Never Choose Dare

Prologue

It started as a dare, true. A conspiracy to get two people who were meant to be together finally, and at long last, together. The result? No one could have fathomed it...

Chapter 1: Truth or Dare

It was a Friday in the Gryffindor common room, and as usual, our favorite Gryffindors (and some others) were playing their favorite Friday night game: Truth or Dare.

*sound effects* boom, crash, lightning, dum dum dum etc.

The players? James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Lily Evans, Hannah Smith, and Laura Fraser.

The game started as any other game would have. Remus was dared to kiss Laura; Sirius had to confess his deep undying love for Lily's friend, Heather; James had to brave the girl's staircase; Peter was tortured into saying that he had never been kissed by a girl (which Hannah soon fixed), and Laura confessed that she liked Remus, and kissed him.

Finally, it was Lily's turn. Laura started with the simple,

"Truth, or dare?"

Lily thought for a moment; then she responded. "Dare"

Now, Lily never EVER chose dare. EVER. So, the rest of the group was in shock.

Laura thought for a moment, conversed with Remus (who had his arm around her shoulder) and finally seemed to come to a decision.

"Tomorrow at breakfast, I will give you a piece of parchment with a dare written in a foreign language, and you must translate it by dusk, or face the consequences."

"Do I know this language?" Lily asked.

"Yes," Laura replied, "in fact, you have this class Monday morning."

At Hogwarts, the 7^th years were required to take a class in Latin, due to the fact many spells came from Latin. Lily happened to have Latin as her first class of the day on the worst day of the week, which was a good thing, because she liked Latin, and was very good at it.

"Oh," Lily sighed in relief. "That should be easy."

"Yes," Laura replied, "but what of the dare?"

Lily gaped. She hadn't thought about the dare itself. Normally, Laura was a mild- mannered person, who was never inclined to prank anyone. But with the help of Remus- and probably Sirius, too- she had no idea what could happen.

"Please, Laura, nothing too embarrassing. No stealing underwear or anything else like that, okay?" Lily pleaded.

Laura got an evil look on her face. "Well, you had better plead with Sirius and Remus, not me. They are 100% in charge of this dare."

Lily got a most humorous look of horror on her face. The look of someone whose best friend just handed her fate over to the most infamous pranker of all times. And his best friend. It was a site to see.

"No," she moaned, "this can not happen. No. She didn't. She couldn't've"

Just to break the mood, and because it was too hard to resist, Sirius and James burst out laughing at the exact same time. Lily gave them identical glares full of pure fury, and they shut up.

Remus, being the ever-sensible one he was, looked up at the clock.

"Hate to break this up, but it's almost midnight, and I for one would like some sleep."

"Way to ruin our fun Remus," Sirius joked. "That look, it was priceless!"

Just then, all seven of the teens realized how tired they were, and headed off to their dormitories.
