can play with.
Draco and I have done this for our own good, and the Hall knows. It showed us our future as well as yours. If you stay on the Dark Side, your life will end on the Dark Side. I choose light as the way to go.
I am sorry for this father, but you just don’t get it.
Sincerely, Melissa
P.S. The moment you opened this letter Mother was transported to Saberhagen to be with us.”
Lucius did not know what to say. He was just frozen to the spot. He then looked down at Narcissa, and saw that she was not there. He was shocked.
“They didn’t!” He bellowed.
“You have traitors for children, Lucius.” Said Voldemort.
***
Narcissa put her arms around her children and smiled.
”I had been praying for you guys to save me,” She whispered.
“We’d always come through for you mother.”
“You two are the best children a mother could want..”
***
Selena Spencer sat in her office, readying the next day’s lesson. She loved experimenting with different things, looking for new potions to mix. She had been honored for her discovery of the Menatul Serum, a potion that prevents menstrual pain in women and girls in only one dose before their periods.
Any way, discovering new potions was her pastime. But now she had another and that was spending time with her new boyfriend.
Severus walked over to her and asked what she was doing.
“I am blowing up stuff in my face,” she said sarcastically. He rolled his eyes.
“Should we tell the rest of the school about us?” He whispered.
“I really don’t care about them knowing, but the Saturns and Gryffindors are going to make the rudest comments of all the students.”
“So. To hell with those children.”
***
Persephone was itching for them to start the feast. Harry was staring dreamily across the table at Melissa, and Draco passed her a note. It said: Meet me tonight at 10 k?
She smiled, and stuffed it back in her pocket, and her grandmother stood.
“Professor Spencer has an announcement to make. Selena?” She looked at Professor Spencer as she stood.
“Yes. Everyone— she jerked her head in Snape’s direction, and he stood up. “We are…”
“Dating.” Snape blurted out. The Saturns stared for a moment, then Professor Bolar let out a laugh.
“HAHA!!! Now Slytherin is going to suck like they do!!!!!!” he almost fell out of his chair and the Saturns were booing.
Persephone was putting her thumb down saying, “Boo!! That is gross!!”
Cassidy was laughing with tears coming out of her eyes. Melissa was sniggering from her seat, and Draco had left the room.
The laughing went on for ten minutes. Then they stopped and Selena spoke again.
“That may sound like bad news and it definitely is. “I will not be running the class tomorrow, he is.” The Saturns looked just as shocked as the Gryffindors.
“Yes, and you children will not bother me in anyway—he was interrupted.
“I’m going to get put out,” said Persephone. “I am always the one standing outside in the hall outside the door with detention. I’ve gotten more detention from her than any student in this school, even before I was even old enough to attend class so….”
Misty and Marissa wore identical evil grins. They winked at Fred and George. They were going to plan a prank later. Cassidy sighed. “And my sisters have had more letters from the Improper Use Of Magic Office than any other children in the wizarding world, so you better watch where you sit and walk,” Cassidy said truthfully.
“Yes,” said Selena, “they dyed my hair a ridiculous color last year,” she said. The Saturns burst out laughing while the Neptunians scowled.
“Yeah and that was the funniest thing to ever happen.” Said Professor Bolar.
“Shut up.”
Everyone ate dinner, and then it was time for bed.
***
It was about ten o’clock that night before Selena went to bed. Severus was in the classroom putting final touches on his lesson plan for tomorrow while she sat there thinking. She sighed and picked up a picture of a woman hugging a girl with a lot of acne and extremely oily hair, and her lavender eyes looked so happy.
A tear ran down her cheek.
“Mother,” she choked down, trying not to cry. “Why did I to do this to you? Why?” and then, she had a flash back, of her life as a schoolgirl, mainly her seventh year at Saberhagen, and her mother was the Potions teacher at the time. She remembered what she did when she joined them, as a test.
“Ohhh if it isn’t the Spencerat!” a girl’s taunting voice said. Selena looked up and she saw the face of Stella Ravenclaw, the girl who would be Persephone’s future mother.
“Leave me alone,” she said sadly.
“And why is that?”
“Because I haven’t done anything to you Ravenclaw. Shove off.”
“You can’t tell her to shove off! She’s valedictorian and Head Girl! And what are you?” snapped Margaret Anderson.
“The daughter of a Potions teacher, the most loathed subject in school.”
“Yeah, that’s what you are,” Said Stella again. Her and her friends rounded on Selena, and Margaret punched her in the stomach.
“Hahaha Hahaha!! Look at the Spencerat cry to her mother!! Hahaha!” they said as she ran off to the castle, with tears spilling over her eyes.
***
“Mother!!” She called shrilly, running down the stairs. Leann Spencer poked her head out of the door and then turned and had her arms open, ready to hug her daughter.
“Leenie what’s the matter?” she asked.
“It’s Ravenclaw and her friends, Anderson, Bailey, and Inoue,” she said tearfully.
“Girl I have told you not to let them get to you. I want you to punch them when they hit you. Hex them if you have to.”
“But she’s the Headmistress’s daughter, I can’t hit her! I’d get detention for the rest of the school year if I do that!”
“But you would have defended yourself,” she said. “Majel may be sometimes thick when it comes to her child bothering people but when she sees you pained like this she’ll get her.”
“But Mother..”
***
Selena walked with her hood over her head, with her eyes still wet with tears. It was a week after graduation and she was training to take her mother’s place as the Potions teacher, because her mother wanted to do other things with her life besides teach.
All her foes had been married. That Margaret married Jonathan McManus, a boy she didn’t like, his red hair and freckles got on her nerves. Stella married Joseph when they found out she was pregnant before the wedding, and he didn’t know that her baby wasn’t his. Miyako married Michael, and because with her family it was traditional for a man to drop his name when he marries, he became an Inoue. She was not married, and even her Neptune friends got married. She was alone.
She then saw the group of young men walking silently. They were all the people who turned out to be Death Eaters, and she followed them.
Lucius noticed her and he turned saying, “What do you want girl,” very rudely.
“I-I-I want to join you.. I have looked at him as being my role model..” she said calmly.
“Don’t be nervous girl,” said Peter. “He won’t bite you. You just have to do something that proves you are evil enough to be a Death Eater. But choose carefully. You may get stuck for life.”
“I want this.” She said.
She screamed as the Mark appeared on her skin. When the pain subsided, she just lay there thinking,
What the hell did I just do???
***
Selena was so furious under the Dark Lord’s control. She went up to her mother’s home, and stormed in through the door. Her mother was sitting in her sitting room, singing a song. She didn’t hear Selena standing behind her.
“Kill her now,” said Voldemort’s voice in her ear. Kill her.”
“But I can’t..” Selena said sadly.
“Do it or I will.”
“But..”
“Obedience girl! You will show me if you have it! Do as I say!”
“But Master..”
“I killed my own father, it wasn’t hard for me to do it, now you do it!”
“I can’t!”
She took a deep breath. ‘Look Lena, you asked for it. Now you must do what he says.’ A voice in her mind said.
‘Mother, forgive me for doing this..” she said.
“Avada Kedavra.”
The beam of green light burst forth, and Selena’s eyes widened in horror.
“MOTHER NO!!” she then looked at her mother’s lifeless body and turned away, as the Dark Lord was telling her to do so.
‘I’m sorry mother.’
The chapter has ended.
A/N#2
Did anyone know Selena was a Death Eater? Well, she was. She thought it was the only way she could be better than those who bullied her when she was younger. But there’s more to come in my stories after the trilogy, the ones about Persephone and the gang’s first through fourth years, and then I will go back farther to the days of her mother, and everyone else.
Draco makes a big choice.
Persephone can hardly believe it, and then things began getting fisher with more snogs. Selena and Severus get caught in the middle of a snogging session. (HeHe) by guess whom?
Thanks to everyone and please please review with more than one word!! I notice that people have been reading my fic but not reviewing!!!!
I hope everyone enjoyed the fic!!
