Surprises

"Why are blond guys so handsome?" Harry thought as he looked across the hall at Malfoy.

"Why, Harry, I never thought you'd ask that?" Hermione shockingly replied.

It was then that the Golden Boy realized that he must have been thinking aloud, too loud. In fact, it was too loud that everyone around him was looking at him in varying degrees of surprise and astonishment.

"I think I should go!" Harry said as he scrambled to his feet and quickly left the Great Hall, leaving everything and everyone behind.

Ron, seated beside the two, hurriedly finished his breakfast and stood to follow Harry outside. But Hermione quickly grabbed his hand, "Where are you going?"

"To follow Harry, what else?" the redhead replied.

"But Ron, our class will start in a few minutes."

"Precisely why I'm going to follow Harry," said the redhead as a matter-of-factly. "Isn't he going to class?"

"I don't think he'll want to attend class anytime now," Hermione replied. "I'm going to see where he's going, and you go ahead and save us seats."

"But..."

"No buts, Ron!"

Harry went straight to the nearest bathroom. His face felt like it was on fire and he splashed some cold water on it, trying to analyze what had just happened.

The door swung wide open revealing a highly amused Hermione. "Harry, what's going on?"

"I'm so sorry, Hermione, that I never told you, and the other guys that I'm gay, and..."

"Harry, I already know..."

"You do?"

"Well, I didn't really know -- just a hunch. Then again after what happened earlier, I believe I do," Hermione replied with a small amused smile. "However, I was quite surprised that you like blond guys, a particular blond guy, I suppose ..."

Harry's face turned red. "Oh, that. Actually, I haven't really thought about it... until earlier."

"Then I guess you should figure that out as quickly as you can before the morning Prophet. We both know that I wasn't the only one who heard you earlier."

"Oh no! Do you think they would've figured it out?"

"Some would have," Hermione said, "and they will tell the rest I guess. Harry... not every one is as oblivious as Ron. He'll try everything to make a scenario that doesn't involve you, Draco, and love letters."

"Right, I better do something about that. Hermione, thank you for understanding," Harry said with great relief. "But really, you didn't have to follow me inside the bathroom just to see if I was okay. You could have just waited outside."

Hermione sniggered. "Harry, this is the girls' lavatory. I can come here whenever I want."

"Oh shit!" Harry said, walking towards the door.

"Don't forget to get your things from the Great Hall, Harry!" Hermione reminded, trying to suppress her laugh and not succeeding. "You don't want to be late for class."

"Bugger off, Hermione," Harry closed the door behind him, and as he hastily went off to the Great Hall, he bumped into someone. No, it was not just someone. It was Draco Malfoy.

"Ooh, someone's in a hurry," the blond said, no purred, as he steadied Harry by grabbing his arms. "Looking for these? You seemed to have an urgent need to leave the Great Hall."

"..."

"Cat ate your tongue? Obviously what made you flee earlier is still present since you're as red as a Weasley."

"Very funny, Malfoy," Harry finally said as he took his bag from the blond guy and made his way to his next class. But before he could get far, Draco called him once more.

"Do tell me, Potter. What is it with blond guys that you find so charming?"

Harry turned and answered him. "I never said charming, I said hand--." He quickly shut his mouth before he could finish the sentence. He could feel the warmth creeping up to his cheeks.

Draco walked towards him. "Oh it was handsome, my mistake. So Potter," he was now an inch away from him, "why do you think I am handsome?"

"I... I never said..."

"You really can't talk properly today, can you?" Draco was so close that Harry could feel his warm breath on his cheek. "I'll see you around," Draco whispered next to his ear, straightened and walked away.
