Until the Sky Falls Down On Me

The only light in the warm common room was from the fireplace, and a few scattered candles placed around on tables. I sat on a mass of soft blankets next to the fire, watching Harry as he slowly, seductively made his way across the room. I couldn't believe what was happening. My heart was fluttering around inside me as fast as a hummingbird's. Just this evening, Harry had revealed his true feelings for me. Feelings like mine that I had though would never have been reciprocated. The clock at the far end of the room struck two o'clock in the morning. He sat down in front of me, and smiled, staring at me.

"What?" I asked him, blushing bright red.

"I just can't believe how beautiful you look in the firelight. I have to say that I have loved you since we first met on the train. And for so long I have wanted to do this," he whispered.

We leaned toward each other, our lips met. Such soft lips. He slipped his arms around my waist. I raised my hands, and ran my fingers through his soft, unruly hair. Each passing second with him was electric. Everything disappeared, the fire, the common room, everything except us. Slowly, he opened his mouth, and slipped his tongue between my lips. A shock like I had never experienced shot throughout my body. I opened my mouth as he did, out tongues met. So gentle, but at the same time such sweet agony. Our tongues danced a beautiful waltz. He unclipped my hair, letting it fall across my back, and stroked it. He slowly let his hands trail down the back of me, like fire. Suddenly the pace became more frantic. We kissed each other with such passion, that I thought the heat of it would catch the entire common room on fire. We slowly parted and looked at each other with such love in our eyes.

A new beginning

We lay down on the blankets, him on top of me. He softly, gently kissed behind my ear, all down my neck. Like fire, he kissed the tender skin on my neck above my collarbone. I closed my eyes, and let out a small whimper of pleasure.

Harry looked me in the eyes, and smiled. "You like that?"

I answered by reaching up and pulling him into me for another kiss. "This is a dream," I thought, "This is too good to be true." I never thought it possible to want someone as much as I wanted Harry right now. I slowly arched my body against him as our tongues dueled.

I had my eyes closed in ecstasy, I noticed something wet slipping down my cheek. They were tears. The happiness I felt had overwhelmed me. The years of angst, frustration, and longing had caught up with me. Everything I had wanted had found me. Harry. He is all I want all I need.

Harry and I parted, and he looked at me with that piercing gaze. I felt he knew every thought in my head.

"You're crying," he whispered, "Do you want me to stop?"

"No! I'm crying because I never want you to stop. I'm afraid of not feeling like this. I want this to go on forever," I whispered, "I just want to be with you."

"We are together, and no one will change that," he said softly.

He lay down beside me, and wrapped his arms around me. I feel so safe with him near. We lay there for hours it seems, just enjoying being with one another. He slowly strokes my hair, making shivers roll down my spine.

"Harry, I love you, and I never want us to be apart," I said.

"I told you we never will be. I will always be here for you," he whispered.

"But--the dark lord--what if he tries to--," I stammered, not wanting to say what I feared most.

"It's ok. I don't know what will happen, or when. I only now, I love you, and no matter what he does, I will always love you," he assured me.

"But all that's happened lately. What with what happened to Seamus? I know you two weren't as close as you and Ron, but you had known him for years... It's just so sad," I said, "Are you sure you want to be distracted when you should be preparing to face You-know-who?"

"You are what's keeping me sane. You are helping more than you'll ever know," he said, "I love you Hermione."

"I love you Harry," I whispered.

We lay there for so long, that when I looked up, I saw a soft glow upon the horizon. I quickly sat up.

"Harry! It's dawn."

"So it is." He smiled up at me.

"Think we should go up to bed?" I asked.

"It's almost seven-thirty, and I'm not tired. Shall we go for a walk before breakfast?" he asked.

I grinned, incredibly happy, and energized, despite the lack of sleep. "Let's go."

We donned our cloaks, and swept out of the portrait hole, hand-in-hand, our fingers laced together, ready to take on whatever life had to throw at us.
