Jaxon always knew that he was different. For as long as he could remember, he felt like he didn't belong with his family. Of course, if you didn't know Jaxon Reid Malfoy, you would think he fit in splendidly. He had his father's pale complexion and extremely light blonde hair. He was tall like his mother and had many of her facial features, although her features seemed to look better on him. To anyone who was on the outside looking in, he was the epitome of a Malfoy and a Parkinson. Unfortunately for Jaxon, he was as opposite of the Malfoys as one could be. He was more interested in reading and learning than developing an intimidating personality. He would rather love people than scare them. He did not hate muggles, rather, he was intrigued by them. He had come to embrace and even love most things muggle.
Not that Jaxon didn't love his family. He loved them very much. He especially loved and respected his father, the great Draco Malfoy. He just couldn't bring himself to hate a whole kind of people just because they weren't pureblooded wizards. In fact, he never felt hatred towards anyone in his entire life. He didn't even hate his spoiled little twin sister. Sure, he disliked a lot of things that she did, but he couldn't feel hatred for her. It was as though he did not have the ability to feel hatred for anyone or anything. For most people, this would be a good thing. However, his family could see his inability to despise things that were beneath him, and acted as though he had been cursed. How could the only male Malfoy heir not have pureblood pride?
What the Malfoys didn't know was that there was a spell on their son. It was a complicated spell, that very few people in the wizarding world could ever hope to perform. However, when the Nullus Fastidium charm was successfully applied to a person, it became impossible for that person to feel hate. However, the Malfoys had no reason to believe that someone had put a spell on their son. Jaxon had never been left alone with any witch or wizard, even those who were close family. The only time that he had ever been out of the company of one or both of his parents was immediately after he had been born at St. Mungo's. What Draco and Pansy Malfoy did not know was that Albus Dumbledore happened to be at St. Mungo's that night. Seeing as he was the greatest sorcerer of the time, nobody felt the need to question his visit to the newborn Jaxon Malfoy. It was the day that Jaxon was born that he was hit with the charm that made him the most un-Malfoy Malfoy ever.
One would have to wonder why Dumbledore had found it necessary to put such a powerful charm on a newborn baby. It all goes back to Lucius Malfoy. After the Order of the Phoenix caused the downfall of Lord Voldemort, Lucius rose to power as the new Dark Lord. While many wizards were oblivious to this information, Dumbledore had always known. He also knew that Lucius had learned from his predecessor's mistakes. He knew not to allow anyone who he did not trust into his inner circle. Most of the former Death Eaters were not even allowed into Lucius' inner circle. In fact, the only people that he really did trust were his son, Draco and Draco's wife Pansy. Dumbledore knew that after Draco and Pansy had children, they would be immediately counted as those that he trusted. Therefore, Dumbledore knew that his only chance to infiltrate a spy into the ranks of Malfoy was to have one there from birth. Thus, his plan to put the charm on one of the Malfoy children came into effect.
The only glitch in Dumbledore's plan was that he would have to wait eleven years for Jaxon to reach Hogwarts. After Jaxon was a student, Dumbledore would tell him everything. He would not make the same mistakes that he made with Harry Potter. He would not make Jaxon Malfoy's life a mystery until he very nearly died because he simply didn't know everything about his own life. Dumbledore refused to take this route again. Unfortunately, eleven years is a long time, and Dumbledore was concerned that Lucius would attempt to rise to power before he had time to convince Jaxon of the right path in life. Luckily for Dumbledore, Lucius had been patient and biding his time before he attempted to take over the wizarding world. And those eleven years had finally passed. It was time for Jaxon Malfoy to go to Hogwarts. And nobody could know what his coming of age could bring.
