Chapter 6
The Burrow
"Draco!"
Blaise threw herself at him, hugging him tightly; he looked quite taken aback. He patted her.
"Erm...there, there?" he said, not quite understanding what the fuss was about.
"Where were you?" she asked. He realized that taking the detour to the Mansion, plus trying to get through the endless traffic, had delayed his arrival time by about nine hours.
"I'm fashionably late. Come on Blaise, get with it."
She gave him a glare, but it was still evident that she was exceptionally happy to see him there.
She stood back, and Draco saw, for the first time, that there was a Weasley sitting on her bed.
"Hello," she said.
"Erm...hello," he said, not quite sure of how to talk to a Weasley in a civil manner. It's not that he hated them (except Ron could sure be an arse), but after years of being taught to taunt them and pick on them he had no idea how to be nice to one.
There was a very awkward silence.
"Um, right. I'm gonna go."
Ginny turned and walked out, and headed towards her own bedroom.
She couldn't help thinking about how good Malfoy had looked...

Harry sat in Ron's room on the floor, ignoring the loud snores being emitted by his sleeping best friend. He was fingering the clear tawny gem again.
It was Sirius who had given it to him; he said it had been in James's possession, and been his family for centuries. Engraved in the center of the smooth stone was a moon. He had done research on it; the stone was a Gnostic gem, and crafted by the Romans to protect from evil magic. Harry had more than once wondered if the reason Voldemort kept fucking up his plans to kill him was because of the Chalcedony he carried with him.
He looked outside. There was a faint drizzle of rain coming down, and fog swirling around the gardens below. Harry held up his right hand, the Chalcedony still clutched in his left, and pointed it towards the sky.

Ginny was watching the rain from her bed. She sat with her knees at her chest, her arms resting a top them. Her mind was racing. She had never believed in heartbreak before; now, every thought of Sirius made her chest ache. She hadn't wanted to admit it, but it was true. She had loved him.
"Virginia," he had told her, his voice ragged with regret, "we have to end it."
She had sighed.
"I know," she whispered.
"It's wrong. It's...well, it's illegal. And Harry..."
"Sirius, I know. I can get over it."
He nodded, and pulled her in to a tight embrace, one arm cradling the back of her head and the other resting at the small of her back.
"Virginia," he had told her, "...I love you."
Tears escaped her eyes. He had loved her, and she had loved him. The thought of never being with him was gut-wrenching.
"Get over him," she spoke out loud, although in a hushed whisper. "You can find someone else. You're fifteen. Date around."
She resumed looking out the window, only to discover the fog had disappeared and it the sky was almost white with snow.

"You'll be fine."
"No I won't. You don't get it. I'm mortal enemies with half the people in this house."
"Uh, sweetie...I think it's more than half. But they'll get over it."
Draco looked skeptical.
"Well, Gin's really nice," she offered.
He scoffed.
"Yes, I'm so sure that we'd get along well. 'Say, Gin, remember that time you got possessed and it was all my father's fault and it completely ruined your life?' Fantastic conversation starter, don't you think?"
"Draco, be reasonable. Just try and be nice."
Draco never answered; he merely got up and left for his room.
Author notes: Chalcedony: This stone is a translucent quartz, usually milky white but sometimes a pale blue or fawn brown. Many Gnostic gems were negraved with the symbol of the Moon, for the stone's waxlike luster is moonlike. The Romans wore the stone as protection from the ravages of the Evil Eye, and it also combats negative magic. - Magic Charms from A to Z.
NEXT CHAPTER: Ginny has her own uber-powers, which may or may not lead her to a very topless Draco; Harry gets a new crush, because he is hormonal and unable to just like one girl at a time.
