Chapter 3: Love and Quidditch
Hermione turned sharply to look behind her and Ron. Her eyes widened when she noticed Harry was missing. “Ron, Harry’s not here!” she said, with a panicky voice. “He must’ve gotten left behind!”
“Chill out Herm,” said Ron, looking around. He spotted Persephone.
“Persephone, Harry got left behind!” he called out.
“I know, because Melissa did too. I would go back for them but I just can’t push myself to break a rule.”
“PERSEPHONE!” Ron and Hermione yelled. “Do it!”
“Okay, I’ll go.” Persephone turned on her heel and ran back down the corridor.
“I can’t believe they left us Harry, I’m so scared.” Melissa stood near the door. “I hope they realize this has happened!”
“Yeah, me too,” said Harry, who was really too busy staring to hear what Melissa had said. Melissa blinked.
“Harry are you staring at me?” she asked curiously.
“Yes, and I like what I see.” There was a smirk on his face.
Melissa flushed a deep red. This drew more comments from Harry.
“You are cute when you’re blushing like that,” he whispered.
“I can’t believe this is happening. That stupid Oracle back in first year was so right,” she trailed off.
“If they do leave us behind I won’t really care, as long as I can stay with you,” Harry whispered. “What Oracle?”
“The Oracle of Dreams. There’s only one of them left, and it is currently here. It shows your deepest and most desperate dream, and I didn’t think it was telling me the truth. But it was right.”
Harry walked over to stand next to Melissa. He let his fingers trail up her thigh and rest on her hip. Melissa’s eyes were on his hand, and she made a soft squeal of surprise. Harry roughly grabbed her and pulled her closer to him, and their lips met. Melissa felt herself melt as Harry wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close.
“Mmmm…Harry. Someone’s coming. I can feel them,” she got in through their kissing.
The door of the Potions classroom slowly opened. It was Persephone.
“Oh my god,” she said, stamping her foot. “That is so adorable! I really didn’t want to come in, cause I knew this was what I would find on the other side of the door!”
The day progressed on, and soon at dinner everyone was tired. Hermione had about seven homework assignments, and she was glad when her plate was filled with food. She stuffed her face, and with out saying bye to Harry and Ron, she rushed to the library with Timothy.
“Oh dear,” sighed Cassidy. “We now have Mr. and Mrs. Smart Ass,” she mumbled. “They are forever in the library and it is only the first day back, and the teachers around here love making us work…” She sighed.
Ron looked around, and he noticed Harry was not there. He got up and decided to go to the library to start on the essay Professor Spencer told them they had to do on Truth Potions. He was on his way there when he saw a boy with dark hair rush past him and it was all neat--- tidy! He shook his head, and the boy then glanced up, and pushed back his bangs.
“Harry is that you!!!” Ron blurted out. “You—You look different!”
“It’s my hair isn’t it?” he asked. “Timothy let me borrow his straightening comb, and its effects are permanent!”
“Harry, are you trying to impress a girl?” Ron asked curiously. “I’m trying to get Cassidy to notice me.”
Timothy came walking out of the library with Hermione. They were holding hands. “Hi guys,” said Hermione. “And Ron, if you are trying to impress Cassidy McManus you better not let her see you in the library. She hates the place.”
“Here, you can borrow this book about Truth Potions,” said Timothy, as he handed Ron a heavy brown book.
Harry walked down the stairs, and he stopped in front of a huge portrait of a navy blue dragon. Draconius opened one sleepy eye and woke up.
“PASSWORD!” he bellowed.
“Flabbergasted,” said Harry. Draconius blinked. As he swung aside, he wondered, ‘How does he know our password?’
Harry made his way through the portrait hole and stood in the corridor, and he could see a blue light, and he heard laughing.
Then he heard footsteps. What if the Neptunians caught him in their corridor? Harry stood still and then he heard Melissa’s voice.
“Draco it is none of your business where I go at night,” Melissa yelled. She walked out into the corridor past him, and then she turned.
“Come on Harry.” She grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the corridor. Draconius yelled rude words at them for waking him up.
“Shouldn’t you brats be in your fucking beds!” he yelled rudely. Melissa scowled.
“You have to ignore him,” she said. “He has issues.”
They ran down the Neptune corridor and up the stairs. Once on the first landing Harry abruptly seized Melissa by the shoulders and kissed her hard as he felt a shiver of pleasure tingle through her. He then moved over to her ear and began to nibble and suck on it. Melissa let out a moan of pleasure.
She wrapped her arms around Harry’s neck as he continued to nibble on her ear. He made his way back to her lips and gave her a long kiss.
Harry moaned as the soft velvet of Melissa’s tongue outlined the ridge of his teeth. “I love you Harry,” Melissa whispered when she finally pulled away.
“I love you too,” said Harry, and he trailed off.
Timothy sat awake in his bed, rubbing his eyes and complaining that he couldn’t sleep. So he made his way downstairs to hear Ron and Hermione arguing.
“It is two in the morning and Harry isn’t here! Now what the hell could he be doing at two a.m.?” yelled Hermione.
“I don’t know but you need to quit tripping Herm,” Ron said calmly.
Just then Harry waltzed in, with the collar of his robes looking a bit muffled and his cheeks were flushed a rosy hue.
“Harry where were you?” asked Hermione.
“I was out okay. Sheesh Hermione, stay out of my business. I don’t go around asking you that stuff...” Harry snapped.
Persephone spoke up. “Chill out Hermione. What ever Harry is doing (she winked at Harry) it's okay.” She stood up to stretch. “Well, we better get to sleep because we have to get up in the morning.” She walked upstairs and out of sight.
“Spill it Harry,” demanded Hermione. “Tell us where you were.”
“No.” He rolled his eyes. “I don’t have to tell you anything. You will find out soon or later,” he hissed, and he turned and went up the stairs.
“I think he’s messing around with a girl,” Ron said quietly.
Hermione harrumphed and stormed up the stairs to the girls’ dormitory.
Harry made his way into the Great Hall the next morning at breakfast. Melissa was smiling at him and he winked at her. She grinned, and then Draco, Vincent and Gregory made their way to the table.
“Melissa what the hell are you smiling at?” Draco snapped.
“None of your business.” She smiled at him as Professor Ravenclaw stood up to make the morning announcements.
“On October 16 we have our annual school Open House. We have already sent letters to everyone’s parents informing them of the joyous occasion. And then we will be showing out our Quidditch line up, what house is going to play whom, and all that wonderful stuff. If you want to see the line up, check the bulletin board in the Entrance Hall. That is all. Tuck in.”
“AAAAHHH!” screamed Persephone as she saw the line up on the bulletin board. “We have to play against Neptune! Now Selena is going to try her best to hurt me so I can’t play and then it will be an easy victory for Neptune. I don’t think so.”
Cassidy laughed, and then Misty and Marissa showed up.
“Hey Sephie, we have to practice later. On the pitch at 7:00.”
“Okay. I’ll be there because there is no way Neptune is winning that match Saturday,” she said. “Selena’s got another thing coming!” she yelled.
Melissa leaned against the softness of Harry’s chest right outside the Neptunian locker room. “I have to practice you know...” she whispered. “Because I’m on the Neptune team and I’m Seeker. You can meet me here later after you have seen everyone else leave the area. Then...”
Harry smiled and let his hand trail along her cheek. “I don’t think I can wait that long,” he breathed. “Kiss me...”
She gave him a kiss, squeezing around his middle, then she pulled away and trotted off to the locker room, with her long ponytail swinging behind her. She winked at Harry as she entered the locker room.
Harry sighed as he turned to leave. He then wondered how long the fact that they were dating would remain secret.
Persephone sat on the bench with a bored look on her face. Thomas Anderson, the team captain was boring her into one of his drills on how she should catch the Snitch.
“I know how to do that already Tom,” she hissed. “I’m the one who makes Neptune suck anyways.” She sighed heavily.
The Saturns all looked bored. They were slouching down on their seats. Misty and Marissa were shining up their clubs. Annie was holding a Quaffle in her hands bouncing it on the floor. The other two chasers, Andy and Sandy (they are twins) were looking bored and Timothy, the Keeper, was snoozing away on Annie’s shoulder.
“All right, lets go out onto the field!” Thomas said. Persephone grabbed her broom and the team formed a straight line as they went out.
Selena Spencer rolled her eyes. That Bolar was in her office again, telling her how they would lose the match on Saturday and frankly she didn’t care about him. But when he left, she began to cry.
“He just likes taunting me.. I wish he’d stop...” She buried her face in her arms and continued crying when she heard a voice.
“Selena what’s wrong?” the voice said.
Selena looked up and saw Severus Snape looking at her. She felt a quiver go down her spine.
“Professor Bolar keeps telling me that my house sucks...” She began to cry again. Severus walked over to stand next to her again and he looked into her lavender eyes.
“Don’t let that idiot bother you.” Their faces were inches apart before Severus planted a kiss on her lips.
Melissa shot through the air after the snitch. She could hear her teammates whizzing around, handling the Quaffle. She couldn’t concentrate as she saw Harry looking up at her with those sexy green eyes of his. She nearly melted off the broom into a puddle.
“Stop staring at me!” she mouthed to him, and that just made him stare longer. “Oh well,” she said to herself.
She ducked out of the way as a basketball sized Bludger zoomed past her. She hoped practice would help them come Saturday.
Natasha Simmons sat on a broomstick high above the pitch. She was talking into a huge megaphone as people came to take their seats. A green chalkboard floated beside her, and it had golden chalk words written on it:
SATURN:0 NEPTUNE:0
Harry, Ron and Hermione took seats in the front of the Saturn stands. The children from the other houses were there too, Jupiter, Uranus and of course, Neptune.
After everyone was seated, the teams flew out onto the Pitch to begin the match. The referee Madam Anderson blew her whistle and threw the Quaffle into the circle of Chasers.
“And Annie Smith of Saturn catches the Quaffle easy does it---now she’s flying toward the Neptune goal posts---Ouch!! Bludger work by Sydney Anderson of Neptune!” Natasha sighed. “Oh my! Here comes Misty with her club! Smack in the face! Hostile hostile people!”
As Natasha went on talking, Persephone looked around for the Snitch. She saw a flash of gold on the other side of the Pitch and so she went after it.
“Sandy has the Quaffle! She shoots…she scores! 10 Saturn to 0 Neptune! Annie now has the Quaffle and is being triple chased by the Neptunian Chasers! They steal the Quaffle…Oh my...Out of bounds! The Quaffle is not supposed to go in the Teachers box!”
“Man do they suck,” said Ron. He looked up again and saw Annie zoom past again. She made another goal and then when she got the Quaffle back she scored again.
“Annie scores again! Oh dear the Neptuians have the Quaffle again! Oh dear! Neptune scores! The score is now 30 Saturn to 10 Neptune!”
The Neptunians were showing no mercy. They kept getting the Quaffle and scoring. Timothy was trying his best to keep them from scoring, but they kept catching him off guard.
“Oh dear, this may be a terrible defeat for Saturn if Persephone doesn’t capture the Snitch before Melissa does!” shouted Natasha.
Persephone saw the Snitch appear out of nowhere, and she shot after it, her and Melissa were gaining on it, she knocked Melissa out of the way, her fingers closed around the small ball, and she did it! The Saturns were yelling themselves hoarse.
Cassidy grabbed Ron and was squeezing the air out of him. “We won! Neptune sucks!” Ron was smiling.
Harry waited patiently for Melissa outside the Neptunian changing room. When she finally came out, she looked a little sad.
“I’m sorry we didn’t win,” she said, trying not to cry.
“I didn’t care about you guys winning. I cared about you out there, you were the only thing I was paying attention to,” Harry said with a warm smile. Harry put his arms around her and held her close. “As long as you are okay, so am I.”
Melissa couldn’t reply. All she thought about was his kindness. ‘He really does care about me,’ she thought.
