- Draco's Story -

There's a lot to be said for this 'Head Boy' lark, especially when it comes to the behaviour of the opposite sex. Girls have been throwing themselves at me all day, practically falling all over each other trying to get my attention, even Lavender Brown, who, as far as I can remember, has never even looked in my direction before.

Pansy, of course, is still trying to convince me that she's the girl of my dreams - yeah right, the stuff that nightmares are made of more like it! She doesn't take a hint either, not even when I insult her or cut her dead.

My 'companion' *grin* last night was Catherine Dixon from Ravenclaw - very pretty, incredible legs, and at least she can talk about something other than the sad demise of Voldemort, which is about all Pansy can manage.

Granger and Weasley are obviously still together, I saw them kissing outside her door as Catherine and I were on our way to my suite last night. The sight of them almost made me sick. They've been seeing each other for over six months now, so they've obviously 'done it', but Miss Mudblood is far too perfect to even CONSIDER having a boy in her room, I mean imagine what it would do to her spotless reputation and what would the first years think! *smirk* No doubt Weasley needs an instruction book complete with diagrams to help him figure out what to do with a girl, but I don't reckon Granger would be too fussy about his performance - let's face it, how many offers would she get???

Not sure who Potter is interested in these days, apart from himself. He doesn't seem to be dating anyone since Chang dumped him during fifth year. I reckon he and Longbottom would make a great pair. They have such a lot in common; both tragic figures, parents either dead or as good as, and no girl will look twice at either of them. Yes, I think they should get together. *smirk*

Granger and I had a meeting with Dumbledore, McGonagall and Snape today to discuss our plans for the year. I think the old buzzard has finally given in to senility. He suggested that we hold not the traditional (and mind-blowingly boring) Yule Ball but a Valentine's Day banquet with a full-school ball to follow! Even McGonagall was hard pressed to keep a straight face. I'm sure everyone was remembering the last Valentine's Day 'event' at Hogwarts when that idiot, Lockhart, had 'cupids' running around everywhere delivering Valentine's to half the school - I received 58 if I remember correctly. Even Potter got one but that was from a Weasley, so it doesn't count, we all know that they aren't fussy.

Typically, Granger thought the Valentine's idea was 'Wonderful, Professor Dumbledore!' - she's such a suck-up! It was pretty easy to see that Snape was as unimpressed as I was, his lip was curled so much it almost disappeared.

- Hermione's Story -

I'm in a state of shock because I just can't believe what I saw last night - Catherine Dixon walking hand in hand along the corridor with Malfoy, very obviously going off to his room for the night!!! I nearly fell over when I saw them together and as for Ron, he was too stunned to even speak!

We both thought we knew Catherine pretty well, she's been a prefect , along with us, since the beginning of fifth year and she fought so bravely against Voldemort and his followers last year that she's one of the LAST people I would have expected to see with a Slytherin, especially one like Malfoy who personifies everything that is evil about them. Ron and I talked about it and he is really disgusted that a terrific person like Catherine would lower herself to such a level, but when we ran into her in the Great Hall at lunch time, he couldn't stop grinning at her for some reason?

I couldn't help myself, I just had to ask her 'why', much to Ron's embarrassment. Her reply was worse than the thought of her being Malfoy's plaything! She smiled serenely at me and said, 'Hermione, why not? He's handsome, intelligent, charming and he has a superb body. He's also highly sophisticated, which is more than can be said for most of the boys around here - not to mention the fact that he's an incredible lover- all I can say is 'Thank the Gods for silencing charms', if you get my drift!'" And with that, she winked at me and strolled over to the Ravenclaw table, blowing Malfoy a kiss as she walked past the Slytherins!!!!

It took me a full minute to process what I'd just heard. Malfoy, handsome? Sophisticated? Intelligent? (well, yes, I have to concede that one...he's very smart) Gorgeous body? *shudder* Incredible lover? (I don't even WANT to contemplate that and as for the need for a silencing charm...). Ron was strangely quiet after she'd gone, he was obviously as embarrassed as I was.

I think I may have to re-assess my initial conviction that Catherine Dixon is highly intelligent, if she thinks Malfoy is charming, then she's obviously got a screw loose!

On a far more pleasant note, it was decided at a meeting today between Malfoy and I, our respective heads of house and Professor Dumbledore, that instead of a Halloween or Yule Ball this year, we will wait until the summer and hold one on Valentine's Day. I think it's a brilliant idea and so romantic! Ron will love it! (he's so soppy!) *smile* A - N- D, it will be the perfect opportunity for Harry and Ginny to spend a nice evening together. Poor Ginny has been trying since she was 11 years old to get Harry to see her as someone other than Ron's younger sister but it just hasn't worked. I'll gently nudge Harry into asking Ginny to be his date and then I'll help her get dressed to the nines for the occasion!

I won't mention my plan to Ron though. I really DO understand why he is so protective of Ginny, particularly in view of what she went through with Riddle, but she's completely safe with Harry! Harry would be so perfect for Gin, he's gentle, kind, funny, a gentleman (which is more than can be said for a certain Head Boy) and he'd protect her with his life.

I probably shouldn't be playing matchmaker but I can't help it, I just want the whole world to be as happy as Ron and I are!
