Chapter 7

Lessons had started again and they were getting harder than ever. Ginny was getting buried under mountains of homework, and no matter how much Hermione tried to help her out, it didn't do much since Hermione was also preoccupied with homework of her own.

It was Friday evening and the two girls were sitting in the common room finishing up their homework. Unlike the boys, whose main philosophy was procrastination, they wanted to get it out of the way so that they could have a nice, relaxed time when they went to Hogsmeade that weekend.

They were helping each other with Transfiguration when Harry, Ron, and Colin appeared at the stairway. They walked towards the girls and stood across from them.

"You girls coming to dinner?" Ron asked.

"No, we're going to finish this tonight so that we're free for the whole weekend. Have a good time, boys." Hermione replied without looking up from her sheet.

"Alright, see you then," Harry said, trying to catch Ginny's eye but failing miserably, seeing as she was entranced by her homework.

As the boys were walking out however, they began whispering to each other. Since the common room was deserted except for Ginny and Hermione, it was quite easy to hear what they were saying, and the minute Ginny heard her name she thought that some eves-dropping was in order.

"Harry, what're you going to do about Ginny?? Cho's back now! You can't keep flirting anymore, have you made a decision??" Colin whispered, seeming very interested.

"Shh! I'll tell you about it later!" Harry said hastily, turning back to see if Ginny was listening. But clever little Ginny pretended like she hadn't heard a thing because she was too busy with her work.

As the boys stepped out of the portrait whole, Ginny looked up from her work for the first time since they came down. She sighed, hoping that her dreams about Harry were soon-to-be reality, when she felt Hermione looking at her from the corner of her eye. Ginny turned to her and saw a smirk on her face. Apparently Ginny wasn't the only one who likes to eves-drop.

"We'll talk later," Ginny promised returning the smirk before continuing her homework. Hermione snickered and then stared back at her paper to finish off her essay as well.

About an hour later, the girls had finished all their homework and were now sitting by the fire talking about their love lives. They had already covered Hermione and Ron and concluded that they were doing well, and now they had moved onto the subject of Harry and Ginny.

"So how long have you known that he felt like that about you?" Hermione asked curiously.

"Since the beginning of the break actually, I over heard one of the guys' conversations and they were talking about it. I'm sorry I didn't tell you Herm, I just didn't feel I should say anything since I shouldn't have known in the first place. Please don't be mad." Ginny pleaded.

"Of course I'm not mad that you didn't tell me, I'm just mad that I didn't find out sooner! If I would've known you guys would be all over each other by now! But I guess it's never too late to set up two of your best friends, and better late than never I always say." Hermione replied brightly.

"Sounds good to me. Go ahead! Set me up!"

The two girls laughed together and then fell into a silence. Ginny decided that this would be the best time to finally tell Hermione the secret that she had been keeping all this time. "Hermione, can I talk to you about something?"

"Anything."

"Right... okay, well i-in the past I've made some... some decisions. Some I'm proud of, and some I'm not so proud of. And see the thing is, is that lately I haven't been too proud of myself."

She paused to see Hermione's reaction so far, but she just listened intently and said, "Go on."

"Alright. Well, see lately I've been--"

"Ah! You're done studying! Brilliant! We brought back some dinner for you two!" The boys were back from dinner. Ron handed the food to Hermione, kissed her forehead and continued, "Well I'm stuffed, I'm gonna head up for bed. Good night everybody."

"Hey wait up Ron I'll join you!" Colin squeaked. "Goodnight!"

"Goodnight Colin!" Ginny called after him. Since there was no sign of Harry yet, Ginny felt it would be fine to continue with her confession, but when she looked at Hermione's expression she stopped. Hermione looked like she had just seen a Dementor sneak past behind Ginny's chair. She turned around to see what her friend was staring at, and her heart broke. At the entrance to the common room, was Harry with Cho, snogging like never before. Harry then pulled away from her and whispered, "I missed you. Good night."

And with that she turned and walked away, while he was left with a huge grin on his face as he walked upstairs without a word to Ginny or Hermione. Ginny was crushed and torn and angry and sad all meshed together, but there was not one ounce of happiness left in her. She watched him as he dreamily walked up the steps to his dormitory, and then ran up to hers with tears streaming down her face.

Hermione followed and the minute she entered their room she did nothing more than hug her friend tightly. Ginny was destroyed, she was so excited for a potential future with her dream guy. She was optimistic and her hopes were high, and now her hopes were crushed completely. After several minutes of crying on Hermione's shoulder, she separated herself from her friend and without saying a word, she crawled into bed. She didn't want to fall asleep because that meant waking up and finding out that this wasn't a nightmare, but she didn't want to talk either. Not even to Hermione.

She lied there, helpless and tearing, upset and confused wondering where things went so wrong. She didn't understand how two weeks of constant flirting and hand holding and such could be erased from memory in less than an hour. The thinking was hurting her brain so she just stared up to the ceiling, hypnotized by the nothingness that was her bedroom.

"Ginny it'll be alright, I'll get to the bottom of this if it's the last thing I do. But try not to think about it it'll only bring you down further. Here this should clear your head from boy troubles, what were you going to tell me earlier?"

//Oh yeah, great, thanks Herm, clear my head of boy troubles by bringing up my biggest one yet!// Ginny was no longer so much in the mood of confessing to anything at the moment, so she just brushed it off by saying through sobs, "Huh? Oh, nothing, don't worry about it. *sniff* I mean the whole Harry-Cho thing, *sniff* there's no way I'm toping that one. Um, Hermione I think I'm just going to go to sleep."

"Alright, I understand, good night."

Ginny turned over to her side facing the wall instead of Hermione, and stared at the dark, flowery, wall-paper for the rest of the night.

The next day Ginny heard the door close in the morning, but she was so tired from lack of sleep that she didn't move. After staring at it for more than 12 hours, Ginny had memorized every single line, crack, and petal on the wall paper, and after ten more minutes, she needed a new view. She rolled over and saw the rest of her room for the first time in what seemed like a week. The sunlight that was shining through her windows was blinding her so she went to the bathroom to wash her face.

When she came back out, she saw a note on her door that she hadn't noticed before. She walked over and saw that it was from Hermione, it read:

Ginny,

How are you feeling? I'm sorry that I couldn't help you

as much as I usually do, I wish I did. I know that you didn't

get any sleep last night because I know you and to you the

term "sleeping on it" means lying awake the whole night.

Because of this, I decided it'd be better not to "wake you up"

for breakfast, so I've gone down by myself. (I'm also going

to try to squeeze something out of Harry or Ron about what

happened last night at dinner). Wish me luck and feel better.

Love,

Hermione

P.S. Please try to come to Hogsmeade today, however if you

don't want to I'll understand. Let me know when I get back

from breakfast and we'll decide together because no matter

what I'm staying with you today!

Ginny smiled and put the letter down on her bedside table. She was on her way to the shower when she realized what Hermione had written. //Hogsmeade!! Oh my gosh that's today!?!? Oh great now what am I supposed to do?!// Ginny paced around the room trying to think of a solution, but when she couldn't make up her mind whether to stay or not, she decided to shower and think about it when Hermione came back.

With a towel wrapped around her now dripping body, Ginny came out of her dormitory bathroom and headed to her closet to pick out some clothes for the day. She couldn't decide between pyjamas to stay in, or a shirt and jeans to go to Hogsmeade. She was in the middle of eeny-meeny-miny-mo when she heard the door creak open. She quickly whipped her head to see who it was, but calmed down when she saw it was just Hermione.

"Hey Herm, how was breakfast?" Ginny said a bit more cheerfully.

"It was alright, I brought you back some toast and juice if you'd like."

"Thank you, just leave them on my bed please, I'll have them a little later."

"Alright," Hermione said solemnly. "So how're you feeling?"

"Crappy. And I don't think I want to go to Hogsmeade today."

"OK well then we'll just stay here together, play some cards and stuff like that."

"Actually, I was thinking about it," Ginny replied slowly. "And as sweet as that offer is, I want you to go to Hogsmeade. I mean it's the first one after the break and I don't want you to miss out because of me."

"Are you sure? I don't want to leave you here by yourself. I mean don't you want to talk?"

"No honestly I'll be ok I just need some space. But thanks Hermione. Really, thanks." Ginny was sincere, but she could tell that Hermione was worried and wasn't buying it. She pulled a smile on her face, made it look as real as she could, and then walked out of room while saying, "I'm going for a walk, I'll see you later Herm! If anyone asks where I am just tell them I'm not feeling well ok? Bye!"

"But Ginny wait! I have something to tell you!"

"Tell me later, you need to get ready! Bye!" And she shut the door behind her without another look at Hermione.

About an hour later, she was leaning out of the Astronomy tower window, watching her friends as they went down to Hogsmeade. Everyone was laughing and smiling, happy as can be, Ginny felt sick.

"We meet again my pet; I knew you'd be here,"

Ginny spun around rapidly to see who the voice belonged to, "Malfoy, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be on your way to Hogsmeade?"

"No, not me. I'm too old for those trips." Draco said macho-like.

"Oh that's nice, and the real reason is?"

He tutted as if he had no idea what she was talking about, but the look in his eyes were pleading for her not to ask again so considering she didn't really care, she cut him a break and kept her mouth shut. Getting bored of him, Ginny turned back around to lean out of the window. She watched her friends as they laughed some more, when Malfoy broke the silence. "You try to be with them, but you'll always end up in the dark. With me." He wrapped his arms around her stomach from behind and continued, "What would they think of you? If they found out all the things you've done? What would they say?" He ran his fingers up and down her arm, and she closed her eyes and basked in the feelings that he gave her. "If they knew who you really were." He lowered his hands to her upper thigh and began massaging it slowly.

"Don't," Ginny whispered.

"Stop me." But she couldn't stop him, as much as she knew she had to, she just couldn't bring herself to end her forbidden pleasure. He pushed her underwear aside and began satisfying her like no other. She closed her eyes, unable to look at her friends while touching her enemy.

He looked at her and said, "No, don't close your eyes. Look at them. That's not your world. You belong in the shadows. With me." She was panting now, unable to understand why she wasn't down there with Hermione and Ron instead of here with Malfoy. "Look at them and tell me that you don't love getting away with this, right under their noses." He said devilishly.

He took his hand out of her pants and turned her around. She looked into his eyes. Those eyes that she had seen many a time already and she saw his hunger.

"Tell me you love me." She begged quietly.

"I love you." He searched her eyes for some understanding of what she was getting at but he didn't find it.

"Tell me you want me."

"I always want you."

She looked through his eyes once again, and then without thinking, she kissed him hard on the lips. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in closer, wanting to loose herself in his embrace again. He of course, went along with every single thing she did. They wrapped themselves around each other and he went inside her once more. The only time they stopped was when they heard the students coming back from Hogsmeade, and by then they were both quite tired anyways.

Ginny got up and began gathering her stuff without a word to him. She was putting on her sock when he said, "You know, I hate that you always go back to treating me like dirt until you got another itch you can't scratch. I'm not gonna let it happen again. I'm done being you're whipping boy. You can act as high and mighty as you like, but I know where you live now, Weasel, I've tasted it."

She turned to look at him and said, "Get a grip. Like you're G-d's gift"

He snickered and replied, "Hardly, but then it wouldn't be nearly as interesting would it?"

With her shoes on, she tried to walk past him towards the door but he blocked her and grabbed her arm. "No, let me go." She said.

"Look, I may be dirt Weasley, but you're the one who likes to roll in it. You never had it as good as me. Never."

"You know, you're bent."

"Yeah, that's what everyone else will think too."

"I swear to God, if you tell anyone about this, I will kill you."

"Right." He brought her pink lace thong up to her face and said, "You gonna want these too?"

Ginny grabbed her thong and began walking towards the door again.

"Do you even like me?" Draco called out after her. She paused at the door way, not knowing how to respond, and then she continued on out of the tower without a single word to him.
