- Just a quick little one shot (only one page in Word) that I did one night to clear the brain before bed. I don't remember what inspired it, but I just thought... hmmm... that would be interesting...
Tonight I'm going to kill the man responsible for my parents' death. He betrayed them, and now he will die. I used to hold him in high regard, when I thought that he too held my father and mother in high regard. Then he killed them. And now, I will kill him.
He thinks I didn't know that he traded sides, but I know. He'll know soon too now, as I wait outside, watching him. He's moving around his kitchen, going about his business, preparing a meal for one. He's always been alone. He'll be easier to kill that way.
The wind is rustling my cloak, but I hardly notice, my mind is so set on the task ahead of me. My stomach is wrenched in anticipation. I've been thinking about killing him since the day I found out he was the one who betrayed my parents. I never thought I would kill him, of all people, but now I must. I will never forgive myself if I don't.
My hand is holding tightly to my wand, and there is a chill in the air, but I hardly notice. I listen for anyone that could be around. Luckily, he doesn't have many visitors, not when you're a traitor like he is.
He's always been fond of solitude. He was never married, and the rest of his family lives in the city. He chose a country house, away from everyone and everything. He doesn't even keep a staff, not even a pet. He is completely, utterly alone.
I start on the walk, my feet moving slowly and quietly. He was a Death Eater after all, from the end of his years at Hogwarts to... I don't know when he left, when he betrayed them all. My hand reaches for the knob on the front door, and I use a silencing charm, so he won't be alerted to my intrusion. He's listening to some filthy Muggle music. I reluctantly recognize the composer; Beethoven. I don't know how I could have never realized that he was a traitor. He might be pure blooded, like myself, but he might as well be like the rest of the Mudblood filth that my father was trying to rid the Wizarding world of.
I've successfully entered his house without him discovering me. He's still in the kitchen; he has his back to me as I approach. He is a great warrior; I have seen him fight, and I have to remind myself not to gloat. If I falter for even one second, it might mean my death instead of his. I stop in the doorway, and watch his long black hair fall in his face as he cleans his kitchen. He could easily use magic to clean up, but I know him, he enjoys being thorough, and the only way he thinks he can be thorough is to do everything himself. Perhaps that is why he has always been alone.
I have to remember my task. I have not been assigned this by anyone but myself. I have decided to do it, and I will do it. For my father, for the sake of our bloodline, and the few others that have remained pure. Pure of blood and pure of mind as well. He ruined his bloodline with his sympathy for Mudbloods. He used to be a man, but Dumbledore got to him. Now I must kill him.
"Professor Snape," I say coldly. In a few moments, he will be dead. I've startled him, and he turns around quickly. He doesn't have his wand with him.
He breathes a slight sigh of relief, forgetting what he's taken away from me, "Draco."
I will kill him.
