Love Bound in Green Velvet:
Laura Dorsky's 7th year journal.
It was June sixteenth of the year 2013, as Draco sat on the porch with his in-laws. He began to miss his wife now more than ever. He laughed quietly with Laura's family as her oldest brother Steven made jokes. Draco was holding his wedding band between his index finger and his thumb, fondling it with the pain inside his heart. Later on that day he helped Laura's mother Julie with the dishes; she pulled him out of earshot from the rest of the family. Julie knew he was hurting, knowing what losing your beloved spouse felt like. Laura's mother embraced Draco into a hug, feeling him shake with sadness. It pained her to hear small sobs escape his throat.
"Draco, it'll be alright," she whispered trying to comfort him. It was six months to the day that he'd lost Laura, his wife of ten years, to his father Lucius Malfoy. Even now he could still remember everything about her. The smell of her hair, the taste of her lips, the way she kissed him softly, the way she looked wearing his shirts around the house and Draco would never forget the shiny blue eyes and bright smile that always greeted him when he came home.
"Draco, I found this in her room. I thought you'd like to have it," Julie handed him a book covered in green velvet. He instantly recognized it as Laura's journal from their seventh year. She never went anywhere without it at school and wouldn't let anyone read it, not even her boyfriend. Draco gently took it into his hands, feeling the soft material underneath his fingers. He was afraid to open it right away; he just let a tear fall from his eye and watched it hit the top of the journal.
After having tea, Draco bid his family farewell and got into his car and headed for home. Streets passed in blurs, the fog clouded around him and the sad glow of the streetlamps made him squint. Eventually he reached home, the three floor Victorian house that sat on top of the hill overlooking the lake. He unlocked the door and entered greeted by the smell of leather and oak. Draco slowly climbed the stairs to his and Laura's bedroom followed by a cloud of depression that made each step feel heavier. He reached into the room and flipped on the lights, seeing the room where many memories were held that he sorely missed. He slipped off his shirt and exchanged his dockers for a pair of green silk pajama bottoms. His eyes wandered to Laura's journal, staring at it in great sorrow. He couldn't stand it any longer; Draco grabbed the book off his bedside table and opened it to the first page.

On the train to Hogwarts. 12pm.
Well, it is another year and also it just happens to be my final year. I fear the end because I may never see anyone again, not even Draco. Even though he has been my best friend and my boyfriend since our sixth year, I still think I will end up losing him somehow. He's sleeping on the chair in front of me, looking quite peaceful. Draco seems to be more relaxed now that he is out of his house and away from Lucius. I am also scared of the war; it has been going on for quite awhile now. Eventually, Voldemort will lose power and disappear, then come back when he is stronger. But I must not worry too much, I have school and Draco and my family to think about.
Draco was intrigued at her words and turned the page to see a sketch of him asleep. He ran his finger over her initials at the bottom of the page. He turned to the next page and saw that she taped a moving photo of them kissing. Another tear ran down his cheek, he still remembered the day that the picture was taken. But he read on anyways, not afraid of what he'd read next.

Christmas. 9pm.
I stayed behind at Hogwarts to spend my Christmas with Draco. I received my presents this morning from my family and friends at the end of my prefect bed this morning. My mother sent me new skirts and shoes, Steven sent me a book on how to create my own charms, and my father sent me a new pair of diamond earrings. Of all the gifts I received, what Draco gave me was the best and how he gave it to me was wonderful.
I woke up this morning and Draco was sitting on my bed holding something in his hand.
"Good morning my love," he whispered and kissed my forehead. I sat up in bed letting my eyes adjust to the sun shining in my room. Draco held out his hand and handed me a jewelry box.
"Open it," Draco said to me. I carefully lifted the lid and inside I saw the most gorgeous necklace. On the sparkling silver chain was a diamond shaped into a rose. I sat up and kissed Draco thanking him for such a beautiful gift. He proceeded to put the chain around my neck and said, "I will always be here for you Laura, I Love you so much."
I told him that I loved him also between the tears of joy that ran down my face. We spent the rest of the day in the common room talking and cuddling. I love him so much.
Draco was smiling, he remembered that day perfectly. It was one of the happiest days of his life. He wiped the tears away and read on.

New years day. 10 pm.
I found a letter and a red teddy bear after I came back from my shower. It was from Draco. The letter was so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. This is the letter:
My Dearest,
I wanted you to know that I Love You. That I would kill for you. You are the only girl who makes my heart beat fast and slow at the same time. The stars in your eyes light up my world, you fill the emptiness in my heart and everything I do is for you. I am here for you and will always be here for you no matter what. If you need a shoulder to cry on, someone to hug, or a listening ear, I'll be here waiting with open arms. I thought I could never love, but you've proved me wrong.
Love Always,
Draco Malfoy
He is way to sweet, but I love him anyways.
The letter had been taped to the page; Draco remembered how many times he had to start over to get it perfect. The red teddy bear that went with it was sitting on the bookshelf in the study downstairs. He took a deep breath and turned the page.

Slytherin common room. 8 pm.
Today was horrible! Pansy really pissed me off. Why? I think it was because she's jealous of Draco and I. It all started in potions, I was sitting next to my partner (Draco, of course) who kissed my cheek gently. I giggled and smiled at him, when a frog liver hit the back of my head (we were making a healing potion for a sore throat). I turned around and another one "accidentally" hit me in the face. I asked Pansy what her problem was, she called me a slut and that I didn't deserve to live. When she insulted my family that really set me off, I punched her in the eye. She attacked me back and soon we were on the floor fighting. Snape had taken Neville to Professor McGonagall for destroying his tenth cauldron and three tables. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Draco pulled us apart. I held her earring in my hand; I didn't notice that I had ripped it out. By the time Snape got back we had used magic to cover our cuts and bruises. In the end I had won, leaving that fight with only a ripped school robe and a cut lip. Pansy walked away with a black eye, bloody nose, ripped ear, and torn robes. Draco spent the break cleaning the cut on my lip after I had sewn my robe back together. He ordered Crabbe and Goyle to keep Pansy away from me. I hugged him and just went to do my Transfiguration homework.
Draco laughed at the remembrance of what Pansy looked like. He also remembered what Crabbe and Goyle looked like when they escorted Laura almost everywhere. Draco wasn't feeling tired so he to the book down to the study and sat down to read more.

Outside at the lake. 12 pm.
I heard from my mother the other day that my father received a place on the board of school governors. The only bad thing about that was that he had been given Lucius Malfoy's seat. Lucius had been working on getting his seat back for a while now and it seems that he won't succeed. Then my mother wrote and told me that my Muggle cousin Erin was getting married and wanted me to be her maid of honor. I was taken back by this request; I never thought she'd want me to do that! I cried I was so excited, I told Draco the news. He smiled, kissed me and told me that I'd take attention away from the bride.
Yesterday and today were awesome though; I woke up and found a dozen orange roses and a dozen yellow roses on my desk. Of course they were from Draco he told me that my room would have a rainbow by the 14th. I had no idea what he meant and I don't think I'll understand until the 14th.

Valentines day, midnight
Today and this past week have been the most romantic I have ever experienced. The roses kept coming all week! By today I had Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and purple. Now I know what Draco meant, he sent me a rainbow! He took me on a walk tonight out by the lake, kissed me under the stars and when we got back to the common room it was empty so he asked me to dance and sang to me. It was so wonderful. He then walked me to my room, kissed my cheek then my lips, said he loved me and went to his prefect room.

His father has called Draco home, he left an hour ago and already I miss him. I do hope everything is all right. At least he was able to attend Quidditch practice earlier. I'm ecstatic that I made the team. I'm the keeper, only when we played Gryffindor I have to try. When we play Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw it's too easy to beat them. I wonder what Draco is doing now?

Draco's room 6 pm.
Draco arrived back today with cuts all over his chest. He traveled by Floo powder and collapsed into my arms. I saw a few bloodstains on his shirt, his eyes were closed and I wasn't strong enough to get him to Madam Pomfrey. I dragged him to his room and laid him on his bed. I unbuttoned his shirt to see how bad the injuries were. The scars looked like they were from spells. If Lucius did this to his own son, I will kill him. I walked to the fireplace, threw some powder in and yelled " Professor Dumbledore, come to Draco's room, he's hurt!"
Immediately Dumbledore came walking out of the fire and to my side. He looked over Draco's scars and conjured a bowl of medicine and a towel to cleanse his cuts. He said it was nothing serious and told me to tend to his wounds. It's been three hours since he got back, I want him to wake. I don't want to lose him.

Draco's room 9pm
He's sleeping now; Draco woke for a few minutes earlier and ran his hand down my face. I smiled when he woke up because I was so happy. Draco will be all right, he's strong. I've been holding his hand for a while now and I cleaned off his cuts a few more times then kissed each one gently.
Draco had no idea she was there the whole time. He smiled and read the next page.

Great hall 8am
April fools! My morning is starting out great! I slipped a potion I made into Pansy's pumpkin juice and she sprouted rat ears, rat teeth, a tail and whiskers! Everyone was laughing when she ran out the hall and to the hospital wing. Everyone heard her shriek as she jumped up from her seat. It was so great!
Draco laughed at this memory; he was down the table next to Laura when it happened.

I'm worried. Draco is sitting alone staring at the fire; he hasn't spoken a word since he received an owl this morning. Every time he looks at me, it seems as if there's a fear and sadness in his eyes. I'm beginning to get that feeling where something bad will happen. When I went over to ask him what was wrong he just shook his head. I placed my hand on his shoulder to show him I cared and he reached up and held it for a while not taking his eyes away from the fire. He kissed it and finally looked up at me. I wish I knew what was in that letter.

Home. Funeral. 3pm
My father has been gone for two days and I have yet to cry. The cause of his death led me to believe that a Death Eater had something to do with it. The doctor couldn't explain it but my mother and I knew what it was, the killing curse. When I find out who killed him, they will die a slow painful death. I miss my father and Draco. I'm not returning to school for three more days. My Muggle cousin Erin has been begging me to teach her how to fly on my Firebolt. I'm considering it, but since I'm very protective of my broom, I'll teach her with my Nimbus 2001. The cool thing about where I live is that it's out in the English countryside. Most of my Muggle family is here along with some of the close Wizarding family. My Wizard cousin Jaci (who attends Durmstrang) brought over her half sister yesterday and they are staying over until I go back to school. She is way too much like me; all we did was gossip and practice/make-up spells. I miss my father; I swore to him that I would get revenge.

Still Home. 4pm.
Draco Apparated in today to pay his respects. I didn't know he was there because I was talking with Jaci about our escapade with some really bad chicken wire when we were kids (we had tried to build a house for her dog and ended up with a lot of cuts). We were also talking about our boyfriends and how sweet they were when a pair of hands covered my eyes and a male voice whispered into my ear: "You are so beautiful that if looks could kill, I would've been dead the moment I first laid eyes on you."
I turned around to face Draco! I immediately leapt into his arms and kissed him. After I finally let go of him, I asked Jaci why she didn't tell me he was there.
"He told me not to," she smiled. I just turned around and allowed Draco to wrap me into his arms once more. Dumbledore was allowing him until 3pm to visit, and then he'd go back to school. Draco spent all his time with Jaci and me. Around 2pm Dumbledore and Professor Snape came to visit my family. For an hour everyone sat and had tea. Then finally at 3 pm, Draco held me close and kissed me.
"I love you, see you in a few days," he smiled and Disapparated with Dumbledore and Snape.
Draco wiped his eyes and smiled. He would never forget the way her face lit up when she saw him.

I am alone, in the hidden passage that only I know (by mistake of course, who would've known that if you leaned on the odd colored brick between the back two bookshelves the wall would move?). I need to be alone right now to let off some steam. I hate Pansy Parkinson with a passion. I hate Professor Trelawney too. I went to Divination and sat with Harry and Ron like always (I'm the nice Slytherin, and me and Ron go way back to childhood. I don't mind Harry at all and I've finally gotten him and Draco to at least be civil to one another.). We were just cracking jokes about Trelawney's bug-eyed glasses and learning how to read tarot cards. I had mine set out correctly when the bug woman (Professor Trelawney) came over and read mine out loud. She said that I was fighting with another girl over a boy, that I experienced someone dying, and that I would die by a dark wizards hand. Which is all crap, well except for the death part of it. I won that fight with Pansy and there were very few dark wizards left. But the reason I hate her is because she was on Pansy's side for what happened. Pansy was walking past our table to get a deck of tarot cards and when she came back she "tripped" and knocked our table over, sending Harry, Ron and I to the floor. The table landed on my ankle, I landed on Ron and Harry landed on my other leg. Trelawney yelled at us for causing such a commotion in her classroom, took ten points from Gryffindor and Slytherin and sent me to the hospital wing. Harry and Ron left to help me get there because I couldn't walk. When I got to the nurse, my ankle was healed instantly and I was sent off. We didn't go back to class though, we were joking around with Sir Cadogan (the knight in the painting). One more time, I swear I won't hesitate to beat the shit out of her. I better get back into the library, my bodyguards might be looking for me.
Draco never knew about that spot where she'd hide to get away. Whenever she was upset and ran off, he'd try to find her but would give up and wander the halls waiting for her to appear.

Back in my passageway 9pm
I am so upset. Not with Pansy this time, with Draco. I know the Quidditch Cup meant a lot to him, it meant a lot to me too. But just because Gryffindor scored five goals with their new plays, doesn't mean he can snap on me! I stopped the next ten goals easily. It was more or less Draco's fault, we were one goal down and Draco and Harry were speeding along the top of the grass to grab the snitch. Draco reached out to grab it, because he was ahead of Harry, and flipped his broom forward and flew off. After the game I went to see if Draco was all right and he yelled at me in front of the entire team! I let a few tears roll out of my eyes, slapped him and ran. Now here I am, still in my uniform, refusing to let Draco find me. I conjured a small fire to keep me warm since the stone is so cold.
Draco felt the right side of his face where Laura had hit him years before. That slap brought him back down out of his little world and into reality. He remembered how he immediately went after her. Draco had to admit that she was faster than him.

Potions class 12:30p
Draco came into my room at one in the morning and woke me up to apologize. I rubbed my eyes to see more clearly and saw him leaning over me with a sad look on his face.
"Look, I was way out of line when I yelled at you. It was more my fault than yours during the match," he said.
I smiled; I figured he'd cave anyhow. I accepted his apology; he hugged me tightly and kissed my forehead. God I love him. Eventually I kicked him out (politely though) and fell back asleep. Five minutes ago he made a rose appear for me when Snape wasn't looking. I cut most of the stem off and placed it in my hair. I know I should be paying attention in class but I'm a Slytherin and one of Snape's favorite students so I can get away with a lot.

I always seem to play peacemaker between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Mainly between Ron and Draco then Pansy and Hermione. I broke up a fight between Draco and Ron at lunch. Harry and I were walking to lunch after Divination (Ron had skipped) and we could hear Draco and Ron arguing soundly. Draco raised his fist and got ready to throw a punch. I grabbed Draco's arm and told him to stop it.
"Ron is my friend and you will not hurt him Draco Malfoy," I said heatedly. "Ron you will not hurt Draco either."
Ron nodded and walked into the great hall. Draco calmed down and thanked me for preventing him from losing our house some major points. Why do they fight all the time? I don't get it. Boys will be boys I guess.

My room 4am
Can't sleep. The school year is ending very soon and I fear even more about Draco and I breaking up. I don't think I could handle that. I wrote owls to Hermione and Harry asking what they think I should do. Of course Harry was unsure because he never had a relationship with a girl before. Hermione said to just wait and see what fate had in store for me. A great help that was, wait and see is what I'll have to do I guess...
We graduate in a week and I already have a career lined up. I'm going to work with my mother's friend as a wedding planner. But the name of the job depresses me. I wish I knew what was going to happen to Draco and I. I'm 18 going on 19 and he's 19 going on 20. We are old enough to marry, but that's probably the least of his worries. I doubt that's what he wants.

Common Room 7pm
Today has been a day from heaven! Draco went to the Great Hall without me this morning for breakfast. When I got there he was gone and there was a note left on my seat. I taped it to this page:
Laura,
I used to not be sure of anything until I met you. Being a Malfoy means nothing special anymore and now I know how to love. I'm also sure of what I'm about to do. You fill the empty space in my heart and brought me out of the darkness. I Love you so much and never want to let you go. I ask you this now: Laura Ann Marie Dorsky, Will you be my Wife?'
I turned around and became face to face with Draco. He bent down on one knee held out an opened jewelry box containing a four-karat diamond ring and asked if I would marry him. I cried a yes and hugged him tightly with joy. He reached for my left hand and placed the engagement ring on my ring finger. Dumbledore stood and clapped, everyone else followed his action except Pansy Parkinson. It was the greatest day of my life. I wasn't expecting it at all. Soon I will become Mrs. Laura Malfoy!
Draco closed the book with teary eyes. His heart began to ache even more. The day she died suddenly became clear to him again. If only he told her back in school it was his father who killed hers, she wouldn't have yelled at him and Disapparated to the Malfoy mansion. Draco gave her a few moments to see if she'd come back but she didn't. He Disapparated to the mansion as well and frantically looked all over for her. He heard yelling and screaming in the dungeon and tore down the steps in a flash. Draco found Laura and Lucius dueling to the death. Lucius raised his wand and yelled, "AVADA KEDAVRA!"
Draco ran in and yelled the same curse at his father and caught his wife as she crumpled into his arms. Draco fell to the ground, rocking back and forth.
"Laura? Come back, please come back I need you," He cried mournfully. He kissed her lips, and then held her lifeless body against his chest. Tears stained his cheeks as his mother came down and saw what had happened and ran back upstairs to notify the Ministry of Magic. They arrived eventually and had to pry Laura from Draco's arms. He watched them wrap her up and place her and Lucius into a van. Draco watched as the automobile speed off carrying his only love of ten years.
The funeral was a fuzzy memory, he remembered sitting next to Laura's mother and lowering her into the ground, with each inch lowered a tear fell from his eyes. The memories he hung onto would never happen again. No staying up late and watching stars, no more pillow fights and cuddling and no more attempts to make a family.
Draco set the journal on the desk, letting his hand sit on top of it.
"I miss you so Laura, if you miss me too, give me some sort of sign," Draco whispered. As if on cue, the red teddy bear he gave her fell off the shelf fell to the floor. Draco jumped back and looked by his feet. He bent down and picked it up gently uncovering a piece of paper. He unfolded it to read:
Laura Malfoy:
Pregnancy test,
Positive.
Dr. Pickleman, M.D.
"Oh god, she was pregnant," Draco dropped his jaw. Lucius had killed his pregnant wife; his father was so lucky that he was already dead. Draco clutched the paper in his hand and lost all train of thought. He walked up to the third story, stepped out onto the terrace, closed his eyes and fell.
Draco woke up screaming and covered in sweat.
"Draco, love, are you alright?" came a voice to his right. Draco looked wide-eyed at the woman next to him on the bed.
"Laura? Is it really you?" he reached out and touched her cheek.
"Of course it's me Draco," she smiled. "Bad dream?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," he smiled and reached out and pulled his wife to his lips. Draco suddenly remembered the last part of his dream.
"Laura?" he asked.
"Yes sweetie?"
"Are you pregnant?"
THE END
