Harry Potter and the Ruin of Tears

Chapter 3-The Legend Revealed

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Harry was in shock at what he saw inside his godfather's house. He saw Mrs. Weasley lying on the floor. Lupin and Moody quickly ran to her aid.

"She's petrified," growled Moody.

"There is only one explanation for this," said Lupin as he and Moody were reviving Mrs. Weasley.

"Death Eaters..." said Tonks, "but how did they get through all of the locks; how did they even find the place anyways?"

"Well, I am sure Voldemort has his sources." Lupin eyed Kreacher suspiciously.

"You know that as Sirius' godson, you have inherited his house, including that wretched house elf," said Mrs. Weasley.

"Since Sirius has passed, the house elf had to keep its mouth shut as he was ordered to," said Lupin, "but has been discreetly giving indirect innuendos to Voldemort."

"Molly, was anything taken?" asked Moody while staring at Mrs. Weasley.

"Well Alastor, I'm not sure since I was petrified the whole time," replied Mrs. Weasley in a tone of annoyance.

"Well they obviously came here for a reason," said Tonks.

"So that's why...Molly how long ago were you attacked?" asked Lupin urgently.

"About 10 minutes before you came and they left about a minute or two before you came," Mrs. Weasley replied.

"Voldemort sent those Death Eaters to stall us, if we left earlier, we would have seem the Death Eaters leave the house," mumbled Lupin, "if we just could have been faster..."

"It was inevitable, Remus," said an old, stately wizard who just walked through the door, "it was no mistake, you had to protect yourselves and Harry."

"Professor Dumbledore!" exclaimed Harry.

"Hello Mr. Potter," said Dumbledore walking towards Harry, "I assume your summer was fine?"

"Yea, it was all right," replied Harry, "although I have many questions, Professor, about all that has hap-"

"Tomorrow morning Harry," interrupted Dumbledore, "you need to get a good nights rest first."

"Oh, all right..." grumbled Harry, "goodnight everyone."

Harry took his trunk up to his room and found Ron, Ginny, and Hermione there. Ginny ran out of the room as Harry came in.

"Hey Harry!" said Ron.

"Hello Harry," said Hermione.

"Hi Guys. Nice to see you again," said Harry "do any of you know what happened?"

"Nope, but I sure could use some Extendable Ears right now..." shrugged Ron.

"Ron, you're a genius!" exclaimed Harry, "I still have that entire box of joke stuff you sent me and I'm sure I saw one there!"

"Of course!" said Ron, "how stupid of me to forget I sent you that."

Hermione gave a look of disapproval.

"Just wait until tomorrow," said Hermione with an irritated look, "they are going to tell us anyways so-"

"Why not find out now since we are going to find out anyways," interrupted Ron.

"I'm going to bed," said Hermione as she stormed out of the room.

"What's with her?" asked Harry.

"Dunno. Look, here they are!" replied Ron, while he grabbed the Extendable Ears out of the box.

They slowly lowered the thin, flesh-colored string lower until they could here faint voices.

"YOU MEAN THEY STOLE IT?" shouted Moody.

"Well, y-yes..." stuttered Molly, "it's not my fault they come in here uninvited and stun me from behind!"

"Come, come Alastor, she's right. It's not her fault!" proclaimed Lupin .

"We will need to guard the door all night as they might break in again," declared Dumbledore, "we will switch places every hour. As for you Molly, you can go to sleep, you have had a rough day."

"Wow. Heavy stuff," said Tonks.

Harry and Ron had no idea what any of this meant and tried figuring it out, but in vain.

Harry was soon back in the Department of Mysteries. He went passed the silent corridor and into the circular room. This time he went to the door that had melted Sirius' knife's blade. The door was opening! It was almost open until-

"Harry, wake up!" said Ron, "it's morning and we can find out what's going on!"

Harry woke up, irritated because he was so close to seeing inside the locked door.

They got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast, where they met Ginny and Hermione.

"Good Morning!" said Mrs. Weasley, giving Harry a hug. "Breakfast is ready!" she shouted at the others in the room next door. "They are a bit tired, they had to stay up most of the night," she explained.

"Good Morning," said Hermione and Ginny in unison.

"Hello," said Harry and Ron.

They started eating when the others came in. They were all yawning and fighting to stay awake. Everyone was now seated and eating.

"So I assume you want to know what's going on?" said Dumbledore with the familiar twinkle in his eyes.

"Absolutely!" exclaimed Harry.

"Well, I will not make the same mistake twice," uttered Dumbledore.

"Where to begin, where to begin...Ah!" proclaimed Dumbledore, "Very long ago, even long before Hogwarts was established, an ancient civilization thrived. They created an ancient power, which was used for evil. The power was so great; it greatly exceeds that of Voldemort."

Everyone gasped. 'What could be more powerful than Voldemort?'

"So this power is evil?" asked Harry.

"In a way, whatever the intentions of the user is, good or evil, so becomes the power. Since they used it for evil, it became evil."

"Oh," said Harry.

"Then the power was finally sealed away safely," continued Dumbledore, "and the people lived peacefully. Soon most forgot it even existed as it was well hidden from all eyes to prevent the release of it again. This is the legend..."paused Dumbledore, "...the legend of the Ruin of Tears. We knew that Voldemort would want to resurrect this power as soon as he can, so we found and safeguarded the key to the Vestibule of Knowledge, which that shows the way to the Ruin plus how to raise it to our view. What the Death Eaters stole was this key and with it, they release the power, but in order to control it, you must collect five special orbs called Regere Orbs. Once collected, you must recite an incantation and the power will then be in control of who ever recited the incantation. Now, all we can do is try to collect the Regere Orbs before Voldemort and his Death Eaters do. The ancient people made it very difficult to revive the power. They didn't want evil to befall us and rule us again. The orbs are hidden throughout the world. The only way of finding them is to have the key. The key leads you in the direction of the closest orb. So in order to get the orbs, we must get the key back."

"I've heard of that legend before!" interjected Hermione, "I read it in Legends and Lore of Old."

"Professor Dumbledore, where exactly is this 'Vestibule of Knowledge'?" asked Harry.

Dumbledore smiled and said, "I'm quite sure you have been at the entrance to it before."
