Chapter 12

Paris's Secret Hercules's Life

That weekend went on painfully and slowly. Harry had been tired all the time didn't talk to anybody at all. Seeing Paris and Malfoy together only made his pain hurt even more. Hermione and Ron still weren't talking like friends, but that didn't stop them from talking about Harry. They looked at him like that were worried that Harry might do something.

Harry dragged into Potions late. His eyes were dark and his head bowed. Two days off of classes didn't work for him to clear his mind like he had intended to. From the way everybody looked at him when they looked away from Snape meant that they were shocked to see The Boy Who Lived in such a state. Harry knew that they were staring at him and it didn't make anything any better. He couldn't look up because he knew he'd only see Paris looking at him, and that she'd be sitting next to Malfoy.

"Well, thank you for finally showing up for class, Potter," Professor Snape sneered. "Do you realize that you are thirty minutes late to class?"

Harry didn't answer; he just looked up a little to find the nearest empty seat (which just happened to be next to Hermione) and then sat down. He stared at the carvings on the wooden table.

"Mr. Potter," Snape repeated. "Mr. Potter!" Snape banged his fist against the podium making everybody jump, except Harry who seemed to be in his own little world.

Harry felt a jab in his side but ignored it. Then when the jab was harder, he looked over at Hermione who was looking at him like he was insane. She cocked her head in Snape's way and Harry looked over at him.

"Twenty points from Gryffindor," Snape hissed. "You can thank Mr. Potter and Miss. Granger for that. Ten from Mr. Potter for ignoring a professor and ten from Miss. Granger for getting Mr. Potter's attention when I could've gotten it perfectly well."

"THAT'S NOT FAIR!" Harry yelled, bolting up and pounding his fists against the table. "HERMIONE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! JUST TAKE THE POINTS AWAY FROM ME!"

"You're exactly right, Mr. Potter," Snape replied me in a menacing voice. "No points taken off from Miss. Granger, thirty points off you. I swear you're just like your father, sticking his nose in business not meant for him."

"At least my father had a normal size nose," Harry hissed, still standing, his knuckles turning whiter by the second. "Unlike yours, which is abnormally huge."

All the Gryffindor's in the room groaned, knowing that more points were going to be taken away from their house. But giggled only for a second.

Snape glared at Harry. "Detention Mr. Potter. I guess its true that the apple doesn't fall from the tree. You father had a knack for getting into trouble the way you did. Just like Black."

"DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT SIRIUS! YOU HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT! SO STOP STICKING YOUR OVERGROWN NOSE INTO OTHER PEOPLES BUSINESS!"

"You do know that the more you talk, the more detentions you're getting," Snape asked, "and the more points your taking from Gryffindor. You're already at about a hundred. Keep going."

"YOU SHOULD TAKE THAT STICK OUT OF YOUR ARSE AND REALIZE WHAT MY FATHER DID FOR YOU!"

"You're father tried to kill-."

"MY FATHER SAVED YOUR UNGREATFUL ARSE! IF IT WEREN'T FOR MY FATHER, YOUR BE DEAD RIGHT NOW! AND IN MY OPINION, HE SHOULD'VE LEFT YOU TO GO TO HE-!"

"OUT OF MY CLASSROM RIGHT NOW, POTTER! AND DON'T MAKE A POINT OF COMING BACK TO MY CLASSROOM AGAIN! I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THE HEADMASTER WILL HEAR ABOUT THI-!"

"DO YOU SERIOUSLY BELIEVE THAT I GIVE A DAMN ABOUT COMING HERE!? COMING HERE WAS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS I EVER DID! IT ONLY KILLS ME, AND PUTS THOSE I LOVE IN DANGER! THE ONLY REASON I WOULD STAY IS TO BE SURE THAT VOLDEMORT KILLS YOU! OH YEAH, HE WOULDN'T KILL ONE OF HIS FOLLOWERS UNTIL THEY REALLY SCREWED THE FUCK UP! BUT HE CAN THANK YOU FOR GETTING MY ARSE OUT OF HERE!"

Harry roughly grabbed his bag and stormed out of the dungeons, leaving everyone in shock.

"CLASS DISMISSED!" Snape roared. Scared, everyone grabbed their stuff and got the hell out of the dungeons before Snape killed somebody.

Later that day, Harry stared out of the window in his four-poster. He had skipped the rest of his classes after Potions and had spent the entire day in his four-poster, glaring at anyone who dared to talk to him. Everybody got the hint, and let him be.

Paris wanted to cry. She hated how she had made Harry feel. How could she kiss Malfoy when she loved Harry? And worse, there was probably no chance of ever getting Harry back.

The first night they spent talking made her realize he was the one for her. But now, there was no more of those beautiful nights.

~*~

It was a quiet night, and Paris couldn't sleep. She kept thinking. Maybe walking would help clear her mind. So she crawled out of bed and out of her common room. She didn't expect anybody to be out of bed, so she didn't worry about running into a professor.

Paris turned into a long corridor. Shadows were lurking everywhere, but there was nothing in there. She wrapped her arms around herself, and continued walking. Then the lights flickered and then the corridor was dark.

She turned around and saw that she had walked a long distance away from the entrance to this corridor. There was still light back there, but she could barely see it. It looked as if she'd walked a mile, but it still looked like she had just entered the corridor.

"Paris..."

Paris whipped around, her wand in hand.

"Lumos," she whispered and light emerged from her wand. No one was there.

"Paris...Come with me..."

She recognized the voice. "No," she whispered. "I can't."

"Awe, come on, Paris," He hissed. "You can't stay here. Nobody wants you here. If you come with me, everybody will love you for eternity."

"No," she tried to make her voice sound more confident, but he scared her so much. "I have friends. I have my cousin. And...I love Harry."

"No you don't. It was all just a game. You were doing your job for me. You don't love him. And he doesn't love you."

"Why are you tormenting me like this?" She cried. "It's been nine years! Please, just leave me alone!"

"I'm sorry, Paris. I can't do that. You sold your soul to me to save your parents life, and what do they do? They run off."

"I can't help you anymore," she whispered, falling to her knees. "I love him. I won't let you hurt him."

"Paris, Paris, Paris. You silly little girl. I understand, you're young, you don't know what you're saying. In time you'll know that I'm the right choice."

"No! I won't join you! Leave me alone!"

"All I need from you is to find out what his weaknesses are."

"I won't do it. Besides, he won't even talk to me. I don't need you. I've had enough. I don't need you."

"Oh but princess, yes you do. Because if you do this, I'll give the one thing you want more then anything."

"And what's that?"

"You're freedom."

She heard no more.

~*~

Harry frowned when he saw Paris the next morning. Sure, he wanted nothing to do with her, but when he saw the way she looked it made him want to run over to her and hold her.

No, he thought. You've run to her plenty of times. She's the one that betrayed you. Forget about her.

He shook his head and walked over to where Hermione, Ron, and Nick were sitting. He didn't eat anything.

"Good morning, Professor," he heard Hermione saying. Harry looked behind him and saw Dumbledore standing there.

"Good morning, Miss. Granger, Mr. Weasley, and Mr. Kent," McGonagall said. "Mr. Potter, may I have a word?"

Wordlessly, Harry got up and followed McGonagall to the Headmaster's office.

"Berties," McGonagall mumbled and soon they were on their way up the to Dumbledore's office. When they got there, McGonagall knocked.

"Come in," they heard him saying. McGonagall opened the door, and let Harry go in first. "Ah, Mr. Potter. Thank you for coming. Thank you Minerva for bringing him here."

She nodded, left the room and closed the door.

"So, Mr. Potter, Professor Snape tells me you were running your mouth in his class?" Dumbledore asked him questioningly, wondering if this was just some trick of Snape's to get Harry kicked out of Hogwarts.

"I was late for class," Harry said softly, looking down at the floor.

"There was some talk about your father and Sirius?"

"He started insulting them. What was I supposed to do? Just sit there and listen to him insult my dad and Sirius?"

"No, but yelling threats at a Professor is unheard of," Dumbledore sighed. "You probably know what I have to do now, don't you?"

"Fine, go ahead," Harry whispered. "Expel me."

"I'm putting you on probation," Dumbledore said, rummaging through his drawers. Harry's head snapped up. "You are not to go anywhere near thirty feet to Professor Snape for the next five months. You are not to go down to the dungeons either. If you are caught down there, you will be expelled. Is that understood?"

Too shocked to speak, Harry nodded.

"Here," Dumbledore pushed papers toward Harry. "Sign all of these at the bottom."

Harry grabbed the pen and signed all of the papers.

"These are your copies," Dumbledore said, handing Harry a few papers. "That is all. You may go."

Harry nodded and left the room before Dumbledore would change his mind.
