Nothing Compares To You

Liana Jay

Story Summary:
This is a songfic of Sinead O'Conner's 'Nothing compares to you'. Sung by Voldemort to Harry during Voldy's weaker times. If you ever wondered what Voldy sings when he has (on rare occasions) a shower, this is for you. Funny and creative.

Voldemort sits hovering in the shadow of a tree shivering. Partly because of the cold. Partly because of the fear. And partly because he doesn't have any muscles to stop him from shaking. He blends into the darkness that the moon cannot touch. He is that darkness. In the trees shadow he is near invisible. His being has faded to no more than a shadow and he hates it. If only he could get his body back. If only he could restore his strength to what it was before it happened.

His mind wanders to that fateful night so many years before. He can still smell the charred wood of the Potter's house. He can still hear the scream of Harry's mother. He can still see the fear on James' face. He can still taste the smoke in his mouth. But the most vivid thing of all is the pain as he spat that damned curse in Harry's direction.

Voldemort sighs and tries to think of happier thoughts. If he doesn't think of happier things, he'll get nightmares again.

He lets himself get pushed around by the wind. It doesn't really matter that much if he let's the wind push him around or not because it will blow him about anyway. There isn't much left of him to resist it's force. He shake's what could be a head. I don't even have enough strength to keep my ground in the wind. If only he had a second chance.

He smiles to himself. He still has his smooth voice. He could ensnare an uneducated wizard. But it had to be the right one. One that can take him back to Hogwarts, and back to Harry.

All this vengeful thinking puts Voldemort in a good mood. He starts whistling weakly to himself and for the first time in eleven years he feels invincible.

It's been so hard these eleven years

Since you took my power away

It wasn't easy for me to face my fears

When my followers ran away

Since I've been gone they can do whatever they want

Except killing whomever they choose

But watching you grow has been the biggest taunt

Because no one

I said no one could hate you like I do.

'Cos nothing compares

Nothing compares to you.

It's been so lonely with no Death Eaters here

I'm just a wizard without a wand

Nothing can stop all my great powers from fading

But I've figured out where I went wrong

When I'm stronger I can kill every little boy I see

But they'd only remind me of you

I went looking for followers but guess what they told me

Guess what they told me

They said Voldemort you'll never get strong again

No matter what you do

But they're all fools

Cause nothing compares

Nothing compares to you.

All the evil that I planted Harry, yeah I worked hard

It all died when I went away

I know that killing you, Harry, will be so hard

But I'm willing to give it another try

'Cos nothing compares

Nothing compares to you
