The Wedding: Chapter 2

The rising sun woke up the Potions Master. Unlike Morwen, Snape was more responsive in the morning. He rose, stretched, and got out of bed. Upon getting out of bed he noticed his "tux" and groaned.

"How did I let her talk me into this?" he asked picking up the kilt and giving one of his patented scowls. 'You were talked into this because you love her and would do anything for her,' he thought.

And it was true. Who knew that giving detentions was going to be so good for his love life? It was in detention that he had met Morwen. It is true that in the beginning he didn't like her or her friends much. They were destructive, loud, and had managed to tie him to a chair and throw a party more than once. But Morwen would defend him and even sometimes make advances at him. Over time her had grown to love her and tolerate her friends. He actually enjoyed detention with them. Not that he would tell them that.

Now he was marring her, and in doing so he would effectively add himself to the Detention Family Tree TM, which was an invention of Starry Eyes.

Dumbledore opened the door as Severus was thinking about belonging to the tree and effectively ending his train of thought.

"Don't you know how to knock, Albus?" asked Snape angrily.

"OH sorry, Severus. Would you like me to go out and come back in, after knocking of course?" said Dumbledore with a twinkle of mischief in his eye.

"Don't be stupid, Albus. Come in if you want."

"Ah, thank you, Severus. I will," he said making himself at home in Snape's quarters. "Would you like some breakfast?"

"Just coffee," Snape said. He rang for a house elf and requested coffee. "Would you like anything, Albus?" he courteously asked.

"Yes, I would quite enjoy some toast and jam." Snape amended the order to include Albus' request. "So Severus, today is the big day. How do you feel?"

"Sick," he said, and to prove it he put a hand over his stomach.

"Ah, yes. Well I hear that is quite normal, although I have not experienced it. 'Prewedding jitters' Muggles call it. I can get Poppy to get you something if you like."

"No, I would rather not have to go my wedding day with steam coming out of my ears, thank you. And speaking of you not having experiencing jitters, when are you going to ask Minerva to marry you?" Snape said giving Albus a smirk. He loved throwing Albus off his guard.

"Ah, well...," Albus started hesitantly only to be interrupted by Remus bringing in a breakfast tray. "Remus, thank Merlin," said Albus under his breath.

"Decided to give up teaching and be a house elf, Remus?" Severus said with a half smile on his face.

"I will let you get away with that because you are getting married today. And no, I was coming down to get you when I saw a house elf cringing at your door trying to overcome his fear to bring you your breakfast. So I decided to come to it's rescue and bring it in my self," Remus stated.

"How noble," Severus said sarcastically.

"Ah, Remus you have gotten married. Tell Severus what you felt on that momentous day," said Dumbledore trying to change the subject.

"Yes, well I felt sick. It is a big commitment, and no man can feel good about committing their whole life to one woman," he said.

"Well it is a good thing you have two isn't it?" he said acidly.

"I didn't help, did I?" Severus shook his head in the negative. "Well you love Morwen and just 'cause you feel sick now doesn't mean a thing. I felt sick, and I got over it. Now I am in love even more with my wives."

"I have to think about this. This is the rest of my life and I'm not sure if I want to commit just yet." With that he left his room and went to his private study to think things over.

He had been thinking this over in his study for about twenty minutes when he heard something being slipped under his door. "Probably Albus giving me some words of wisdom, barmy old codger."

He opened the letter and began to read:

My dearest Severus,

I just want to start out by saying I love you with every fiber of my being and I will always love you.

Severus, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I can't wait to wake up to your scowling face every morning and know that I am yours. Every moment I am with you I am filled with a sense of completeness and joy. If anything ever happened to you I would cease to live. Maybe not in the physical sense, but mentally. I would never be able to think anything of anything besides you, and I would waste away without your love.

I wanted you to know how I truly feel. We have never really spoken of our true feelings for each other, and I just wanted to share mine with you before we are joined forever.

I love you,

Morwen Boehme.

Smiling, Severus folded the letter and placed it back into the envelope. 'I love you too, Morwen. And I will always love you.' he thought. Severus put the letter in his desk and went to his room to change.

In his room he looked skeptically at the attire he was suppose to wear. It consisted of a black jacket, a puffy shirt, a tie, kneesocks, and the dreaded kilt. Morwen had always fancied him in a kilt, and had insisted that he wear it for the wedding as his tuxedo instead of the traditional wedding robes. He had only agreed when she refused to give him certain... privileges.

"You love her. You love her. You love her," he kept repeating this mantra in his head while putting on the ridiculous outfit. 'They are going to laugh. I can feel it,' he thought.

The door flew open and Remus walked in his more conservative wedding attire. He looked Severus up and down with a small smirk on his face. "Nice. I'm guessing Morwen picked that out?"

"Didn't you ever learn to knock? It is very simple. You can probably get one of your wives to teach you," said Snape trying to tie the ridiculous "fanny pack" thing.

"Well, can you get it done up, or do you need my help?" Remus asked with a polite smile that faded when Snape gave him a withering look. "Right, well it is time to go. So come along then." Snape reluctantly followed his best man, another thing Morwen had suggested.

They were sitting on his couch, Morwen leaning with her back on Severus's chest. He was trailing his hand down her arm when she interrupted. She had probably not noticed his playful mood considering her next statement. "How about Remus for your best man?" she asked innocently.

"Oh wait I have a better idea! How about we ask He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named to be my best man?"

"OK no reason to get cranky," she said sitting up on the couch. "I was just thinking Diamond is my maid of honor, and the Maid of Honor has to walk down the aisle with the best man. Why not let her walk down with her best man, Remus?"

"No, I will not have him as my best man."

"Well who do you want to be your best man then if you are so averse to Remus?"

"I don't know yet," he said while lowering his head to avoid her gaze.

"I see you don't know who you want to be the best man, and you don't want Remus. Right, that is stupid. I tell you what; if you haven't picked out a person to be your best man, Remus will be it. How does that sound?"

"Unfair, but I will do it just to make you happy," he said, cupping her face with his hand.

"Thank you," she said smiling, and then settling back into his embrace.

They had finally reached the outdoors. Remus led the way to the arch that Severus and Morwen were to be married under. The arch was covered in icicles and poking through the lattice were white lilies, Morwen's favorite flower.

"Now you stand here," Remus said placing Snape in his appropriate spot. "I have to go and meet the girls. We are walking down the isle together."

"Right," said Severus. "I'll just stand here in the freezing cold and wait for you all to get your acts together."

Finally, everyone was seated. The couples of grooms, in formal robes, and bride's maids, in Day-Glo pink dresses, were lined up and were starting to walk down the isle. When Sree reached the arch she pulled out her wand and muttered, "Sonorus," and began to sing. By the time she reached, "And I hope you are the one I share my life with..." Morwen appeared at the end of the isle. He immediately locked eyes with her.

"I'm getting married," whispered Severus softly.
