THE FEELINGS OF RONALD WEASLEY

Every night her face would be in his mind. To Ron, Beth Frantz was perfect. Ever since she arrived at the beginning of sixth year, Beth clouded his thoughts. They instantly became best friends. Beth was well known after awhile, due to the fact that she had a friend named Laura Dorsky in Slytherin. Ron was desperately in love. Every day he wondered if she'd ever feel the same way that he did. Everyday he wanted to melt like butter when she smiled. Everyday he wanted to rip his hair out because his feelings were driving him mad.

I know I should tell you how I feel,

I wish everyone would disappear

and I'm too shy to say....

Whenever they walked together, Ron tried to summon up the courage to say how he felt. But the only thing he ever said was some sort of joke or start up a conversation about Quidditch. Ron felt the disappointment in himself every time he failed to tell her. Often they would go out to the lake and watch the giant squid glide across the surface. Beth had often given signs that she liked him, but Ron wasn't sure what the signs were.

Ooh, I've got a crush on you...

Ron still remembered the nights when he and Harry talked in the common room about ways to tell Beth. But there were a few times when their conversations were interrupted by Beth walking into the room in tears. Ron was always the first one at her side and every time after that he would stay up with her and listen to her problem. As he listened he felt his heart ache so much that Ron thought he'd die of a heart attack.

And sometimes you tell me things that I don't want to know

I just want to hold you

Ron really wanted to ask Harry's advice but it was no good. Harry hadn't gone through this kind of situation before, sure he could give ideas on how to tell her but not how to control his feelings. There was always Laura, but she was always with Draco and Ron hated him. He could ask Hermione but Ron didn't feel like reading suggestions in books she'd suggest.

Ooh, I wish I could tell somebody

But there's no one to talk to, nobody knows

Ron loved how she said everything openly and lived each day with a passion he barely knew. He felt her fears, her thoughts and every time she spoke it felt like honey going down Ron's throat. He would willingly take every feeling she didn't want and make them disappear with a wave of his wand.

Ron finally decided to write her a letter telling her exactly how he felt. No matter what would happen between them, he wanted her to know. He wrote all of his feelings down, telling Beth that she meant more to him than his existence itself. Ron attached the seven page letter to an owl and sent it out his window feeling as though a two ton anvil was lifted off his chest.

The next morning at breakfast, his sausages felt like boulders in his stomach. Eventually the great hall was filled with everyone except Beth. Ron felt his heart sink, his cloud of depression didn't let him see the owl flying his way. Harry detached the letter and handed it to Ron. Ron seized it and ran out into the main hall to read it alone. "I Love You." was all it read. His heart lightened and he felt a tear in his eye. Ron looked up to see Beth standing there watching him.

"You Do?" he asked.

"Yes, I Love you Ronald Weasley," Beth smiled.

Ron lifted her off the ground and spun around laughing. This was one of the happiest days of his life. When he set Beth down, his kissed her lips slowly. After they parted, Ron laughed slightly.

"What?" Beth asked.

"Nothing, I just wanted to do that for the longest time," Ron smiled.
