Ron is acting strangely, sneaking out of the dormitory 'til all hours to meet a mystery girl. His grades are suffering and he's in serious danger of being expelled from Hogwarts.  Now he’s suspected of attacking Professor Snape and stealing valuable books from the restricted section of the library. Harry and Hermione try to discover his secret but Ron has managed to evade them at every turn.  In desperation they turn to some of the friendlier ghosts who inhabit Hogwarts Castle.  Moaning Myrtle, the miserable ghost who haunts one of the girl’s restrooms, agrees to help if Harry will agree to a candle light dinner with her.   Naturally, she’s the one who eventually discover’s Ron’s location...

Harry and Hermione try to discover his secret but Ron has managed to evade them at every turn. They finally discover that Ron's girlfriend is a PAINTING of a beautiful girl named Gwendolyn. Believing her to be a real girl trapped in the picture by a jilted wizard, James Potter and The Marauders had discover the spell that would release her. The painting mysteriously disappears before she could be set free. Now Harry, Hermione, and their friends mount an expedition to find Ron Weasley and solve the mystery once and for all.

Hermione has been kidnapped and Draco Malfoy is a suspect. Can Harry solve the mystery of the mysterious girl in the portrait before Hermione's life is sacrificed?
