Albus, Rose, and Scorpius made their way out of the train and onto the platform at Hogsmeade station. They caught a glimpse of James running towards the flock of horseless (or so it appeared) carriages. He flashed them a grin as he sprinted away, then he caught a glimpse of Scorpius. His grin turned into a look of utter confusion, and he collided with one of the carriages. Albus, Rose, and Scorpius were all laughing so hard they barely heard the call of, "Firs' years over here! Firs' years this way!"

It took only a second for them to spot Hagrid waiting for all of the first years so he could take them across the lake to the sorting ceremony in the great hall. It took him a bit longer to spot the three of them.

"Albus! Rose! Alrigh'?" asked Hagrid.

Then he spotted Scorpius with them and his face fell into the same distracted confusion that had overtaken James.

"HAGRID!" screamed Rose and Albus.

They finally reached him, and Rose ran and hugged him. Albus greeted him with a beaming smile.

"Er...hello...." said Scorpius quietly.

His parents had also expressed some pretty strong opinions on Hagrid the gamekeeper, who unmistakably had to be the man he was now conversing with.

"A Malfoy?" asked Hagrid, with his very best attempt at politeness.

"Yes...Scorpius...er...pleased to meet you." Scorpius finished with a bright smile.

He decided that his parents had been wrong enough about Potters and Weasleys...so he figured Hagrid could be good people as well.

At this point they began the walk over to the lake where they piled into a boat with a shy, and somewhat uncoordinated, boy by the name of Herbert.

Once the boat ride was over and they were safe and warm...and thankfully dry (everyone had managed to stay in their boat) they waited outside of the great hall for what seemed like hours for the ancient headmistress McGonagall to come back and bring them into the great hall for the sorting. No one was saying much, as they were all trying as hard as possible to keep up a tough and confident façade...and they all knew speaking would give away how nervous they were, and that would only be if they managed to not throw up at the moment they opened their mouth. Albus definitely felt like opening his mouth might induce vomiting. Despite what his father had told him, he was still terrified he would not end up in Gryffindor.

Finally the headmistress returned.

It was time.

They slowly filed into the great hall, terrified. They stood in a line facing the house tables. Albus and Rose looked over to the Gryffindor table and spotted James and Victoire. James was making rude gestures that really weren't much help. Victoire however flashed a friendly and encouraging smile which made Albus feel a little bit better. It seemed like ages he waited while his classmates were sorted. Soon it was time for Scorpius. The hat took a very long time with him; it must have been a full minute before the hat finally screamed, "GRYFFINDOR!"

There was a moment of shocked silence, and then many hushed whispers throughout the hall. Scorpius looked terrified, and mortified. Finally, as he began to walk to the Gryffindor table, Victoire began to clap. Soon the table was applauding their new addition as usual, but it was somewhat subdued.

Both Albus and Rose were put into Gryffindor as soon as the hat touched their heads, no one was surprised, and they each got roaring applause. This made Albus very uncomfortable. Of course he had wanted to be in Gryffindor, but the hat hadn't even taken the time to really make a decision. The fact that he was in Gryffindor was because of his father, and so was the gratuitous applause. He wanted to be in Gryffindor, and liked by his fellow Gryffindors because of who HE was, not because of who his FATHER was. He decided to ignore this discomfort and just be happy that he had managed to be in the house of his choice, with his family, and his one new friend. He took a seat between Scorpius and Rose.

"My father will disown me," Scorpius said, looking like he was about to be sick.

"You'll be alright!" said Albus. "You're here with us...it'll all be fine! You can worry about them later...."

"Well...I'm starting to realize that my parents are pretty thick about a lot of stuff, but I still have to go home to them...I don't even want to think about what they'll say," moaned Scorpius.

"I promise," said Albus, "it'll be okay!"

"Maybe...." said Scorpius.

He didn't look very confident

Victoire couldn't sleep at all the first night back to Hogwarts. Last year without Teddy had been the hardest of her years at Hogwarts by far. She didn't feel like she could do it again. Everyone told her that she was too young to be this fixated on one boy, but she couldn't help it. Her being the daughter of Fleur Delacour (who had veela blood) and Bill Weasley (who had been the most handsome in the Weasley family) had left her not wanting in the looks department. Therefore ever since her very first year she had boys fawning after her, and had plenty of boyfriends. Teddy was different though. She had known him her entire life. It wasn't until her fourth year that she realized what she truly felt for him, and they became an "item." She finally saw how silly she had been with all the other boys who had simply been entranced by her looks. What she had with Teddy was real, and she couldn't picture herself with anyone else...ever. Last year was torture. How could she do this again?

Just then there was a tap on the window. She threw it open to find an owl with a letter addressed to her...in Teddy's handwriting.

It was short and to the point.

Meet me at the entrance to the grounds

Love,

Teddy

He was here!

Now she just had to find a way to get through the castle and then the grounds without being caught.

Then she remembered James' cloak.

She raced up the stairs into his dormitory, and shook him awake.

"Wha...huh....Victo...huh?" he said groggily.

"I need your invisibility cloak!" she whispered.

"I...er...don't know what you're talking about!" he lied.

"James...I know you have one...I'm not stupid! Me being a prefect and now head girl I should have confiscated it...but I didn't. You owe me!"

"Okay...okay hold on...." he said as he began to rummage through his trunk. "Do I even want to know what you need it for?"

"No. You don't. Just give it to me...PLEASE."

He finally located the cloak, and she ran out of the door, putting it on as she went. The trip down to the edge of the grounds was easy enough under the cover of the cloak, and soon she could see the gate with the winged boars, and a dark figure standing beneath them. She was filled with sudden warmth, and comfort, and giddiness, and nervousness, and far too many emotions to list. She finally reached him and he swept her into a passionate embrace. She wondered vaguely what would happen if the head girl was found in such a "compromising" position...then she realized she didn't care...at all.

I know this doesn't seem very 'R' rated, but I promise it shall get juicier =)
