Never Choose Dare

Our favorite Gryffindors were playing Truth or Dare, and Lily chose Dare. Read on to find out what happens next...

Chapter 2: The Dare

Lily got up around 9:00, as she was wont to do on Saturday mornings. She got sleepily out of bed, stumbled into the shower, and finally woke up completely. She got dressed and hurried down to breakfast- she was hungry!

When she arrived in the Great Hall, her best friends Heather, Laura, and Hannah flagged her down. After eating a stack of pancakes (YUM!!), Lily noticed a tall shadow that fell across her place at the table. Without turning around, she knew who it was.

"What now, Black?" She asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"I'm just the messenger, don't hurt me," Sirius replied, sitting down and offering her a note. "If you want to hurt someone, hurt your friend, Laura over there."

Lily looked puzzled, and then remembered. They had been playing Truth or Dare, and she was waiting for her dare. Apparently, it had arrived.

"Thank you Black," Lily replied in a dangerous monotone, after taking the offered parchment. "Now leave me in peace."

Lily started to open the note, then paused. If Remus and Black had thought this up, she wanted to open this in private. After a quick "See ya later, off to do homework" to her friends, Lily went outside to sit under her favorite tree on the grounds.

Only when she was sure the ground was dry and no one was around, Lily opened the note.

Audeo te dormire cum Iames. She mouthed wordlessly.

*Lily thinking* I dare you to sleep with James

"OH MY GOD!!! BLACK!!!! LAURA!!!! REMUS!!!!" Lily yelled at the top of her lungs.

"You rang?" Sirius replied freakishly soon after Lily yelled.

Lily jumped. "You scare the Hell out of me sometimes you-you-you- idiotic prat!"

"Tongue tied, eh?" Sirius asked casually.

Lily growled and looked past him to where her friend Laura was running towards her at top speed.

"What's wrong?" Laura asked, breathing heavily. "I heard you all the way inside. What's up?"

"The note." Lily fairly growled.

Laura looked appropriately sheepish at this, but really wanted to grin. Like Sirius, she had a love of making Lily angry. Her wish was not to have her head bit off by said red-head, unlike Sirius, but she thought it was funny nonetheless.

"I had no say in it," she protested- lying through her teeth. "I wanted to make you do something stupid, like ask him out or kiss him in the middle of dinner, or something, but they made me. You know, Remus can be quite persuasive."

Lily grimaced, "OOO BAD MENTAL IMAGE, BAD MENTAL IMAGE!!"

With that, she ran off to talk to Hannah, who would sympathize with her. She hoped.

Hannah was lounging on one of the comfy armchairs by the fire when Lily stormed in, her long red hair streaming out behind her.

"Look at this!" Lily exclaimed, as she thrust a small, folded piece of parchment at her friend.

"What is it?" Hannah asked curiously, while quickly translating the message. Once she got it, she sobered up quickly

"Oh," she whispered, almost to herself. Then, "well, you know what the consequence is if you don't, so which one are you going to pick?"

Lily, who didn't fancy having 'I love John Cleese' written on her forehead for 2 weeks, thought quickly.

"I'll do it, then."
