- Author's Note:
- The reason i started this fanfiction is because me and my friend, Nay, whom is a character in here, were role playing it. I thought i'd take it up a notch and make it into a novel length fan fiction. So i guess this makes it an AU, because it does have different and new characters in here. but anyway, enjoy it!
Chapter One:
The New Gryffindor
The train welcomed Harry as he laid his bright green eyes upon them. He could truthfully say that he never felt so welcomed in his life. A very tall, red headed boy came up to his side, pushing a cart of luggage next to Harry.
"Oye, I think we better get on before they train leaves us here," Ron said, running his fingers through his shaggy, red hair. Harry could still not take his gleaming green eyes off the extraordinary view of the train in his sight. He felt so happy he could literally leap in joy in front of all the Hogwarts students' entering onto the train.
"Yeah, maybe we should then," he said finally, snapping out of his trance. Hermione had yet to show her face, which was a big surprise for the two. She was always very noticeable with her bushy hair floating around her head; she was the one who always carried more books than needed. "Ron, where do you think Hermione could be? I haven't seen her yet," Harry asked, stepping onto the train as the whistle started to blow. Ron didn't show much caring about where Hermione could be; he only shrugged his shoulders and sighed.
"She's probably at Hogwarts now. You never know where that bat could be now," he responded back, in much excitement.
A new girl was already aboard the train, sitting alone in a cabin to her self. She stared out the window alone, her black, curly hair snuggling her face, as if she was trying to hide her brown eyes in the darkness. She dressed in nothing but black, even her hair was as dark as the night sky and if not that, darker. She wore a cross necklace, cross ear rings, combat boots, black cargo pants, and a long short sleeved red shirt. The girl sat there alone in her mysterious world that you could see deep into her eyes, like the vast ocean being mysterious in its own frightening and dangerous ways. Just like the ocean...you always receive the unexpected and never know when an abrupt force could come onto you like a crashing title wave. The girl then turned her head; to see people passing by her open cabin door, looking at her strangely, as if she was some beast in display. Harry then started to walk by too, noticing that people where looking in a cabin and of course, his curiosity got the best of him.
As he walked by, he looked at the lonely and depressed girl sitting in a cabin all alone to her self, with no friends to talk to like every other student in Hogwarts. To him she didn't seem so strange; to him she seemed to look just like a poor and lonely girl. He didn't care if she dressed in all black, he knew better than to judge someone when he did not know a thing about him or her. He knew this from experience of his own past and present life. The girl then saw the scar on his face, and Harry knew that she saw it, but she didn't budge at all. She only calmly turned away to look out the window again, looking as alone as ever. As Ron and Harry passed by, they went into the cabin just next to hers.
"Did you see how she looked?" Harry asked profoundly, "she didn't even budge when she looked at my scar. That's the first that has ever happened to me, Ron." Ron was now sitting down, letting out a loud yawn as he stretched his arms out, almost hitting Harry. After wards, Ron only nodded, his eyes starting to close slightly.
"Yeah, yeah. Besides that, she looks...a little morbid and lonely, aye? I think I actually felt sorry for her. Must be tough on her that she's a new girl and I think the crowd around here thinks of her as a little...abnormal. It's just new to this school here," he said, trying his best to phrase his comment. Suddenly, Hermione jumped into the cabin, a large smile across her face implying of how happy she was to see them. She threw her self on top of them, giving them both a great, big hug as if she hadn't seen them in years. Ron started to push her off and then shake vigorously in a disgusted state. "Oye! I think I need something to disinfect me!" he yelled, still dusting him self off. "Have you gone bloody mad? What do you think you're doing just throwing your self on top of us like that? You know if you did that to some stranger, they'd chop off your ear!" he then said, finishing his insults. Hermione only kept on smiling, ignoring his silly comments to her.
"Oh calm down, Ron. I'm just glad that I finally got here on time. Mum and dad had a muggle meeting up town, so we were kind of late," she said, sitting down. "Though, the meeting was rather intriguing. I think I might want to go into politics after Hogwarts," she darted out, sitting down excitedly.
"How interesting," Harry said bluntly, not showing a care. Hermione just shook her head, still smiling, not caring what insults Harry and Ron through at her at the moment.
"Though I will ignore your enthusiasm Harry, I still thank you for trying to make it seem as if you care," she said. "And to think that I was going to miss the train!" she said as it started to move forward, "it seems I was just on time." Ron rolled his eyes and just tried to ignore her talking on and on about how wonderful politic were in the world now days. Then suddenly, the trolley came by, interrupting Hermione's discussion over the world and how it has gone to waste. Harry and Ron leaped up to the trolley and of course, bought everything they could at once, to ignore Hermione as much as possible. At that moment, more company started to emerge into their cabin. It was like they were having their own personal party in a cabin. Ginny, Fred and George, whom brought an old time friend, Deneé, seating with them, again interrupting Hermione's conversation.
"So, who are these people?" Deneé said to Fred, George and Ginny. "I know that's Harry of course, who doesn't? But who's this bushy haired girl and this giant?" she said instantly, smiling at them. Fred and George got up and pulled Hermione and Ron up immediately in front of Deneé to make them seem presentable.
"Stand up Ron, don't embarrass us in front of her," George said, trying to put Ron's shaggy hair flat. Ron only pushed George away and then ran his finger through his hair, staring at Deneé afterwards.
"I'm Ron Weasley, the brother of these two buffoons," he said in a boring tone of voice and then sat him self down, giving Fred and George a glare that death him self couldn't take.
"And Hermione Granger, it's wonderful to meet you Deneé. I hope your stay here in Hogwarts will be fine," Hermione said politely, not forgetting her manners.
The girl next door heard all of the commotion and couldn't take all the talking much longer. She liked it when it was alone, peaceful and dark. Not when it was crowded, loud, and happy, not when she didn't know the people. She then stood up, taking the last straw as she heard laughter, and walked to the other cabin, opening the door slowly.
"Excuse me, if it isn't too much to ask. Could you please lower your voices down a tad? Some people hear are actually trying to enjoy what peace they can get before they enter that bloody, cheerful school," she said quickly, trying to get to the point out as quickly as possible, sparing some breath. Harry couldn't help but notice the angelic voice she had, even if she did look different from others, she was also even more beautiful than any girl in Hogwarts he knew, even Cho Chang for that matter. She was a beautiful, mysterious, dark angel, or she seemed like it. He wanted to talk to her, his heart was racing, and he was afraid of this too.
"I'm sorry...sometimes we get carried away. My names Harry Potter," he said, extending his arm out to her. She looked at his hand and then into his bright, green eyes in a plain expression. After a few seconds of staring at each other, she then shook his hand slowly and softly. He noticed the soft texture of her skin as they touched hands that it almost sent a shiver up his spine.
"Thank you. I'm Jade Lenore. I didn't mean to barge in like this or interrupt what ever was going on here. But I just wanted to have some time alone before my freedom is stripped away from me when I enter that school," she said in a soft, but fast pace. Harry then smiled, ignoring everyone's stares in the room towards him. He knew it was obvious to the others, but as long as it wasn't obvious to her, he was okay.
"...Would you like to join us? We have room for another. At least we can make room for you," he paused, "you know, make friends so you will at least know who to go to when you need some advice or help." The girl stared at him and tilted her head a little, her curly, black hair still in the way of her face a bit.
With out warning, she then nodded her head and made a smirk, "I will if you actually want me too. Hold on...let me get my things." With that she trailed off in to her own cabin, not believing that she made a new batch of friends. Even if she was dark and alone, that didn't mean she enjoyed every bit of it. She liked to have company, only if it was the right kind and she seemed to find the right crowd.
"What was that about, Harry?" Ron said, looking at him in shock. "Are you sure you want to invite her in here? She might use her dark magic on us, you never know," he said, a little frightened.
"Oh Ron, calm your self. She's just a normal girl looking for a few friends, and that happens to be us. Besides, Harry here likes her!" Fred said almost immediately, and almost a little too loud. Harry then felt his cheeks rush with warmth and he could hear him self chuckling a little bit, getting ready to defend him self.
"I don't like her, maybe as a friend. I just want to get to know her, make her feel welcomed. T-t-that's it," he said, his face full of warmth. Hermione nodded her head, trying not to laugh and then just rolled her eyes. She then laid a hand on his hand and smiled gracefully, trying to think of something to cheer him up.
"Awe don't worry. She's a nice girl. I think you two will get along just perfectly, and you never know. Maybe you two will actually get even closer and then you can have a girl friend!" she said, almost in a squeak, obviously enjoying every moment of this. Right after Hermione's comment, she came back in with a little tiny smirk upon her agonized face. She still looked like an angel for that matter, just one that has been tortured with emotional pain for so many long years.
"Welcome back, Jade. We were beginning to worry that you got lost!" Deneé said, almost cheerfully. Jade smiled at her and then sat down next to Harry, making him even feel a little more paranoid than before and you could see it in his eyes, they looked so nervous. He wondered how it could be that he got so nervous and paranoid around one girl when he could go up against Voldemort and not feel any of those emotions at all.
The time passed, and Jade seemed to fit in with everyone. She wasn't the scary, dark, and freakish girl everyone thought she would be. In fact, she was a normal teenage sixth year girl, just like everyone else. She just looked different, and maybe thought a little different, but either than that, she was normal. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were all ready waiting at the Gryffindor table, hoping and crossing their fingers that Jade would be with them. Of course, Jade was the first to be called up for the sorting, but she didn't seem frightened, like every other short and tiny first year.
Professor McGonagall placed the torn and dusty sorting hat upon her head lightly, backing away a bit.
"Ah yes. A brave and smart one, aye? Just by your appearance it looks like you would fit in with the Slytherins'. But you two are so much different...GRYFFINDOR!" the sorting hat finally bellowed out into the grand hall, and then everyone started to cheer and clap as Jade walked up to the table, next to Harry.
"Welcome to Gryffindor," he said. Jade smirked, but she didn't do or say anything more to the messy haired boy. Harry was tempted to carry on the conversation with her. "I hope you like it here," he said. She took a sip out of her Butter Beer, turning to him.
"Thanks...but I doubt I'll like this bloody school," she paused, "I don't adapt well to public and social places." Hermione looked up out of her book to her.
"Well, Hogwarts isn't that bad once you get past the homework. I'm sure even you will fit right in," Hermione stated and let out a smirk to her. Jade looked taken back with Hermione's statement and looked at her with a curious and puzzled gaze.
"What are you implying?" she paused, leaning closer to her. "Is that suppose to be some kind of insult you bushy haired bat?" Hermione then put her book down, her mouth slightly open and her eyebrows arched. Hermione's mouth kept flapping open, like a fish, she didn't know what to say.
"Oh no..."
"Are you implying that I'm some sort of freak? Well look at you!" she started to shout a little, her face getting even closer to Hermione's. Professor McGonagall's voice could be heard in the back ground, calling first years up to the sorting hat.
"Look, I didn't mean to offend you..."
"Well you did! So shut your hole before I shut it my self!" Jade responded in a rapid pace, wanting to throw her drink at Hermione's bushy haired head.
"Jade, calm down. There's no need for all of this. Hermione didn't mean to offend you," Harry said, trying to keep the peace between the two, one furious and the other scared.
"Sorry. I guess my anger management didn't pay off after all," she paused and looked up to everyone staring at her. "I recently lost my psychiatrist to a terrible accident," she said, Fred and George staring in interest. Fred and George's mother literally grabbed them by the ears and sent them back to Hogwarts to attend their final year. Of course, they both tried to sneak out of that situation, but Mrs. Weasley took hold of the situation and dragged them back to Hogwarts against their will. And now here they are, talking to Jade about her crackpot psychiatrist.
"Really, what happened?" Fred asked, running up to her.
"Well...she kind of blew up. She's in critical condition, staying in St. Mungo's I'm afraid," she stuttered, her eyes looking to the side and then back to Red, whose facial expression turned into a slightly frightened frown.
"Oh, that's horrible," George finally said, ending the silence and then beckoned to Fred in secret to come back and sit next to him to be safe.
"Yeah, she'll be doing better. I doubt she'll want to come back. Uncle Krum thinks I'm doing betters o I might not need one anyway," she retorted, and kept talking, regardless of all the strange looks shot at her. Then Hermione finally realized whom she was talking about and started to get curious her self.
"Wait. Krum? Viktor Krum?" she took a moment to think, "he's your uncle?" Harry and Ron looked at each other, both getting curious and interested as much as Hermione was.
"Viktor Krum is related to you?" Ron asked and then Jade nodded her head back to him. "Hah! It's a small world after all! Now look Hermione, you have Vikki's niece to torment to death now!" Ron smiled widely, keeping safe distance away from Hermione.
"Oh Ron, shut up," she sneered at him, throwing a biscuit at him. Suddenly, with out warning, everyone could hear Professor Dumbledore's voice filling the great hall.
"Welcome to another exciting year of Hogwarts," he said, standing up as everyone was quieting down. "I do hope that you are looking forward to it as I am," he smiled up at the students, "as you know, it has been confirmed that Voldemort has returned. But please do not be alarmed. We are taking safety precautions to protect you all. And because of his return, we do please ask you to stay on school grounds and if something out of the ordinary does happen, please report to me as soon as possible." Hermione listened into Professor Dumbledore's lecture, as always, as Ron and Harry turned to each other and whispered in a quiet hush. Jade couldn't help but join in the conversation with Ron and Harry, and she did just that.
"Does he always do this? Always make us head warning and such?" she said, whispering to him. Harry looked away from Ron to Jade, of course he wanted to respond to her first.
"Yes, every year. It's usually important, but we always let Hermione do the listening for us," he said, smiling.
"Yeah, Hermione's the brains of this group here. So we always rely on her. And since your our new friend now, we'll let you borrow her too," Ron whispered out to her, giving her a thumbs up. After Ron stated his comment to Jade, Dumbledore was now finished with his yearly lecture and what appeared in front of their very own eyes was food of all shapes and sizes. During the whole time they ate, they all seemed to get perfectly along with Jade. She may have seemed and looked evil and morbid, but she wasn't half as bad as people thought she was. Some people won't know who a person is, because they always rely on their own two eyes. But for Harry, he knew that he liked what kind of person Jade was, and he also thought to him self that he may finally have found a different crush than Cho Chang now.
