Hermione's Point of View.

You, with your perfect hair and flashing eyes and sculpted face.

You, with your irrepressible smirk and throaty laugh and cutting humour.

You, with your dark connections and questionable loyalties and ruthless nature.

You, with your perpetual aloofness and schooled coldness and inherent bigotry.

You, who claim to be superior, but bow down, begrudgingly, to my knowledge.

You, who claim the power of purebloods, but choose the weak path of murder.

You, who claim the strength of the Dark, but are too scared to embrace the Light.

You, who claim to fight your upbringing, but still cannot break the mold.

You, everything I don't need, but everything I want.

You, everything that shuns me, but everything that calls to me.

You, everything that repulses me, but everything I lust.

You, everything I have learnt to hate, but everything I find myself beginning to love.

Draco's Point of View.

Silken lips that spout spell and prose,

A haughty brow atop a regal nose;

Impure blood disguised by unimpeachable grandeur,

Uncertainty masked by confidence, firm and sure.

Quick of wit and ethereal of face,

But not my class; not worthy of my grace.

Powerful, true; with magic that's strong,

But this realm is not yours; you don't belong.

Thoughts chase each other around in my mind:

Confusing those feelings I find hard to define.

I've been taught one thing; wish to practice another;

Too many emotions to suppress or smother.

Hard to overcome what I learnt before:

Don't know if I can; if I want to...not sure.

The only thing certain is the confusion I feel:

Not trusting what I was taught, but not knowing what's real.

"Out of the way, Granger!" Draco Malfoy spat out.

"You move, you spoilt S.O.B." Hermione stood her ground. "The school hallways aren't yours!"

"Well, I can assure you, if they were, your kind would not be allowed to traipse along, polluting the air with your noxious Mudblood breaths."

Hermione rolled her eyes. "We breathe the same air, you ignoramus. But yes, at moments like this I do wish you were right about noxious breath...a little poison would do you a lot of good."

Draco scoffed. "Oh, you just want to kill me, don't you?"

Hermione nodded agreeably. "As slowly and painfully as possible."

Draco threw his hands up in frustration. "You dream too much, Mudblood. It'll be your undoing one of these days." With that, he stalked away.

Hermione turned to walk in the opposite direction, whispering, "That, and other things."

Draco and Hermione's Point of View

Another run-in:

A chance encounter

Between the two;

One hunter and another.

Neither knowing

The roles they play,

Yet the masks stay up

With every word they say.

Insults abound,

Denials galore;

A verbal spar

Where they both keep score.

Admittance is defeat,

But there is no victory in sight:

When love is suppressed

And pride fuels a fight.

They scurry like rabbits,

Frightened by a glare

Of the light of promise;

Of what could be there.
