The Eyes

"My world is dark and cold. How could beauty or love ever be a part of something so foul? Yet, love and happiness, real happiness are the two things I want most in life. I've never had either one. I've never had anyone. I, Draco Malfoy, am almost a completely lost cause. Yes, I torment the students in the other houses at Hogwarts, call them names, and express my superiority but in a way I don't want to.

"I grew up in a harsh environment without any love. Because my parents were constantly bickering I was left in the care of the house elves. Soon enough the house elves were afraid of me because of my many tantrums and rants. Its not that I was deprived of everything I'd ever wanted, it was just that something had always been missing, something vital to human existence didn't subsist in my life.

"When I started my education at Hogwarts I was scared; so scare and so insecure that I lashed out at kind people. The people I should have been making friends with. The people my father would have hated me making friends with and I didn't fancy upsetting my father. I knew my father wouldn't stand for mistakes not even in the most mundane tasks. I had learned this about my father at a young age.

"I eventually made friends. Not people that you would call ideal but people who were more scared then I and who were looking for a leader. I was their leader. I was the leader of the Slytherins in my year.

"I was the leader but I still felt empty. I envied that famous Harry Potter brat. I envied him because even though he had not proper family he still had love. His friends were willing to die for him and he was the favorite of the headmaster. I always thought that old Dumbledore was a fool but I still wouldn't mind being his favorite student though. I don't even like to think about my family and friends because if I show one sign of weakness they'll throw me out to the lions. The one and only person I have ever felt somewhat close to is my mother but she's not much help anymore... not after what my father did to her. He instilled in her a fear so deep running that she barely speaks and her face is an impassive mask and she is at most times to afraid to smile. My mother is..."

Darco's voice faded with those last words and he gasped, jerking his bent head upright. What he saw as he lifted his eyes was something that frightened him as he'd never been frightened before. He stared into the chica's black eyes which capture and held his vision and was beside himself with terror. This trepidation clogged his senses and he was scarcely aware of himself as he jumped to his feet and hurried out of the dilapidated building.

It was raining out side but Draco either didn't notice or he didn't care. All of his thoughts we back in the rickety old building with the girl that had compassion in her eyes. Why this scared him he didn't know but as he walked on and on he came closer to realizing that that girl with those eyes wasn't any ordinary filthy muggle. She was something different, something more. For once in his life, Draco was sure of this fact in the only place that counted at the moment... his heart.
