"Why don't you be my girlfriend. I'll treat ya good..." Ron sang to himself. Ron was preparing to tell his long time crush how he felt about her. The only problem was, he didn't know how to do it. Whether it be telling her in person, note, or even a song. "What would Hermione appreciate more?" he muttered softly. He decided to go talk to his best friend of five years, Harry. Hopefully Harry knew what the right thing to do was. So, at that moment, Ron got off his four-poster and headed out to seek Harry. He was in the Gryffindor Common Room. "Hey Harry, I have a query."
"Sure, what is it?" Harry asked.
"Well you how I like Hermione and all. Well, I'm at the point where I can't take it anymore. Every time I see her, I can't take my eyes off of her. My hearts starts pounding and she is always on my mind. I'm going to ask her out. The problem is, I just don't know how. I have some ideas although. This is where you come in." Ron bluntly stated.
"Okay, what are your ideas?"
"Either telling her in person, a note, or even a song that I have."
"Well, Ron, all I'm going to say is you have to figure this out for yourself. I'm not the one liking Hermione. I can't tell you what is best for you. It's all up to you. You'll do great. Don't worry." Harry explained to Ron.
At this, Ron left and went to sit alone and decide what to do. For a few hours he pondered on and on, on what to do. Finally he decided what to do. Since he was such a nervous boy, he figured that if he told her in person, he would make a total fool of himself. So he decided to write a song for her. A perfect one at that. He took out his quill and parchment and began to write. After about an hour of writing he finished. He folded up the paper neatly and wrote in the best handwriting he could, Hermione on the front. He set off to go give it to her.
"Hermione, I um... have something for you." Ron said, nervously. He handed her the piece of parchment.
"Thanks, Ron." Hermione said.
" No problem. Well I have to go now. Um bye." Ron quickly walked away so he didn't have to watch Hemione read it.
Hermione delicately opened the parchment and it, it read:
I don't know why
But girl it seems
You've touched my life
You're in my dreams
You're in my heart
I'm not myself
When we're apart
Something strange has come over me
A raging wind across my seas
And girl you know that your eyes are to blame
And what am I supposed to do
If I can't get over you
I come to find that you don't feel the same
Cause I'm falling falling
Girl I'm falling for you
And I pray you're falling too
I've been falling falling
Ever since the moment I laid eyes on you
I loose my step
I loose my ground
I loose my self
When you're around
I'm holding on for my life
To keep from drowning in your eyes
Girl what have you done to me
To make me fall so desperately
To think that I don't even know your name
No, no
How am I supposed to live
If I can't get over this
You decide that you don't feel the same
Cause I'm falling falling
Girl I'm falling for you
And I pray you're falling too
I've been falling falling
Will you stay or will you go
Heaven, heaven knows what my future holds
Questions, questions linger on my mind
Day break from day break to dark of night
I'm falling I don't know what's come over me
Can't you see that I'm falling falling
Girl I'm falling for you
And I pray you're falling too
I've been falling falling
Ever since the moment I laid eyes on you
Hermione, will you be my girlfriend?
-Ron
Hermione stared at the parchment for a few minutes. She was very flattered by this. As she walked back to her destination, the common room, she pondered on and on, on whether she should become his girlfriend or not. She finally figured why not? What could possibly go wrong? Ron is a great person. They have been friends for ages now. They would be the perfect couple, wouldn't they? When she stepped into the common room, Ron was nowhere in sight. That was good for her. She could go and write a not to him. She'd rather do that then tell him in person. Hermione plopped herself into the comfy chair beside the fire and began to write.
Ron-
That letter was so sweet of you. I appreciated it very much. I would be flattered to be your girlfriend. Did you make that song up all by yourself. If you did, you are very talented. Do you have anymore songs that I could look at? Anyways, back to the topic of being a couple, do you want to possibly go on a date? Like this weekend or something? If so come talk to me, rather than writing all these notes. By the way, I'll treasure that forever.
-Hermione
She then folded up the piece of paper and plotted to go find Ron. First she visited the Great Hall but Ron wasn't there. Next came the Quidditch pitch and then some classrooms. He was nowhere to be found. She decided to give up. She would see him soon enough. As she stepped into the Common Room, she saw Seamus heading up to his dormitory. "Seamus, Seamus, will you give this to Ron for me?" she said bluntly, "But whatever you do, don't read it."
"Yah, sure no problem," he said.
Seamus smiled the best smile at Hermione. She smiled back at him, a very uninterested smile, although. Hermione knew that Seamus had a crush on her, but she had told him a number of times that it would never work. Seamus didn't take no for an answer, although.
A day later, Ron approached Hermione after a nights worth of thinking. He decided that they should go down to Hogsmeade that coming Saturday.
"Hey Herms, what are you up to? Anyways, I was thinking we should go to Hogsmeade this Saturday."
"Sure, that would be lovely. It'll just be the two of us, right?" Hermione questioned.
"Of course it will be. It's a date isn't it?!" He said sarcastically.
Ron was counting down the days until the tenth. There was no doubt that every time you saw Ron, he would have a smile on his face. He was so glad to get to be Hermione's girlfriend.
