Harry Potter and the Ruin of Tears

Chapter 1-The Silent Corridor

The sun was setting on what seemed the hottest day of the summer. A very skinny boy with black hair and glasses was visible outside Number Four, Privet Drive. He also had an interestingly shaped scar on his forehead, like a bolt of lightning. His clothes were faded and ripped, but it seemed that this did not matter to him. He stared dreamily into the sky as it turned to a dark purple mixed with red and orange. He was in deep thought.

He was thinking of a man in the picture with his parents, smiling at him. The man who was his godfather and was killed in the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic. He was thinking how he could never see Sirius Black again unless... Suddenly he heard his Aunt Petunia talking to Dudley, his extremely obese cousin.

"Diddykins, get that blasted boy Harry to come and eat before any of the neighbors see him do any you-know-what."

The Dursleys relied heavily on their image, and wanted nothing to do with "Harry's world," the wizarding world, and did not even mention the word magic in their house in case a neighbor overheard them.

Harry saw Dudleyapproach him, as it was very hard to miss his massive form; he looked

like a pig on his hind legs, complete with snout.

"D-d-dinner is r-ready," stuttered Dudley, who ran back into the house after he told

Harry.

The Dursleys had feared Harry since his pickup from King's Cross Station, when a few of his wizard had threatened the Dursleys that if they ever mistreated Harry, they would have to answer to them. Harry missed all of his old friends: Ron, Hermione, 'Mad-Eye' Moody, Nymphadora Tonks, Remus Lupin, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, and especially Albus Dumbledore.

The group was missing someone though...Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, who was killed in the Department of Mysteries (Ministry of Magic) after only two years of freedom from the Wizard Prison Azkaban. The thought of Sirius made the abyss of grief deep in his heart sear with pain. Sirius was the last relative he had that he was actually fond of and who had known his parents quite well (he was his father's best friend and best man at his parents' wedding). He had to find a way to speak with Sirius one more time.

"Where is that confounded boy?" shouted Uncle Vernon.

Harry just realized that he had been drifting off in thought for some while now. When he entered the kitchen, Uncle Vernon was a slight purple, as though wanting nothing more than to throw Harry out with his own hands onto the street, but holding himself back. Harry knew he had a weapon more powerful than magic--threats. If the Dursleys made Harry uncomfortable in any way, he could just send a message to any members of the Order to come and deal with the Dursleys.

The Dursleys' worst nightmare was waking up one day and being turned into slugs. Harry wished he could do this, but since he was an underage wizard, by law he couldn't do any magic outside of school.

After dinner, Harry wandered back into his room where he lay on his bed and fell fast asleep.

He was running through a silent corridor lit with torches hanging on the walls. This corridor was familiar in some way...He opened the door and was in a circular room with many doors and went through the door opposite him. He was in a rectangular room that had a strange mechanical clicking... no time to investigate--he must hurry. He continued through the door at the end. Harry knew this place--he had been here before--but no time to think, he mustn't waste time. He was in a room with many shelves and glass spheres on the many shelves. He ran to aisle number ninety-seven where he heard himself cackling madly. He looked at his hands and saw they were white and long like spider legs.

He heard himself utter, very bemused, "You fools! You think the most powerful wizard in the world needs you to gain power? What I have in store is much, much worse than what you think. HAHAHAHAHA!"

Harry woke up to find himself drenched in sweat, screaming, and his scar was aching painfully. It was two o'clock in the morning, and Harry realized it was his birthday.

"What did it mean?" Harry wondered, 'Should I tell anyone? No, it's probably a trap like last time and I don't want anyone to get killed again.' The weight of Sirius' death still weighed him down; he still thought it was his fault, even after what Dumbledore told him. He went back to sleep and did not wake up until morning.

After breakfast, Harry went back upstairs and sat on his bed, thinking about his dream. What could it have meant? Why was the voice so vague? Suddenly, an owl plunged into his room carrying a package; it was soon followed by four more.

He knew what these were and quickly opened the first one which was from Hermione. It was a book called The Dark Arts: Its Origins and Uses. The package also contained the newspaper clipping from the Daily Prophet that stated he had told the truth about Voldemort's return

He opened the next one, eager to see what it was. It was from Ron, who had and he sent him a large box full of sweets such as Chocolate Frogs and homemade Treacle Fudge, among other sweets things. It also had some joke items from Fred and George's newly opened shop.

The next one was from Hagrid and had a small book titled Dragons and their Habitats.

The next one was from all of those from the Order (though he had to guess from the clues as they did not right specifically who it was from incase it got into the wrong hands) and oddly it had contained a bottle of Veritaserum, which he guessed was made by Professor Snape. He thought this was a very odd gift, but was thankful nonetheless.

The last one had an official look to the envelope with familiar green ink (as well as a seal). Harry shuddered. How could he have forgotten? He opened it hurriedly opened it and found out his OWL results. "Let's see," He said aloud. He read the letter. Dear Mr. Harry Potter,

Ministry of Magic

(What a wonderful birthday present, Harry thought to himself)

Congratulations! You have excelled in 6 OWL subjects!

Charms: Exceeds Expectations

Transfiguration: Exceeds Expectations

Herbology: Exceeds Expectations

Defense Against the Dark Arts: Outstanding

(To Harry's surprise) Potions: Outstanding

Care of Magical Creatures: Outstanding

Divination: Dreadful

Astronomy: Acceptable

History of Magic: Poor

Harry's heart leapt. Even though he bombed in Divination and History of Magic, he did well in the ones that counted to get into N.E.W.T.S in order to become an Auror. This was the only good news he had for a while. He thought to himself that Professor McGonagall could have interceded to get him an Outstanding in Potions, as she must have been serious about her promise to him. Wait until he told the others!

He put the birthday cards he received from everyone under the floorboard, as well as the gifts (all of the gifts were accompanied by a card). His scar started hurting immensely. Voldemort must be angry, he thought to himself. Pigwidgeon hooted and zoomed around the room, happy that he had delivered a package, while Hedwig hooted in annoyance. Then all the owls flew back out the window and back to the owners.

Then another owl flew in, this time carrying just an envelope. It was from the Order (he had to deduct what each line meant and who it was from by the hints, again). The letter said that the Order was going to take him back to headquarters tomorrow night, as something horrible had happened.

A/N: PLEASE R&R (once again ^_^) and tell me if it's any good!
