Draco Malfoy leaned back in his seat, staring casually out the window and drumming his pencil monotonously on the table. His mind was not with his body in the weekly meeting of the Death Eaters, rather he was dreaming about his life two years ago, with all its simplicity and comforts. He sighed wistfully, longing for his fifteen bedroom mansion, complete with swimming pool and its own Floo network. But of course, the ministry had seized control of it and everything else he'd owned - save his off shore bank accounts, the first time they'd been able to pin a kill on him.
He drifted deeper into thought and was contemplating falling completely asleep when Marcus Flint, who was seated beside him, tapped his shoulder urgently. With a start Draco was roused from his reserve, he looked at Flint questioningly. "What?" he hissed.
"I was just saying, Master Malfoy, that I believe it is time for you to lead your first expedition," a steely voice snapped. "And, I will thank you to pay attention when I'm speaking. Or we might find that a little discipline is in order."
Draco swallowed nervously and fixed his gaze on the wooden table, unable to look the Dark Lord in the eyes. "What did you have in mind?" he asked quietly. It wasn't really a question, more a stylistic way of saying "Yes, sir, whatever you say, I'll do."
The Dark Lord (no one called him He Who Must Not Be Named anymore, to do so meant immediate death) of course understood this and continued, looking at all the death eaters as he spoke. "As we all know, Harry Potter is becoming a serious danger to us-"
"You want me to kill Harry Potter?" Draco interrupted.
Lord Voldemort glared at him with small snake like eyes, which glittered angrily. "If you think you could manage it. Do not interrupt me again, Draco, you're treading on thin ice today." He cleared his throat. "As I was saying, Harry Potter is a serious threat to us. He is arresting at least three of our number every month - sometimes more! This cannot continue, Harry Potter must be stopped." Here he paused. "Or at least kept occupied. Here is what I want you to do, Master Malfoy; I want you to take a hostage. Someone who means the world to Potter - perhaps that little red haired wretch that he sleeps with or something. What's her name?"
"Ginny Weasley," said Vincent Crabbe from the other end of the table. A pleased look came over his Stone Age features, when he realized he'd answered a question, and answered it correctly. Draco was appalled, not for the first time, by his friend's stupidity.
"Right, well kidnap her and then take her to your apartment in Knockturn Alley. Where you will hold on to her, until I give the order to do away with her, which will not be for a very long while, because I want Potter to be kept occupied by looking for her. If in the event that he does find out where you are, simply Disapparate. But, don't you dare Disapparate here, you know the drill, the five stop before headquarters? Do so, or you're dead, Malfoy and I mean that in the literal sense." Lord Voldemort glared meaningfully at Draco. "Right, this meeting is adjourned. Get yourself a team of three, not including you, to help.
With a swirl of black robes, the dark lord vanished, as did all the senior Death Eaters, leaving Draco alone with Flint, Crabbe and Goyle. He sighed, guessing that they would be his team for this endeavour. He hoped that it would go according to plan. Draco needed the success of his first leadership experience to move him up in the Death Eater ranks, maybe then he wouldn't get stuck working with numnuts like Crabbe, Goyle and Flint.

Hogsmeade seemed to be unusually crowded to Ginny. The crowds seemed unusual to Ginny, since the second rise of Lord Voldemort, seven years ago, people rarely came to the old places. Diagon Alley usually stood empty and Hogsmeade was normally a ghost town. She bumped consistently into people as she bustled about. Last minute Christmas shopping seemed to be everyone's minds.
Ginny glanced down at the list in her hand, everything was purchased. Except one thing, she still needed a dress for the ministry Christmas ball. She wanted a truly impressive dress; Harry had high status in the ministry as the top Auror in a death eater crisis, and she wanted to look every bit as top class as he was.
The sign for Luscious Luminous Lace, hung in front of her. Glittering brightly at her, reminding her of happier times, when Hogsmeade wouldn't have been so crowded, because many other shopping villages would have been around. Death Eaters rarely came to Hogsmeade, and there had never been a killing anywhere in the area. Aurors were everywhere, the use of an Avada Kedavra curse would bring them in the hundreds, any Death Eater who dared kill anyone here, would be caught within minutes. She was certain that the death eaters knew it, and stayed away purposely.
Ginny pushed open the door to the shop, and was greeted by a warm current of air. She smiled and looked about the store, everything there was pretty, and she sighed wondering how she would ever be able to choose a dress.
"Can I help you?" a blonde store clerk asked, giving her a cheerful smile. Ginny wondered if business was slow these days.
"Ahh...yes," Ginny told him, smiling back. "I'm here looking for a dress for a Christmas ball. It needs to be green or red, because my partner's wearing red, and something really special."
The man winked knowingly. "Out to impress someone, eh? Here doll face, come with me, I think I have just the thing."
He led Ginny to the back of the store, and into a supply room. She stared in wonder at the vast collection of dresses on either side of her. Each one was different, but beautiful and uniquely special.
Suddenly, the man whipped out his wand, in that instant, the glasses he had been wearing fell to the floor, and Ginny gasped as she recognized Draco Malfoy standing in front of her. She tried to scream, but it was too late, Draco said something to his wand, and Ginny crashed to the floor.

When she awoke, her first thought was that it had all been a dream. She was lying in a comfortable bed, with pillows and blankets all around her. It took her several seconds to realize, that the bed was not her own and that her arm was chain to the bed post. She thrashed helplessly; trying to figure out of the chain was adjustable, finding that it wasn't, and that she was completely unable to roll over, she began to scream.
A moment later, Draco Malfoy appeared in the doorway, smirking silently at her. "What are you trying to do? Get me arrested? I hardly think such behaviour befits a lady of your ...erm...breeding and stature." He gazed tantalizingly down at her and Ginny glared at him with the utmost degree of loathing.
"Snake!" she hissed. "Bastard!"
"Awww..." taunted Draco, putting on a mocking pout. "Surely I'm not that bad? I didn't kill you after all."
"Why didn't you?" demanded Ginny crossly, she was grateful, of course, but she was beginning to smell an underlying plot.
"Well," Draco mused, toying with a strand of his hair, "because we're using you to keep your boyfriend, Potter out of our business. He's getting way to close to the Dark Lord for comfort. Of course, we'll probably kill you eventually, but for the moment, you're safe."
"Safe!" Ginny was furious. "Safe? In a house with you and God knows how many other Death Eaters? In case you didn't know, Malfoy, you're a criminal. A murderer, how the hell I am supposed to feel safe?"
Draco entered the room and took a seat on the edge of her bed and grinned. "Well let's see, there's me, Flint, Goyle and umm...Crabbe. So that makes four, four Death Eaters and you."
"You know, Malfoy. I hope you appreciate that when you get caught, you'll regret everything you're doing. I bet it'll be Harry that catches you, and even though he's known for giving Death Eaters some leniency if he thinks they've learned their lesson, don't expect any! I bet you'll be getting a little kiss."
At this, the annoying smirk on Draco's face vanished and he glowered irritably at her.
It was Ginny's turn to grin. "What's the matter, Malfoy? Never been kissed before? I'm sure that's a situation the ministry can easily remedy."
Draco scooted right over to her and pinned her arms with his own. Ginny was amazed to feel how firm and strong his grip was, he looked at her menacingly. A prickle of fear shot up Ginny's spine, he'd said he wouldn't kill her, but would he hurt her? Draco leaned in so close that she could smell the mint on his breath. Then he swept in, and kissed her. She struggled wildly, but it was no use. Finally, he leaned back and gave her a cheeky grin. "There, now I have been."
Draco got up and walked out of the room, leaving Ginny to scream curses after him.
************************************************************
Two hours later, Draco sat ensconced on his comfy flannel sofa, casually flipping through a very large pile of magazines. A piece of parchment lay in front of him, completely blank but for a large, badly glued "W" that was positioned at the top. He frowned at the magazines in frustration, who would have thought that kidnapping could be so much work? He would have had Goyle make the ransom note, if Goyle could be trusted not to leave finger prints or magical residue all over the document. Flint might have been able to manage it, but he had taken Crabbe out on a raid and wouldn't be back until late that night.
The doorbell rang and Draco leapt up from his seat excitedly. Eagerly, he swung the door open and his face lit up when he got a good look at the newcomer. Pansy Parkinson stood in the doorway, her willowy frame was stylish and petite and a seductive smile lit her slender lips. She flung herself at him, knocking him back on to the couch and scattering magazines everywhere.
"Erm...Draco? I'll close the door, shall I?" Gregory Goyle asked uncertainly from the kitchen door.
Draco nodded briefly before turning his full attention back on to Pansy. He always found it amazing how she managed to be everywhere at once and never said a word (until after sex) but yet seemed to know what he wanted, when he wanted it. She of course, was exactly what any tired Death Eater wanted, curves, legs and breasts.
They came up for air, and Pansy panted. "You wanna go to the bedroom," she paused to regain breath, "and you know."
Hell yeah, Draco tried to pant, but was unable too. Pansy skipped happily in through the bedroom door, flinging her shirt onto the bed as she entered.
A scream brought Draco back to reality. "DRACO MALFOY! What the hell are you playing at? There is a woman in here, in our bed! CHAINED TO IT!"
Shit, Draco thought as he slid his pants back on. He hobbled quickly over to the bedroom door. He wrapped his arms over the furious Pansy and cooed, "Don't worry about it, honey. It's just Goyle's eccentric girlfriend. She chained herself to the bed, so she would never have to leave. You should know that you're the only girl for me." He swept Pansy into a passionate kiss.
"Don't think anything of it when he says all that rubbish. He chained me to this bed, and he kissed me. Less than an hour ago, in fact. Didn't you Draco, darling?" Ginny asked innocently from the bed.
Pansy looked at Draco accusingly. "Is that true?"
"NO!" said Draco forcefully, but his eyes betrayed the truth.
"You BASTARD!" Pansy screeched. Hurriedly, she snatched her blouse from his bed and Disapparated before Draco had time to say a single word in his own defence.
He glared at Ginny who was giggling helplessly on the bed. "Fine, Miss Weasley, have it your way. If you're going to be a bitch, you can write your own ransom note." Roughly, he unlocked the chain and hauled Ginny to her feet. He then pulled her into the next room.

"Look, Bennett," Harry Potter was saying to a sobbing former Death Eater who now sat in front of him, "Let me explain this to you from my perspective. You are a criminal, a Death Eater. You have murdered eight people, and I can prove all of it. You have assisted in the murder of countless others and tortured hundreds of Muggles. I think when it's all said and done, you deserve the kiss."
Harry paused and watched the effect this would have. Bennett Brooks was a former alumni of his, from his Hogwarts days. A Slytherin, who had always been rather comical and good natured (as far as Slytherins went) he had taken a turn for the worst, the year before. Bennett had been unhappy with his job, in a marriage that didn't work and with a daughter who had dying of cancer. Bennett had given way to pressure and become a Death Eater, leaving his wife, Blaise to look after their sick child alone. The Bennett sitting in front of him now was nothing like what Harry remembered, he remembered Bennett to be full of life and always laughing or planning some scheme. The Bennett of today sat sobbing quietly, his robes in tatters and his hair a disaster. At the news of the kiss, Bennett simply buried his face in his robes and shook like a maraca.
"However," Harry said, and the miserable Bennett lifted his head, "seeing as you haven't given me any trouble since I arrested you. I am inclined to leniency."
Bennett's tear streaked face appeared confused. "But, it isn't up to you, is it, sir? The judges make decisions like that."
Harry nearly laughed; judges and trials were a thing of the past. With so many Death Eaters being arrested, Aurors were told to simply sentence as they say fit, to criminals who had irrefutable evidence against them or had confessed. In Bennett's case, the evidence was irrefutable.
"Times have changed, Brooks. It's up to me, whether you get the kiss or go to Azkaban - and for how long. Now, if I set you loose on the streets today? What would you do first?"
"Umm...kiss the pavement?" Bennett offered in a weak attempt at a joke.
Harry grinned. "Well, unfortunately for you, you won't get that opportunity, not for a long time. But," he hesitated, "you will get it, eventually, and when you do, I expect you to do just that. Here is what I am giving you for a sentence, I need a Death Eater who doesn't really want to go to Azkaban and is willing to work to stay out. I need information in order to catch more of you, and you can provide it for me. I have organized my own prison, where there are no dementors, to make prisoners go insane, where I am currently keeping four death eaters, who I can actually stand, for information. That's where I'm going to put you."
Bennett stared a Harry, seemingly unable to believe anything he was hearing.
"It's still a prison," Harry cautioned, "you will not enjoy it, not one bit. The food will be cold; you won't sleep in a bed for a very long time. If you're awful, the guards have my permission to hit you. You will be kept in complete solitary confinement, except when I or another Auror come to extract information from you. You will spend as long as this goes on in that prison, and when it is over, you will spend nine months - one for every month you were a death eater, in Azkaban. Do you understand me, Bennett?"
Bennett nodded quietly. "Yes, sir."
Harry smiled. "You'd be amazed how few Death Eaters I can actually stand. It's not that surprising I guess, seeing as they're mostly Slytherins."
Bennett smiled feebly.
Harry picked up his magical cell phone, which connected him directly to his secretary. "Send someone here to pick up Bennett Brooks and transport him to Pottshollow."
A guard came in instantly, and removed Bennett from the room. Harry swivelled in his chair to face his desk. He always played on the Death Eater's fear of getting the kiss. He'd only given one Death Eater that he'd ever caught out of fifty the kiss. That unlucky man had been Lucius Malfoy, and he felt no remorse about doing it. Harry usually, was a very lenient Auror; he didn't give long Azkaban sentences if he could help it. Knowing, full well that once there all the Death Eater's would be miserable. Most of them, he sent for eight to ten years, but it varied for the individual.
A fax began to come through on his desk, thanks to the Death Eaters, many government and legal offices preferred to use muggle means of communication. So that there messages could not be intercepted by Voldemort and his crew. Harry glanced quickly at the fax and recognized Ginny's neat handwriting, excitedly; he pulled the still hot document off the machine.
Harry,
I have been taken as a hostage, by Draco Malfoy. He is holding me somewhere, and says he will not kill me. But, please Harry, please find me. I'm so desperately scared. Please!
Ginny
Harry stared at the note in his hand, before crumpling it into a ball. Shock came over him and he was unable to think about anything besides getting her back, and getting even with Malfoy. If he was the one to catch that bastard, he swore, Malfoy would pay.
