Author's Note:
Hioh! I have been meaning to put this up here for awhile now, but I wanted to get my beta to read it. That didn't work out so well. So here it is, I changed it, made it longer... among other things. So I hope you like this version better. It is kinda cheesy in some parts, a little bit of fluffiness but nothing to bad. Since I almost always have to do it, here is is, MY FIC IS A SLASH!!!!! you don't like, then run yourself away from my stories. Anywho, a review would be nice, I don't mind the bad ones any at all are good. I also have a poem to make my companion piece so... that should be here soon... I think. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Kinda Strange

Most of the time it was warm here, safe in the haven of Draco's arms. Tonight was different though, it wasn't the same. It felt...colder, something was going to happen and he knew it. He stayed in his cocoon of denial and rested his head on Draco's leg.

"Harry, we need to talk," announced Draco.

Harry's breath caught in his throat. He knew those words, what they meant. They spoke so much, yet he had said so little.

"About what?" Harry willed his voice to be calm, he didn't dare look into Draco's eyes. Afraid of what 'his' eyes might reveal.

"Us, what we have... our relationship," he sweeps his arm out as if to explain his point better. "I don't think this will really work, it was alright before. When we were both trying to forget, but now... I think it best that we move on."

At this point Harry had removed himself from Draco's lap. His fingernails were digging themselves into his palms. So hard he could feel the crimson liquid roll down his fingers. "Oh." Was all he was able to muster. His mind in complete disarray, it was a wonder that he managed to utter anything at all.

"Don't get me wrong, I value what we had together."

Harry couldn't fathom it, how could Draco remain so calm. When he was about to crack, and start running around the room screaming.

"I could always say that we should stay friends, I don't know if you would really accept that though." Draco stares off at nothing as he speaks, as if he is trying hard to concentrate on some thought or emotion.

From the posture he used, Harry could tell that he was trying so hard not to hurt him. Trying not to wound him even as he betrayed him, as he savagely twisted the knife that he had thrust between Harry's ribs. "No I wouldn't, would I," he stated quietly.

"Well now that that's settled, I guess I should be going." Draco unfolds himself gracefully from the couch. The lack of emotion hurt Harry, he did understand.

As Draco walked away, Harry fought a useless battle. He had to know. "Draco... is there someone else, is that why?" Harry hated himself for being so weak, as if he could break in a breath. He forced himself to look at Draco. To look up at him as he stood there, a silver dagger sheathed in black silk. Beautiful, but oh so deadly. Capable of wounding you with a simple touch if you weren't careful. Able to make you want to be injured.

Draco turned towards Harry, a calm air about him. He couldn't manage to look Harry in the eye but, after a moment, he uttered a soft "No, Harry" then started walking again, slightly forced.

Harry stood still, lost for a moment. His Draco was leaving him, he couldn't handle that. Just when he was about to break under the pressure and Draco was almost out the door, he opened his mouth to say something. Anything... but no words came. He stood there, gaping, as one of the only people he ever loved, left him alone.

*~*~*~*

Harry had stayed in the tower for a many hours before he dragged himself to bed. There was nothing that could have comforted him, he just curled up in his sheets... and wept. You might think that the days would have gotten easier after that, but they didn't. He saw Draco everywhere, in the halls, outside, in their classes, he wasn't helping himself any by looking for him either.

Harry's confusion, and need for Draco, was driving him past sanity, so far that he could no longer concentrate. There was only one thing he could do, he had to talk to Draco. The next day would be Saturday... perfect! Most people would be outside, if it was sunny, or in their rooms. He would wait and 'abduct' Draco when he was alone.

Hence, the reason Harry was sulking in the shadows. His captive was walk towards him even as he stood there, he seemed deep in thought though, not that it matter to Harry at this point. As soon as Draco passed in front of him, he slipped out of the shadows, and rapped one of his arms around Draco's chest and arms and then placed his hand on his mouth. Harry pulled Draco into a room across the hall, and then pined him against the wall by his arms. Once Draco realized who it was, he opened his mouth as if to speak. Whatever he was going to say was neatly cut off as Harry growled low in his throat.

"I believe you owe me an explanation," Harry spoke softly.

"An explanation?" he responded with a raised eyebrow, "I owe you nothing of the sort, Potter." Draco's eyes where expressionless, except for that haunting look that said he was trying to hide something. Some emotion he didn't want Harry to see. Draco move slightly, Harry glared at him as he thought back to the other night. Something he remember hearing Draco say made Harry realize something.

"You are trying to protect me, aren't you Draco?" Draco tensed, shock evident in his eyes. "That's why you were so calm; you felt you were doing what you had to."

Draco looked him in the eyes, his lips twitched, his eyes shined with amusement. He did not deny Harry's question, but then again, he did not agree either. "What would you do if I said yes?"

"That depends if you are agreeing with me or not," Harry whispered quietly.

"Look", Draco responded quietly but firmly, "this is part of the reason that I left so quickly yesterday, I don't really want to see you hurt. By me or anyone, you mean a lot to me Harry, and if you stay around me you are bound to--" he was cut off as Harry framed his face with his hands and kissed him passionately. They broke when breathing became a necessity, both gasping. Draco dropped his head to Harry's shoulder.

"Why do you always do this to me?" muttered Draco, his breath brushing against Harry's neck.

"Because I am the one you love," Harry murmured softly before taking a breath. "Draco... you can just tell me when something is wrong."

"I know, but sometimes it is easier to just... forget."

"True, but then you wouldn't have me, would you?" Harry smiles sweetly before kissing him. Draco grins against Harry's lips.

It is kinda strange how something so happy, can appear out of something that had once brought pain. Then again life its self is pain, so shouldn't love show up at anytime. Kinda strange, isn't it?
