Author's Note:
Okay, it might take a while for the next bit, because my computer decided to crash and we had to restart the whole thing. Luckily, my lovely beta sent it back to me, and I didn't have to re-write it. For those of you who read my only other fic, I now have to redo the next chapters. Sorry!

Luna's True Friend

Who was she? Where'd she come from? What's with her clothes? Is she really American? Why's she at Hogwarts? How did she beat up Crabbe and Goyle? Who ever she was, she was even more loony than Loony. Every one was talking about this new Ravenclaw. Parvati and Lavender said her name was Bethany. She read books with titles like 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'. They were all about Harry. Well, she did read other books on occasion. She read more than Hermione. Seriously!! She even read when she talked, ate, and walked. Even more amazing was the fact that she did all this and didn't even walk into walls. What was weirder was that her favorite candies were blood lollies, acid pops, cockroach cluster, and pepper imps. She never went any where without a huge sack of them. She had even ordered skiving snack boxes just to eat the trick sweets. They didn't even make her sick. Fred wanted to study her. Luckily, before he caught her, Loon...er, Luna saved her. That led to the worst ...uh, best friendship Hogwarts ever had.

"Frederick Weasley, leave that poor girl alone. What did she do to you? Did you have to come back to Hogwarts to catch a person? The streets are full of them. Let her go!"

"Yes, Loony. I'll give her a ten minute head start."

"Luna, I believe you're talking to Forge. Speaking of that, why does you're mother put the letters on the sweaters? You and Gred know exactly who you are." Bethany was smirking at Fred as if to make him ask how she knew that.

"Uhhhhhhhhh... I have to be somewhere. Bye!" Fred ran off down the hallway as if someone had put fire in his pants.

"Luna Lovegood. I wanted to meet you. You seem very cool. Of course, that may be because you're my favorite character, but I'm not sure."

If Luna found this strange, she didn't show it. As a matter of fact, she just smiled and shook the girl's hand.

"Pleased to meet you. Your views on the Blibbering Humdinger?"

"Obviously exists. Stupid Granger. Thinks she knows everything. Why is it she can see when everything else is not going the way it's supposed to, but she can't see that she and Ron belong together?"

"I suppose we shall never know."

"I suppose I will have to knock some sense into both of them. Care to join?"

"I'd be delighted."

They ran to the library, ignoring the glares teachers sent them. They found Hermione at the back of the library... kissing Ron.

"One thing less to do today." Luna said grumpily.

"Too true. Maybe we should go lock Malfoy and Ginevra in a broom closet together?"

"Splendid idea. I think they would be in the Great hall; it's lunch time."

"We had better hurry, we have History of Magic after lunch and I don't want to be late."

"Why not? We have it with Slytherin today."

"I refuse to be late for my favorite class because we have to share it with the most unnerving people on the planet."

That said the girls ran off to find their next, or rather, first, victims. In the Great Hall they found that Ginny and Draco had left earlier. Together.

"Darn it."

On the way to History of Magic later that day, they ran into none other than their supposed first victims. Kissing.

"Darn it times two. I suppose we will have to find more people."

Little did Luna know Bethany already had her first victims planned. But she wasn't about to tell her new friend. Not in a million years.

Don't worry, the wonderful Golden Trio leader will begin to show in the next chapter. After that, you may get so sick of him you want to hit him atop the head with a two by four. By all means, go ahead and do it, ifd you don't mind a broken computer.
