Deja Vu

Story Summary:
Composed of a series of notes passed between the Marauders, Lily, Snape and Lucius Malfoy, this is my take on their seventh year. Written a while ago, it's not very true to characterisation, but I kind of like it anyway and hope you do too.

Chapter 1 - History of Magic Class

Sirius,

I feel your lips upon mine,

And I know that this is real.

But you don't understand:

This is just the way I feel.

Remus.

Hey Moony,

You writing love poems to Padfoot, again? You never send them, so what's the point? If you're that serious about him then go for it. What have you got to lose?

- Prongs.

James,

If I tell him and he doesn't feel the same then he might get freaked out and I'll lose one of my best friends. Of course I'm serious about him; he's all I ever think about. It's driving me crazy, James. Help.

Remus.

Moony,

It sounds like you've really fallen for him and, way I figure it, if you don't ask you'll never know. He won't freak and if he falls out with you over it then he obviously wasn't worth it in the first place. Trust me, it makes sense.

- Prongs.

J - What are you and Remus talking about? You've been writing notes all lesson. Is it something bad?

- Sirius B.

Padfoot,

It's nothing bad. We're not talking about anything in particular. You're just paranoid.

- Prongs.

James,

What did he say to you? Did he ask about me? I think I'm in love with Sirius, James. What should I do?

Remus.

Moony,

Relax; it'll be fine. Besides, I think he likes you, too. I'll ask Lily what she thinks.

- Prongs.

James,

Don't do that! What if she tells him?

Remus.

Moony,

Do you think Lily is a bad person, or something? She's trustworthy. It'll be ok, but I won't tell her if you can't trust her.

- Prongs.

J - You are talking about me, aren't you? I can tell. What is he saying? I still can't stop thinking about him. Damn Remus for being so nice!

- Sirius B.

Padfoot,

Honestly, it's nothing. We're talking about Lily, if you must know. Why don't you just tell Moony how you feel? You'll feel better when it's out in the open.

- Prongs.

J - You are mental. He'll freak out and stop speaking to me, I just know it. What about Lily?

- Sirius B.

James,

What is he saying? He didn't (yeah, right) ask you to tell me he secretly loves me, did he? No, I didn't think anything bad about Lily. Sorry for any insinuations.

Remus.

MARAUDERS ONLY!

Sirius, James, Remus,

Why are you guys only writing notes to each other and not me? Are you planning any good pranks? What are you all talking about? Please reply to me.

Peter.

Peter,

We don't mean to leave you out. Sorry. I am talking to James about Lily, and I don't know what James and Sirius are talking about. I'll write to you, if you want.

Remus.

Remus,

Thanks, you are nice then. The others haven't replied to me. How rude are they?

Peter.

Wormtail,

Sorry for ignoring you. I've been talking to Sirius and Remus and they are being quite annoying. I've hardly done any work.

- Prongs.

P - I have been talking to James. Sorry I didn't write to you. How boring is this lesson? Do you know what Remus and James are talking about?

- Sirius B.

Sirius,

I know! Why do we have to learn about History of Magic, anyway? They're talking about Lily, I think.

Peter.

James,

So, did you tell Lily? What did she say? Has Sirius said anything about me? Oh my God, he is so gorgeous. Why does he torture me so, James?

Remus.

Moony,

Relax! I haven't told her yet, but I'll write a note to her in a minute. He just asked if we were talking about him and I said we were talking about Lily and for him not to be so paranoid. Personally, I wouldn't know how gorgeous he was, but you should just tell him because then you wouldn't be so tortured. Does that even make sense? I'll write to Lily now.

- Prongs.

R - What can possibly be so interesting about Lily? You and James have been talking about her all lesson. You must have run out of things to say by now. That greasy-haired git, Snape, is giving me the evils. I swear that guy should be shot. What do you think?

- Sirius B.

Sirius,

We're not talking about Lily any more. James is writing to her now. I agree that Snape should be killed, but not necessarily shot. Just ignore him.

Remus.

R - I can't ignore him. He deliberately tries to wind me up. What were you talking about after Lily, then? Because you were writing after that, too.

- Sirius B.

Lily,

Hi, it's me. I've been talking to the guys and I kind of need your help. You see, Remus fancies Sirius and Sirius fancies Remus, but neither of them will tell the other how he feels. It's so stupid. What I'm asking is that you help me get them together. Please help.

- James.

James,

Why don't you play matchmaker? I will help. You are serious, right? If you are joking then you are very mean.

Lily.

Lily,

Of course I'm serious. I wouldn't joke about my best friends' feelings. You know me better than that. It'll be great to get them together, though. Remus and Sirius deserve each other. They'll be perfect together! Oh, Lily, I'm so excited. The problem, now, is that we need a way to get them together. Any ideas?

- James.

James,

I know what you mean! I can just see them lying by a fire or talking in the moonlight - well, not the full moon - and just being romantic. You know the thought: candlelit dinners and the like. I'll definitely help, though. I'll try to think of a way later, ok?

Lily.

Moony,

Ok, I told her. She says you should a) tell him or b) let us try to match make for you. What do you think? Who are you writing to, by the way?

- Prongs.

James,

What great ideas she came up with! I can't tell him - you already know that. As for you playing matchmaker... well, it took 5 years for you and Lily to notice each other as more than just friends. What did you have in mind? I was writing to Sirius.

Remus.

Moony,

We're not sure yet. Do you mind us matchmaking for you? What are you and Padfoot talking about?

- Prongs.

James,

We were just talking about killing Snape, actually. Nothing much. Sure, you can try if you want. I know you're dying to give it a shot.

Remus.

Moony,

That's great that you and Padfoot are talking at least. Lily and I will try to think of a plan at break. Also, just a thought, but you know you said how it took 5 years before Lily and I got together? Well, wouldn't it be better if you and Padfoot didn't waste so much time? Think about it.

- Prongs.

MARAUDERS AND LILY!

Guys,

Since you've all stopped writing to me again, I'll do a quid pro quo. How boring is this lesson, by the way? Ok, all you have to do is answer the questions:

  1. Do you have a boy/girlfriend?

  2. Do you have a crush on anyone?

  3. If so, who?

Peter.

P - Ok, I'll answer your questions.

  1. No.

  2. Yes.

  3. Is this note going to be seen by anyone else, before I tell you?

- Sirius B.

Sirius,

No. I won't show anyone, I swear. Why is Snape giving you odd looks?

Peter.

P - I don't know, it's rather annoying. Ok, I'll tell you who it is: Remus. Don't laugh or tell anybody, ok?

- Sirius B.

Peter,

Sorry I didn't write. Here are your answers:

  1. No.

  2. Yes.

  3. I'm not saying just in case anyone sees this note.

Remus.

Remus,

Oh my God, what is wrong with you lot today? I won't tell anybody. Go on, Remus, you know you want to.

Peter.

Peter,

It's Sirius. Don't breathe a word of it to anyone.

Remus.

Wormtail,

I was talking to Lily, again. Sorry. Here are your answers, then...

One: Yes.

Two: Yes.

Three: Lily.

Ok, you said it was quid pro quo, so now you have to tell me.

- Prongs.

Peter,

Ok, here you are: I'm going out with James, I fancy James and James is the person. Your turn.

Lily.

Sirius, Remus, James and Lily,

Since James and Lily asked, I'll tell you all my answers. I'm not going out with anyone, but I do fancy someone. Only joking - yes, I know it's a bad joke. Ok, the end. Someone else say something...

Peter.

R - So, how are you anyway? Sorry, I've been meaning to write again, but Peter was talking to me. Some kind of quid pro quo, I think. What were your answers?

- Sirius B.

Sirius,

I told him I was single and that I did fancy someone. You?

Remus.

R - What a coincidence! I told him the same thing. So, who's the person you fancy? Do you really like them?

- Sirius B.

Sirius,

Yeah, I like him a lot. I'm just not sure whether to say anything because I'm worried about how he might react. What about you?

Remus.

R - I'm afraid that the guy I like might completely freak out if I tell him how I feel. We're a right pair, aren't we? I really like him, though. So, who is it?

- Sirius B.

Sirius,

I think you should tell him how you feel. If you like him that much you should let him know. I'll tell you the guy I like later, in case anyone reads this note.

Remus.

James,

Why didn't you tell me? Did you even know? Remus and Sirius both like each other and both are afraid to tell each other. It is insane! Write back immediately.

Peter.

Wormtail,

Relax, for God's sake. I've already been through this about 3 times. Lily and I are going to try to get them together. It's not a big deal.

- Prongs.

James,

You knew and you didn't tell me? I can see that it's not a big deal, thank you very much. Oh, Professor Binns is coming over to check what I've done. What did Wesley the Watchful do again?

Peter.

Wormtail,

Would it be easier for us to talk at break instead of all these notes? Wesley the Watchful was the guy that set up the Ministry of Magic.

- Prongs.

James,

He keeps asking me who the guy I fancy is and I said I'd tell him at break. He said he'll tell me whom he likes, too, but I can't do it. He'll go mad once he realizes I'm talking about him. What shall I do?

Remus.

Moony,

How about if you hide at break and tell him you forgot all about it? You could tell him in a note - it'll be easier.

- Prongs.

James,

Ok, thanks. I will hide, then. Who are you talking to at the moment?

Remus.

Moony,

I'm not talking to him, don't worry. I was talking to Wormtail, but now I'm not. Speak to you later; Binns is checking everyone's work.

- Prongs.

Lily,

There is no need to try getting Sirius and me together. I'm going to tell him. Don't bother replying to this note.

Remus.

L - I've decided to tell Remus how I feel, so you and James don't have to try getting us together now, ok? Talk to you at break.

- Sirius B.

SS:

Why do Gryffindors always think so much of themselves? Those flaming 'Marauders' and their Mudblood friend Lily Evans have been looking smug all lesson.

: Lucius.

Lucius:

I don't know why they do, but I can see what you mean. I think they feel inferior to us and try not to show it.

Severus.
