- Author's Note:
- I wrote this fic after seeing a just wonderful picture of Ginny. Sad enough, I have lost it and can't find it back, but it was a really beautiful one. This is about what I think Ginny can become when she's out of school. I hope you like it, please leave me a review if you do, and please review when you don't as well, because I'd like to know what you think I'm doing wrong.
"And how is our dear hero doing? Is he surviving in a world where nobody´s staring at him or asking for his photo?" asked Draco sarcastically.
Ten years ago, when he had first seen her at Flourish and Blotts, he could never have thought that he once would sit next to her and talk to her. But well, much things had happened since then...
"Aw, Draco, take him seriously. He really liked the time with those Muggles," answered Virginia Weasley, nicknamed Ginny, smiling at him. Her dazzling smile competed with the diamond engagement ring on her finger, and immediately Draco´s expression hardened.
"A ring?"
"He asked me a week ago to marry him," said Virginia with a dreamy expression on her face, but Draco knew it was fake. When she wanted it, Ginny could look like the angel that many people thought she was. But underneath that was who she really was: a beautiful young lady who played with men like they were toys. It surprised him that Harry had been able to catch her, but he also wondered how long she would remain
being caught. When would she tear loose and be free again? Virginia wasn´t made to marry... she was made for risky adventures, passion in the dark. She was made to become filthy rich because she was so intelligent and gorgeous, but always stay single. That was Virginia, and it surprised him that Harry hadn´t seen it.Maybe he should tell Harry... but the guy probably wouldn´t believe him. Although he had changed in the past years, and Harry knew all about it, he still thought somewhere deep inside that Draco Malfoy could not be trusted. And maybe he was right...
A smile lit up his face, and Virginia smiled as well.
"Of course you´re invited for the engagement party... believe me, it will be a big party. He has the money for it, so why not?"
"I wouldn´t want to miss it," answered Draco, "But I do hope that the party is not today, because I really have to go now."
"I expect you tomorrow evening, seven o´clock, in Harry´s villa," she said with a playful grin, and he nodded and got up.
"See you tomorrow."
If he had anything to say about it, it would be an interesting party.
Draco checked his clothes, and he knew he looked good in his black trousers and dark green turtleneck. He always wanted to look good; who knew who would be at
the party... at the moment he was single, and he needed some company. Of course the hostess herself would be the best choice, but he didn´t know whether she´d break the bond between her and Harry already."Draco! There you are!" squealed Pansy, but he shook her off. Why had they invited her? Virginia hated her, and he didn´t think that she and Harry had a sudden but deep friendship.
"There´s our guest of honour," said a low voice behind him, and when he turned around he saw Virginia, gorgeous in a champagne-colored gown. He was never jealous, but the fact that an ugly little Auror could call her his fiancé wasn´t right. She should be free.
"It´s an honour," he answered, and he kissed her gloved hand. He could be gallant if he wanted to...
When he looked up, he saw Harry next to her. He looked almost defensive.
"Malfoy," he said with a short nod.
"Potter. I suppose I should congratulate you."
"That´s possible, yes," answered Harry dryly, and he took Virginia´s hand. Together, they walked over to greet Hermione, who had just arrived. Draco´s lip curled. That Mudblood... even if Virginia would be faithful, he wondered whether this marriage would be happy. Ron was dead, but Hermione would always stand between Harry and Ginny. But why did he care? Virginia was Virginia and she would destroy this dream of a marriage before Harry would even think about sleeping around.
This was boring. He had stood here for several hours, talking with other people and drinking champagne, and there didn´t happen anything, except for everybody becoming more and more drunk. Maybe in a few moments somebody would start to sing, or even dance on the table, naked... some people had drunk more champagne than good was for them. Virginia wasn´t one of them.
Suddenly he felt a cool hand on his arm, and he knew it was her. Maybe something would finally happen... it was unbelievable that a party, organized by her, could be so boring.
"Come with me for a second, I have to ask you something about the wedding," she said softly in his ear, and he nodded. He saw her looking around her, but he himself didn´t care whether Harry saw them or not. It seemed like her fiancé was nowhere to be seen, and they went through a door. Ginny walked through the corridors, and Draco followed her, without knowing where they were going.
Finally they reached a door, but when Virginia turned around to say something, he didn´t even let her open the door. Her hands found their way to his neck and his to her waist, and he lowered his mouth to hers.
"What the hell do you two think you´re doing?" a voice shouted suddenly. While Draco turned around, he thought that Harry probably wasn´t able to think of something better. It sounded so very cliché that he nearly got sick of it.
"Let me think," he answered dryly, "I was just kissing your fiancé. After that I wanted to get rid of that beautiful but far too covering gown, I might bring her into that room and then..."
"I get the point," answered Harry furiously. "Malfoy, I want to talk to you. Now. And you..." He looked at Virginia, who smiled innocently and brushed her gown to make sure that it was still all right. "I... please leave."
With a grin, Virginia Disapparated, and Harry looked at the place where she had stood with a hopeless expression on his face. Draco nearly felt pity for him... nearly. Harry was so bloody naive that it was hardly believable.
"Let me guess... you want to kill me?"
"Could you stop your bloody sarcasm for just one time? Ginny is my fiancé! I planned to spend my whole life with her, she´s the most beautiful and loveliest woman I´ve ever seen, and suddenly you decide
to barge in and take her away from me.""Wrong," answered Draco calmly. "Just that you´re calling her Ginny, says enough. You don´t know her, do you? She´s one of those beautiful, intelligent women who just are too much for one man. If I hadn´t been the one, it would have been someone else, probably also before you two were even married. The men who would have been her lovers before you´d even find out are probably countless."
"So I suppose I should thank you for nearly shagging her?"
"You´re right. You just don´t see who Virginia really is. No angel, no sweetheart, but a woman who´ll probably break more hearts than Hermione got good marks. She doesn´t know real love, so you should never marry her. Virginia isn´t a nice virgin by any means."
With those words, Draco left the building, searching for Virginia. He had stopped Harry before he would have done something really stupid, he had done what he had planned, and now he wanted to have fun.
And who was better for that than Virginia?
