The Secret Admirer

Chapter 2

xxx

Draco was lying on the floor in pain. He wasn´t sure of his surroundings, but he heard someone yelling one of the unforgivable curses. Then he heard a girl´s scream and felt someone jump on him. A mass of red fell in his face and he realized it was someone´s hair. But who was it? And what is happening here, he thought. He noticed a mass of people surrounding him and two other people before he passed out.

Draco decided to go to the library to find a book on dreams. He had skipped dinner today, hoping to be the first person up and out of the dorms. But, due to his luck, Pansy had decided to skip too. He tried to sneak past her, but it was like she had him on radar. As much as he tried he couldn´t shake her away either.

"Pansy, for Merlin´s sake, give it a rest! I told you I´m busy already," Draco Malfoy screamed at Pansy.

"Oh posh Draco. I know you want to go to the Christmas dance with me. You´re just playing hard to get."

"Get off it! I would never go to a dance with a sniveling pig like you!"

"Draco, I know you don´t mean it. You went with me last year remember?"

"I went with you last year because I was bored and you wouldn´t shut your trap. But this year is different Pansy." He pulled out his wand. "Leave me alone before I petrify you."

"You wouldn´t do tha-"

"Petrificus Totalus. I must say Pansy," he remarked while stepping around her, "that I like you a lot more when you don´t talk." He quickly made his way out of the corridor before anyone could see what had happened. He figured she wouldn´t tell anyone what happened because she was madly in love with him. He continued to stride towards the library, glaring at anyone who dared to look at him. This is exactly how it should be. People cowering in my presence. He was busy admiring Blaise Zabini when someone slammed into him and he fell to the cold floor. "What is wrong with you?!" He yelled as he leapt up and brushed himself off. He looked down and saw Ginny Weasley lying on the floor crying. "Oh great. A Weasley. What´s your hurry? Are you late to your date with Tom Riddle?" He laughed. Ginny blushed and started to cry even harder. "Jeez woman. It´s not like you broke a rib. Quit crying about it."

Ginny looked at him and saw that he was scowling at her. "It´s- it´s not that." She sniffed.

Draco started to feel bad. He always hated to see women cry. He knelt next to her and said, "Do you want to talk about it?" Ginny looked up at him and he could sense her surprise. Who says a Malfoy can´t be nice every once and a while? he told himself.

"I- I guess I could. I have an- an admirer. And Harry asked me to go to the dance."

"So how do those go together? Don´t tell me you´re going with Potter!"

"I agreed to go with my admirer already. And then Harry got mad at me when I told him and Ron told me I couldn´t go!" Ginny broke out in a fresh batch of tears. But much to her surprise, Draco didn´t mock her. Instead he wrapped his arms around her. Could Malfoy be hugging me? Ginny thought. Could I be touching a Weasley? Draco thought. Ginny relaxed her head on his chest and Draco got a queasy feeling in his stomach, but something told him it wasn´t because of the spaghetti he ate for dinner. Draco was about to suggest that she should go back to her dorm or to the hospital wing when Ginny gasped.

"I can hear Harry and Ron´s voices. They are coming around the corner. Quick- we have to hide."

Draco jumped up and seized her by the arm, dragging her around the corner.

They heard Ron´s voice come steadily closer. "I think I just saw Ginny disappear around the corner," he said.

"Are you sure?" Harry asked.

"I saw her long red hair," Ron replied.

"Oh no!" Ginny said as she watched Draco´s face pale.

"There´s only one thing to do. Follow me." Ginny didn´t know whether she should trust Draco or not. After all, he was the enemy. She just stood in the same spot, an indecisive look on her face. Her mind was made up though, as soon as she saw Ron turn the corner. The look on his face made her run at full speed. She was running so fast that she passed Draco, who had gotten a 30-second head start.

"Hey!" He said. "No one passes a Malfoy!"

"Looks like this no one did," Ginny stuck out her tongue. Draco sped up to keep up with her. Behind them were Ron and Harry, shouting at Ginny and cursing at Draco.

"Pureblood!" Draco yelled at the statue. Draco went running through and, despite her doubts, Ginny did too.

"Virginia Weasley! Get back here this second! I´m sending an owl to mom about your behavior!" Ron screeched at Ginny but it was too late. The door had closed. He started yelling at the door.

"Don´t worry. He can´t get in. It´s bewitched so that it only responds to my voice," Draco drawled.

"Isn´t this the Slyth-" Ginny gasped when she turned around. "I thought we were in the Slytherin common room!" She walked further in the room and found herself in a room filled with oriental furniture and mirrors. There were also multiple doors leading to other rooms. "Where did this come from? And why do you get it? Does anyone else know?"

Draco flopped onto the couch. "It´s always been here, my father got it for me, the teachers know about it and you," he narrowed his eyes, "can´t tell any other person about it."

"And keep this a secret! Are you kidding?" Ginny exclaimed.

Draco jumped up and stalked towards her. He grabbed her arms and pinned her against the wall. "Keep your mouth shut," he growled as she tried to get away.

"No!" Ginny shouted and broke away from him. She ran through a door and locked it behind her, only to realize she was stuck in a bedroom with no doors. She ran behind a dresser to hide when she heard Draco say `Alohomora´. But she was surprised when she didn´t hear any footsteps. Ginny stepped around the dresser and jumped when she saw someone standing right in front of her. He grabbed her and threw her on the bed. "No one says no to a Malfoy." He kissed her roughly and stalked out of the room. "Now get out," he yelled from the other room.

"Gladly," Ginny screeched back at him and marched from the room. God, sometimes I hate myself. I should go after her. But I can´t. I´m a Malfoy. That would ruin my reputation. He went to lie down.

"I hate him," Ginny muttered after she left.

"Who?" A voice said from behind her.

"You! Don´t you have anything better to do than to follow me around? Can´t you just go find another friend?"

"Ginny, Ginny, Ginny," he shook his head at her. "Where are your manners? If you only knew what your mother would say."

"I know what she´d say. That you are a -"

"Virginia Weasley! I demand you be civil," he said in a mocking tone. "Why don´t you be nice? I know Draco got you all riled up but-"

"He did not! That selfish brat could never even come close-" she stopped abruptly when she realized whom she was talking to. I don´t want to share anything important with Tom, she thought.

Tom took a step closer to her. "I bet I could." He stared down at her.

Ginny almost forgot whom she was talking to when she gazed up in his bright green eyes. She swallowed quickly and looked away. Tom smirked and said, "Told you so."

"Get away from me! I hate you! You´re making me sick!" Ginny screamed at the top of her lungs. "You´re the one making Harry worship me!"

"But Ginny, for the last five years that´s all you wanted, so it´s within my power to grant you your wish," Tom reasoned.

"I don´t like Harry anymore. He´s not who I thought he was, so just keep him away from me while I try to sort everything out," she said in a desperate voice.

"This is a hard decision," Tom said as he stroked his chin thoughtfully. "But I think my answer is," he smirked, "No."

"You selfish bastard!" Ginny yelled but it was too late. Tom was already gone. She slumped to the ground and stayed there for the rest of the night.
