Secret Love V: The Last Resort
Draco slid his hands over Laine's back and under the hem of her shirt. He felt a tiny bump for each of her vertebrae and his palms tingled warmly. The rise and fall of his fingers on her delicate spine both thrilled and shocked him. Who could have imagined that he could fall so deeply in love with Laine Parrish, a girl who had openly admitted to seducing Harry Potter just for fun? At the moment he didn't care at all; all that mattered then was the shivers crawling up his neck as Laine placed gentle kisses under his ear.
He paid careful attention to Laine's reaction to everything he did, half afraid that this moment of perfection and bliss would end as soon as it started. She let out a breathy, contented sigh as Draco ran his fingers through her hair. God, he loved her, everything about her. He loved the way she gave little whimpers of pleasure as he kissed her, how she fit so perfectly into his arms, and the way she looked at him right before her eyes closed for a kiss.
"Draco, we should get back to the Great Hall. Pretty soon someone will notice that we're gone," she said, trying to speak while Draco kissed her.
"No one will notice, and if they do, who cares? I want everyone to know how much I love you!" he exclaimed.
He kissed her again and this time she didn't try to speak. She gave in to Draco's persuasive kisses and her love for him.
Ginny didn't to breakfast that morning. Instead, she laid on her bed, staring at the fluttering butterflies that danced across the canopy. She had bewitched her bed hangings last year, but was already growing tired of their cheerful frolicking.
She reached into her pocket for what seemed like the thousandth time, feeling the smooth, cool glass under her fingertips. Her whole bed shook uncontrollably once again at the thought of the deadly toxins coursing through her veins and into her broken heart.
Ginny opened the drawer of her bedside table and pulled out a scrap of parchment and a ragged quill. She stuck the end of the feather into her mouth and thought for a second of what to write, of how to explain the depth of her despair. Nothing came to mind, so she wrote:
I'm sorry for everything. Maybe if I was a better daughter, a better student, a better friend, none of this would have happened. But I'm not and it did. Mum and Dad, you always did your best for me and I love you for it. To my brothers, I'm sorry, I love all of you very much. To my friends, thank you for everything you've done for me. And finally, to Harry. What can I say? I'll always love you, even though you don't love me. Even when I'm gone.
- Ginny
At that, she opened the bottle and took a deep breath. With trembling hands, she put the flask to her lips and tossed the liquid back in one gulp. Ginny could feel nothing but calm, for she knew the pain would be over with soon.
