Look What the Cat Dragged In

~*~~*~~*~

"Rayon was with us when Maleyna entered Ginny's body, when I was brought back by the power of the stone. He left that night. We all forgot about him but that was the biggest mistake we ever made. He is a very powerful man, though he looks no older than Sebastian. He took Ginny and told her to activate the stone. I still don't know where he got it from, I guessed it was destroyed in the explosion. I know now that I was wrong. He had it and he was trying to use it but he didn't know how. He took me so Ginny would come to him. When she did he took her instead and tortured her into telling him where Maleyna was and how to activate the stone but she didn't know. He was killing her. I had to get her out of there." He paused at sat down. "I have nightmares about it every night." He sighed heavily.

"I thought she killed him," Lesley said joining him.

"So did I. Turns out she just delayed him for a while. That's why we moved here and away from everything happening in the city centre. So far he's only infected the Wizarding world. We don't use magic so often but we can still do little things. Dimitri's gone back to get the Maleyna because he thinks she's responsible for killing Ginny. Maleyna is Ginny. If he brings her here, he won't exist. Ginny sacrificed herself for me and Dimitri. I don't want to lose him too." He got up and picked up his coat.

"Where are you going?"

"I'm just taking a walk, I'll be back soon."

***

When her stomach finally caught up to her, she was standing in a finely furnished room. It seemed to be a muggle living room as it was filled with most of the things she would normally find in her father's office.

She began to look around but was halted in her expedition when the boy's hand grabbed hold of her wrist and dragged her across the room to the kitchen.

"Sit," he said as he took off his jacket. She didn't blame him, the house was warm and a winter jacket was not to be worn in there.

"Who are you?" she asked quietly.

"Shut up. You - do - not - talk to me. Do you hear?" he said angrily.

Ok, she thought to herself. Just then, someone came in through the front door. It was a woman, she looked older than him. As she came into the light of the kitchen she gasped. Lesley?

"Dimitri, where have you been? Your father's been worried sick!"

"He knows then?"

"You tied me up on the floor. Did you really think he wouldn't notice that? I think Sebastian is grounded because of you."

'Sebastian?' Ginny thought to herself.

Dimitri smiled to himself. "Where is dad?"

"He tried to get me to go after you and when I refused he stalked off outside. I don't know where he's gone." She then realised that there was someone else in the room. When Ginny caught her gaze, Lesley almost broke down. "Oh my god... You actually brought her back?"

Dimitri didn't make much acknowledgement of Ginny's presence. "Yeah, I guess so."

"Your father-."

"Is going to ring my neck," he prattled off, "I know. But Lesley, look at her. I don't know where my mum is today and I sure as hell couldn't find her but... at least she's still alive for now."

Lesley looked between him and her old friend. "Dimitri, you don't know that."

"Yes, I do. My mother is dead right now and she's alive," he said with his voice trembling. "Nothing is more unjust than that!" He pointed at Ginny. "She's going to help me get her back."

She frowned. "Excuse me?" Ginny input.

"I said, don't talk to me!" he yelled.

Ginny jumped and withdrew her comment shrinking back into the stool she was sitting in.

Then there was a small rumbling, like someone running down the stairs. "What the hell is all this yelling?" a voice said as it came down the steps. Ginny sheepishly turned around to see an older man coming down the stairs behind her. He looked as though he had just woken up as he glanced around the room without much interest and went straight for the fridge. He caught sight of his brother as he leaned inside looking for something to drink. "Your home then. Dad's gonna kill you, I hope you know that." He stood up with a carton of milk and drained most of it as he turned around. When his eyes wondered to Ginny, he began to cough and splutter before letting go of the carton to let it fall to the floor.

He stopped coughing and wiped his mouth. He rounded her looking at every detail before he muttered, "Holy shit. You actually did it." He turned to Dimitri. "No, forget kill you. He'll think up something much worse."

Dimitri looked at them all save Ginny, there was something going on here that he didn't know about. "Why are you all acting like this? Sebastian, what are you talking about?"

Ginny turned back to the man beside her who was staring at her as if she wasn't real. He kept waving his hand in front of her to see if she'd follow it with her eyes, for some strange reason she actually did. "There was a line in all this, Dimitri. You didn't just cross it. You blew it up, swept up the remains and redrew it somewhere far, far, far away." He looked up at him, his eyes were wide. "This is a whole new type of punishment, bro. For once, I don't want to be here when dad gets home."

Lesley wondered if Sebastian would know where he went. "Where could Draco be?" she asked. Ginny's head snapped to her.

Draco?

Sebastian only had a few moments to contemplate and shrug before a slam penetrated through the whole house, shaking up the walls. After reverberating, the house stilled. So did the conversation. Only one voice spoke through the silence. "I'm here."

Nobody moved.

"When did you get back, son." Dimitri closed his eyes. Mentally preparing for this kind of situation was always a good idea. Words were going to be thrown here that would be liable to break him down. He couldn't let that happen, he had to make him understand.

"I just did. I was meant to come back to when I left but I'm not that good with time turners."

Draco entered the kitchen. He had prepared himself too but not for this dispute, for other reasons entirely. He knew what his son would bring home. That was the reason he was avoiding her altogether. Without glancing in her direction he still see in his peripheral vision the shining blue of her hair. He almost smiled.

Almost. Now was not a time for smiling.

He nodded with a deep breath, telling himself not to lose his temper. "I see," he said letting it out. "So not only did you go against my wishes but you are now confessing to trying to hide it from me. Do you think that I'm stupid? Did you actually think that I wouldn't notice her in the house?" He pointed at Ginny sitting on the stool in silence. He pensively wondered if she was a victim of his son's famous silencing charms but he shook that off for another time. He went back to the task at hand. "I think I'd recognize her, she's been in my head for over fourteen years!" he began to yell losing his temper.

Lesley looked around. This was not the place for her to be right now. She figured life would be better, and she would probably be safer, leaving. "I... I think I'll go." She went to the living room and grabbed her coat off the rack before leaving the house.

The room went deathly silent. Draco stood down and reserved himself. "Sebastian, go to your room. As in your own room. When you get upstairs, call your mother. I think she would like to take you home."

Sebastian nodded but stopped soon after and frowned. "But she's spending it with Lyn. She said not to disturb her."

Draco closed his eyes suppressing his anger. He really didn't want to explode at him, it had nothing to do with him at all. "Sebastian," he said in a warning tone.

Sebastian sighed. "Yes, dad." He turned and ran to the stairs to ascend them.

Draco focused on his other son. "You, sit." Ginny watched him talk to his son as, suddenly, he held out his hand.

Ginny frowned. Dimitri just looked at it with a stare as cold as Draco's tone. They matched each other perfectly. It was obvious they were related. After a moment of just glares, Dimitri reached for his neck and took out a silver chain that looped around it. He took it off and pulled the pendant out of his shirt. As he did, Ginny saw the time turner. She had wondered why he had the gift she had given Draco a few days ago for his birthday.

Well, it was more than a few days now, she thought to herself as she wasn't allowed to speak.

She watched as he placed it in Draco's palm and she absently read and partially remembered the inscription she had had engraved on it. She had told him that night she gave it to him that the inscription didn't count anymore because what she had seen him do with his secretary. But it wasn't even him and she never had the chance to tell him she didn't mean it. Now things had changed, for better and for worse.

You'll never need to tie me down. We have all the time in the world.

She smiled to herself remembering why she had put it there. He had scolded her for her tendency to back away from everything new that she didn't trust. She had trusted him somewhere along the way. It didn't bring her anything but trouble though. Dimitri caught her and glared at her. "What are you smiling at?" he sneered.

Draco looked at her for the first time since he entered the room. He saw what she was looking at before she jumped and looked at his son. He looked at the inscription and smiled faintly. He hadn't read it in years.

"N-nothing," she said shaking her head.

"Dimitri, shut up - and listen - to me," Draco said causing the boy to draw back and look at him. "I want you to go upstairs right now and lock yourself in your room. I do not want to see you until tomorrow."

"But-."

"Are you hearing me? Or do you need me to repeat it?"

He sighed heavily. "Dad -."

"Tell me your excuses in the morning. I am in no mood to hear them right now."

The boy sighed heavily in anger and defeat. "Fine," he huffed and got up noisily to proceed to the stairs in order to stamp up every one. Ginny gave a small smile, it was obvious he was the youngest in the family. She did that when she was told off too. Even now which, as she thought about it, was quite sad.

Draco shut his eyes in annoyance as Dimitri slammed his door. He gripped the bridge of his nose and let out a long breath he had no idea he was holding. After a long moments silence he spoke.

"When did he take you?"

Ginny looked at him and frowned. "Pardon?"

"Where were you when he took you?"

"Um, by the lake at the burrow."

"When?" he said looking at her hair again. His guess was probably right anyway. It was then confirmed when she answered him.

"When you left me there alone," she said a little too spitefully.

He laughed emptily. "Figures. He takes you at the one moment I change my mind about anything I already decided on," he said quietly.

"What?" she said straining to hear.

He looked up at her. "Nothing."
