Harry Potter and the Ruin of Tears
Chapter 5- The Portable Door
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It was Fred and George Weasley.
"Fred, George!" Ron said excitedly, "What in blazes are you doing here?"
"We came by for a visit," said Fred.
"And a little something we wanted to show you guys, but don't tell Mum," George whispered.
"Who's there?" asked Mrs. Weasley, "How many times have I told you not to answer the door? It could have been another Death Eater!"
"Nice to see you to, Mum," said Fred.
"My goodness! Fred and George, what a lovely surprise! Come in, come in! Make yourselves at home!" said Mrs. Weasley. "Would you like some tea and snacks? I'll go and get you some."
"No, we're fine, Mum" said George.
"Well, I'll be in the kitchen if you need me," said Mrs. Weasley.
Mrs. Weasley went back into the kitchen, while the Harry, Ron, and Hermione were left with the Weasley twins.
"So, what were you going to show us?" asked Harry eagerly.
"Well," said George, "we thought that since you gave us all the money to start our business, we would do you a favor. We heard you wanted to get to Egypt. Well, we can get you there. We were going to go anyways and visit Bill. You can come along if you would like."
"Of course! We'd love to go!" said Harry.
"Speak for yourself," said Hermione, "before I say yes, may I know how we will get there and how did you find out we wanted to go?"
"We went to visit Tonks and Moody in the hospital and they told us you wanted to go," said George.
"We've invented a little something that can get you anywhere," said Fred.
"You've invented it?" said Hermione, "now I definitely don't want to go.""
"Well, at least some people appreciate our work," said Fred.
George pulled out an extremely small wooden thing out in the palm of his hand.
"This is what will get us there," said George, looking at Hermione.
"What is it?" asked Ron while staring at the small wooden thing. It had a little metal dot on it.
"It is," began George, "a portable door. It's able to take you anywhere."
Fred and George smiled proudly.
"You two thought of that?" asked Hermione
"Yup," said Fred.
"It's ingenious," said Hermione, "I bet no one even thought of making a portable door!"
"How does it work?" asked Harry.
"You put the portable door on the floor, point your wand at the door, and then say Teleportus and the name of the place," said George, "so if you want to go to Bill's house in Egyptyou would say Teleportus Bill Weasley and there you go."
"Instant door!" said Fred.
"What about mum?" asked Ron, "She'll blow her top if she finds out."
"We've got that taken care of..." said Fred, pulling out a vial full of clear liquid
"You're...you're not planning to poison her are you?" asked Hermione nervously.
"No, of course not," said George.
"We're just going to slip in some sleeping potion, that's all," said Fred innocently.
"Just going to?" said Hermione, "That's very dangerous, you know. It could go completely wrong."
"It won't as long as we stick to a schedule," said George, "and you're very good at that, Hermione."
"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Hermione impatiently.
"It means you're smart," said Fred, not wanting to delay them any longer.
"Let's get started, shall we?" asked George.
"Oh, how's business?" asked Harry.
"Booming, as usual," replied George, "we're selling out quickly of our complete stock. Looks like much of the whole school wants to skip class."
"I wonder why..." Harry said sarcastically.
"So here's the schedule," said Fred, "we'll slip mum the potion in about five minutes, then we'll use the door and go to Bill's house. The potion becomes tasteless and odorless once mixed in."
"That will leave us with about five hours to get back," said George, "before mum wakes up."
"That's plenty of time," said Harry.
Mrs. Weasley stepped into the room with a platter of snacks and teacups.
"Drink up!" said Mrs. Weasley.
They slipped the sleeping potion into Mrs. Weasley's tea while her back was turned. Once she drank it she fell asleep almost immediately.
"I'm so tired all of the sudden," Mrs. Weasley said while yawning, "I'll just relax and sit for a while..."
Once Mrs. Weasley fell asleep, George put the portable door on the floor and said "Teleportus Bill Weasley."
Suddenly the door loomed up from the ground. It became a full sized door, but with no backing.
"Brilliant!" said Ron.
"After you," said Fred, waving his arm.
They all stepped through the door and appeared in a house.
"Oh Billy boy!" said Fred, "We have arrived!"
"Already?" said a voice coming from another room, "I'll be there in a second."
"Hello, Harry," said Bill, "how are you?"
"I'm doing fine," Harry said, "thanks. How are you?"
"I'm doing well," said Bill, "how about you guys?"
"We're dandy," said Fred.
"I'm great!" said Hermione.
"I'm fine," said Ron.
Suddenly a beautiful blonde haired woman stepped into the room.
"Allo, 'Arry Potter," said the women, while kissing him on the forehead, "I 'ope you are doing well."
"Yes, I am, how are you Fleur?" asked Harry, blushing.
"I am enjoying my time wiz Bill and Gringotts," she responded, "and 'ow are you fours?"
"We're all doing well," Hermione replied after Fred, George, and Ron did not reply due to their excessive staring at Fleur.
"Well, shall we get to it?" said Fred, "We don't want your house to have a hole from the blast."
"What blast?" asked Hermione with much fear.
"Er...we forgot to mention," started Fred.
"That if we don't return in three hours, the door will explode," continued George, "so we will have no way of returning."
"WHAT?" said Harry.
"It's just a tiny detail..."
"TINY? THAT CUT'S OUR TIME IN HALF!" said Hermione.
"We better hurry then," said Bill.
"Where do you think Dumbledore is?" asked Fred.
"I'm not sure," said Bill, "why don't we just look around and if we find them that's great, but if not, let's show them the sites."
They all stepped outside of Bill's house into the blazing sun.
"Let's start looking," said Hermione, "we haven't much time."
They started walking toward some of the pyramids when Bill broke the silence.
"What's going on?" he asked, "I have never seen that pyramid before. That's very strange."
"Neither 'ave I," said Fleur.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione exchanged looks of interest.
They continued walking forward when Fleur and Hermione stopped in their tracks, staring, mouth wide open, at a very young man in his late teens or early twenties. He was extremely handsome, with big, eyes which were a shade of beautiful brown. He had blondish brown hair, which was spiked. He was very tall and slender. Harry saw why Fleur was mesmerized. When he smiled, it put the women in a trance and revealed his extremely white and even teeth.
"'e 'as ze best smile I 'ave ever seen!" said Fleur.
"He has the best everything I have seen..." said Hermione.
"I agree wiz you on zat," said Fleur.
"'ow could I 'ave never noticed 'im before?" Fleur asked. "'e must be part Veela,"
"He might be," said Hermione.
"Back to reality!" snapped Ron.
Ron shook Hermione and she snapped out of her 'trance'. So did Fleur
"Now you know how I felt in fourth year when you couldn't take your eyes off of her," whispered Hermione.
"That was different," said Ron, "besides, look who's wasting our precious time!"
"No it wasn't and you know it!" Hermione said defensively. "Just because I'm not staring at you doesn't mean I'm wasting time!"
Ron did not reply and he did not talk to Hermione until the reached the mysterious pyramid.
