This is in Harry's 5th year, but I began it way before it OotP came out!

Never was and never will be,

You don't know how you've betrayed me,

And somehow you've got everybody fooled.

Without the mask, where will you hide?

Can't find yourself, lost in your lie.

Chapter 1

During the day it had been a lovely Summer's day. Now that it was night time, it was terrible. There was a dark storm, with thunder and lightning, making Harry not hear his fat cousin, Dudley, snoring. Apart from the crackling lightning, and the booming thunder, this was quite a relief for him.

Harry was lying in his bed, trying to get to sleep. When he closed his eyes, there was hard BOOM sound downstairs, at the front door of number 4 Privet Drive. It sounded like someone had knocked down the door.

Harry could hear the thudding, it seemed to come towards the stairs. "Why haven't I heard Dudley's squeeling," thought Harry. "Or Aunt Petunia's screams? Or Uncle Vernon's roaring? Surely they can hear the thumping?"

His mind was swamped with questions, when his door was knocked down by some unknown force. There stood a girl, maybe the same age as he was himself. Fifteen. She had long brown hair, and slightly tanned skin. Blood had soaked her hands and the black robes she was wearing. Her dark eyes were filled with malice, as she said: "Goodbye, Potter."

She flicked out her wand from her robes, and before Harry could react, she screamed: "AVADA KEDAVARA!"

It hit Harry like a bullet from a gun. Green light. Then - there was nothing.

***

Harry tried to scream but no words came out. He was sweating madly. Then relief came, as he realized it was just a nightmare.

He lay on his back, on the rather uncomfortable bed his relatives had given him. He wiped his forehead, as it was hot and sticky.

He quickly got out of the bed, knowing he couldn't sleep in it. It held a horrible smell, and it was extremely damp. He practically skipped to the bathroom, happy that he was alive.

Turning on the shower, he stripped off his smelly pajamas, and went into the shower. He hadn't waited for the water to heat, but he didn't care. The cold water made his temperature lower, which he was glad of.

He stayed in that shower for what seemed like hours. He only came out when Uncle Vernon was banging on the door for him to come out, since he needed the toilet.

***

Selene woke up from the nightmare she had. It was about her identical twin sister, Malificent, killing a black-haired, green-eyed boy, with a scar on his forehead. She knew this was the famous Harry Potter, or "the enemy" as he was sometimes known as.

Selene's twin sister was Lord Voldemort's right-hand-man, who was faithful to him from the begining. Their parents were Death Eaters, and had told the two that they would be getting their Dark Mark this year. Privately, Selene didn't really want an ugly marking on her perfect skin. She didn't really want to have anything to do with evil. But her sister's and parent's wrath was strong, and it was wise not to disagree with them.

Her bedroom door was kicked open, and there was Malificent herself, striding towards her sister. Her black robes and hands were draped in blood, just like in her nightmare.

Selene asked her: "How come you are the only one, in this entire manor, who simply cannot learn to knock?"

Malificent glared at her. "Shut up Selene. You are needed in The Plan."

"Don't tell me: It's gonna be one of those, Lets-Kill-That-Annoying-Little-Bastard-Potter-And-Make-Lord-Buggermort-Happy-Again-So-He-Will-Not-Kill-Us."

"You'll find out. Now listen carefully. The War has not begun, but our spies tell us that Potter is under heavy surveilance 24-7. So, what we are doing is you will go to Hogwarts, an orphan, since mother and father will be dead. Don't give me that look, they will have fake deaths. Alright, and we have used magic to make that Mudblood Granger, who is one of Potter's best friends, think that you are a distant cousin, and that is what everyone else thinks, due to more magic."

"And what I am supposed to do?"

"Well, I'm sure Granger will be nice to you, and you must befriend her. Then on the train to Hogwarts, she'll probably introduce you to Potter. The big part of it is to make him gain your trust, by any means necessary, and eventually lead him to Voldemort, where he will be killed."

"You will be sorted into Gryfinndor. This is a great chance to be near him, to gain his trust. Michael, your real cousin, will be around Hogwarts, to keep an eye on you, and so you do your job properly.

"And what if I refuse, Malificent?" asked Selene.

Malificent gave her an angry look. "Let's just say, crucio!" she snapped quickly. She had unsuspectically whipped out her wand before saying an Unforgivable Curse.

Selene fell of her bed in shock. She rolled about in pain. Inside of her, it felt like hot candle wax was being poured on her insides and bones. Like her face had been slashed with a large knife, and sour vinegar was being poured over the wounds, with thousands of sharp knives, continuosly stabbing at her arms and legs. And then, it stopped.

Selene lay on her back, winded due to the shock. She looked at her sister, with horror, and disbelief in her eyes.

Everything blanked out, and Selene fainted.

***

Ayenia Malfoy looked out of her bedroom window, gazing upon the storm. Despite the terrible noise, it looked quite pretty, the way the blue lightning cracked here and there, and the thick, purple clouds flashed every now and then.

She pulled a silvery lock of hair from her face. She was a Malfoy, the eldest child, and only daughter of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. She had the Malfoy features, platinum hair, pale skin, but her face was only slightly pointed. She had lady-like hands, with perfectly manicured nails. She had a slim figure, and seemed to possess the power of knowing what clothes, make-up and hairstyle would suit her perfectly.

Yes, Ayenia had the look, and the birth certificate, to prove she was a Malfoy, but she never felt like one. She didn't sneer at muggle-born families, nor curl her lip at both Muggle and Wizarding families that were "below her."

For all of her life, she felt like she had been adopted. She was extremely pleased when the Sorting Hat sorted her into Slytherin, but after a few years, she had realized that she was only happy because she didn't want to dishonor her family by going to another House. Every member of her family had been Slytherin.

Five years ago, her brother had been sorted into Slytherin as well. She did like Draco, but his friends were so ugly and stupid. During the Summer Holiday, the Parkinson family had stayed over, and were still doing so. Ayenia hated the way their stuck-up daughter looked at Draco, calling him Drakey, in a sing-song voice. She knew he hated this, but the way their Father glared at him, he just played along. Ayenia had a suspition that her Father and Mr. Parkinson had arranged for them to be wed after they graduated from Hogwarts.

She first thought this when ever since Pansy and Draco came home for the Summer Holidays, in their first year, the Parkinson's would come to stay at the Malfoy Manor for a few weeks, hoping that Draco and Pansy would fall in love. In Pansy's case, it was working. Draco, however would curl his lip at her every time she left the room. Only, of course, if it was just him or if Ayenia was there.

Ayenia sighed, then stretched and slowly go out of the seat she was in, and lumbered towards her king-sized, double bed, got in, and fell asleep immediantly.

***

A few weeks later, Harry was in The Burrow, with his best friend, Ron Weasley. In the morning, the two of them slouched down the stairs into the kitchen, and sat themselves down at the table.

Fred and George were already sitting there, along with Mr. Weasley.

"Allo, 'Arry," said one of the twins, but Harry couldn't tell which one said it.

Before Harry could reply, Mrs. Weasley turned around from the frying-pan, hands on her hips.

"George Weasley! How many times must you be told? You do not speak with your mouth full! Good morning Harry, Ron." she said giving them a smile.

"Morning," they said, simeoustanaly.

They sat themselves down. Ron helped himself to a buttered roll, and Harry began on the french toast Mrs. Weasley had given him.

"Say Ron," he said, after taking a few bites. "Why isn't Hermione here? She usually comes, unless she has gone on holiday. She never told me that she was."

After he said that, Ginny came down the stairs, in an old, purple dressing-gown.

"Bye bye Weasleys, Harry," nodded Mr. Weasley.

Then Mr. Weasley strode out. He was to have a busy day, with his new job, though Harry didn't know what it was.

Ginny sat herself down at the table, opposite of Harry.

"Hermione's at her house with her cousin, Harry," answered Mrs. Weasley. "Selene, I think her name is, is to join Hogwarts this year, same year as you two," she nodded. "Anyway, Hermione's acting like a tutor over the Summer Holidays, so you might only see her in Diagon Alley or on the train."

Soon, Pigwedgeon came flying in through the window, knocking Fred's glass of orange juice over. Sighing, Mrs. Weasley gave a wave of her wand, and a cloth quickly cleaned up the mess, while Fred helped himself to some more juice.

Ron took the letter off of Pig's leg, when Harry said: "Why is 'Mione's cousin staying with her?"

"Well, Harry dear," stuttered Mrs. Weasley. "Se...Se..Selene's parents were...murdered."

Harry mouth was wide open. "Mudered?" he asked.

Mrs. Weasley handed him an older looking Daily Prophet.

"Malicia Family Found Mudered," Harry read out aloud. On the front page was a girl with long chesnutty-brown coloured hair, her head in her hands.

"Lucifer and Elizabeth Malicia were found dead in their drawing-room yesterday at 7:15 pm. Their only daughter Selene, fifteen, came back to her manor-house after a shopping-spree with her friends. 'I came into the drawing-room, hoping my mother and father would be there. I did see them, but their faces were all pale, and they looked so frightened.' The Malicia's butler, Wilheim Karmp, sixty-seven, was charged of using the Avada Kedavara Curse on them."

There was at least 4 more pages, Harry quickly scanned them, one was about Karmp's trial, and a few letters from fellow Daily Prophet readers, one about Selene, another about the muder, and one about Mr. and Mrs. Malicia.

"Don't you go asking Hermione or Selene about it," scolded Mrs. Weasley.

Harry's eyes flicked to the page about Selene. He scanned it quickly, but one bit caught his eye:

Miss Malicia will be staying with her only livimg relatives, the Grangers, who are Muggles, but their only child, Hermione, is a fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Miss Malicia is believed to be a distant cousin of the Granger's sibling, and it has been decided that Miss Malicia shall be living with her.

"Here Harry," said Ron, passing him the letter from Pig. "Already read it."

Harry put down the paper, and looked at the letter.

Dear Ron and Harry,

How are you? If you are wondering, I'm in my home, with a distant cousin of mine, Selene. She's starting Hogwarts as a fifth year, and living with me and my parents, because of what happened to her mum and dad, but I'll tell you about that later. I guess you can say I'm 'teaching' her, so she'll be ready for September.

Could you possibly come to Diagon Alley tomorrow, where we can meet to get our things, and you can be introduced to Selene.

Love,

Hermione

***

Selene hated it here. She was lying in a single bed, in Hermione Granger's bedroom. She had been staying for what seemed like weeks. She felt like screaming and bashing at the walls with her fists, and crying until her eyes had all swollen up, and she could cry no longer.

The Grangers were Muggles, except from Hermione. There was nothing magical here, everything was done by hand, or by some strange thing they called 'electricity.' Hermione would teach her spells five times a day. The thing was, Selene already knew probably twice as much as the annoying mudblood.

Malificent and Selene went through a ritual three days after they were born. It was a compicated, special ritual, consisting of the Dark Arts. Ever since their blood was shed and put into the other, they could communicate and do many different things. On of the things, was telepathy. Malificent could use this power to see what Selene was doing, and give her orders every now and then. Since Malificent was the dominent twin, her sister could not spy on her, but she could use telepathy.

In her bed, Selene closed her eyes. She pictured Malificent in her mind, then imagined herself talking to her.

"Malificent, I hate this. I can't take anymore."

"You must Selene. Either that, or face death."

"Death seems better than this."

"You might not be killed. I'm sure The Dark Lord knows things far worse than death. It's only about a fortnight away 'til you'll be on the train to Hogwarts."

Selene said nothing.

"You'll be happier at Hogwarts, Selene. Believe me. Right now, sleep. You should be going to Diagon Alley tomorrow, where you will meet Potter and Weasley. You can't spoil it. If anything goes wrong, the whole Plan will be ruined. And you will die."

***

Lucius Malfoy was practically singing at breakfast that day.

His wife, Narcissa, was sipping her tea, and Draco was munching his toast, so Ayenia as the one who had to ask: "Why are you so happy today, Father?"

Mr. Malfoy looked at her. "Ah, Ayenia my dear, it is because of this." He handed her the Daily Prophet.

"Malicia Family Found Mudered," she said. Narcissa and Draco looked up. "But Father," said Ayenia. "Why is this a good thing? The Malicias have been on our side since Lord Voldemort came to power. Why would their assasination be good?"

"It is part of The Plan. Remember what I told you last week? Well, now it is in action, and the Wizarding World thinks that Lucifer and Elizabeth are really dead!"

"Lucius?" said Narcissa. "Isn't Selene joining Hogwarts for her fifth year? The same as Draco?"

"Yes. No...no...er, funny business now Draco."

"Ok, Father."

***

Hermione and Selene where at Diagon Alley. It's better than that Muggle house, thought Selene.

"Right, Selene. Do you have a Gringott's account?" asked Hermione, as she and Selene began walking towards the white marble building.

She nodded, and smiling, Hermione said "Good. Oh look," she said, pointing. "There's Ron and Harry over there. Come on, lets catch up with them, and I'll introduce you."

Selene smirked to herself before running after Hermione. The Plan was so far running very smoothly.

***

"Harry! Ron!" came a voice they knew very well. Turning round, they saw their best friend Hermione, whose hair was not so frizzy anymore, Harry noticed. The girl running behind her, he thought, must be Selene. But Harry was sure he recognized that face from somewhere.

"Hi," greeted Hermione. "Selene, this is Harry and Ron. Harry, Ron, meet Selene."

Selene smiled at them, and Ron's ears went pink, and Harry could feel himself blush as she shook their hands. There was no doubt that she wasn't pretty, with her long brown hair, pulled professionly into a french plait, with a good tan, with high cheekbones, and perfect, white teeth, which reminded Harry and Ron about Gilderoy Lockhart.

The rest of the Weasleys, and Hermione's parents had soon caught up, and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley beamed down at Selene, and both Fred and George winked at her. Somehow, Mr. Weasley came into a discussion about computers with Mr. Granger, who explaimed that computers had keys and mice and cookies and chips in them, and every word that he spoke seemed to make Mr. Weasley want to get a computer even more, but his wife refused.

***

When they went into Gringott's, the small goblin took them to their first stop in the hastley moving cart, Selene's.

The goblin took her key, and inserted it in the hole. As the door opened, everyone except Selene and the goblin gasped. Harry thought it would be impossible to count how much money was in the cave, even with magic.

Ignoring the gasps from Harry, Hermione and the Weasleys, Selene slumbered over, putting lots of gold and silver coins into her pockets.

The next stop was the Weasleys cave, which seemed to have less and less money in it, every time Harry saw them take money from it. Mrs. Weasley took the little amount of two Galleons, six Sickles, and ten Knuts. From the corner of his eye, Harry was sure he could see Selene shaking her head slightly.

***

After getting almost all their school supplies, Harry, Hermione, and Selene went to the Apothcary's, while Ron said he would meet them in Flourish & Blotts. The little bell on the door rang as Hermione opened the door for Harry and Selene.

"Look who's here," whispered Harry to Hermione. Looking round, she saw Draco Malfoy, buying some bottles of Dragon's Blood.

When the shop-assistant handed him his bag, the plantium-haired boy turned around, towards the door. He sneered at them, but not at Selene. Harry thought that Malfoy probably thought that Selene wasn't with them. Harry glared at him, as Draco went past them out of the shop. But Selene was looking at him differently.

***

"Oooookay, I'm totally new to this. What the hell are we supposed to do?" pestered Selene. Malificent must have missed this in our 'talk', she thought.

The Weasleys, Harry, Hermione and Selene were all at King's Cross Station. They were all in front of the barrier, trying to get Selene to go through it.

"It's quite simple," said Fred. "All you do, is go through that wall." He pointed towards the barrier between platforms 9 and 10.

"Are you lot pulling my leg? That thing's solid brick."

"Just go," said Fred and George together.

"Alright then," said Selene, gripping her trolley with her suitcase and her eagle owl, who was sleeping merrily in its cage.

She ran towards the barrier, expecting to hit it. But if it was a joke, she wasn't going to spoil their laugh. "Any means necessary," is what Malificent had said, and Selene thought making them laugh was a good start for trust.

But instead of falling over and making her owl very angry, she went through the barrier, as if she was a ghost. There, in front of her, was a old-fashioned, red train which had the words 'Hogwarts Express' on its front.

Soon Harry, Fred, George, Hermione, Ginny, Ron and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley came through. "There," said Harry, grinning at her. "That wasn't so bad, was it?"

She grinned back. "I thought you were joking, I mean, who thought of going into a Muggle station, and then disappearing right in front of them? You could break 100's of rules that way!"

"You shouldn't of stayed with Hermione. You're beginning to sound like her."

The two of them walked in front, together. Selene could tell that the dark-haired boy was already thinking about things bigger than friendship.

At the back, unseen, Ginny Weasley nibbled her lip nervously. Her crush for Harry Potter had grown bigger and bigger as the years went by. He was becoming more handsome every year. In her case, Selene had barged right in, and by the look in his eyes, had stolen the heart of Harry Potter, the boy that Ginny thought she could only love.

In her third year, she used to day-dream about her and Harry as a couple. She found it sad now, but she couldn't help but day-dream every so often, even though she was sixteen.

She grimly followed Hermione, who had been a great friend to her since first year, as she had supported Ginny after what happened with Tom Riddle.

When the two girls boarded, Selene and Harry had already found a compartment. Eventually, Ron came in, and then Hermione and Ginny. Ginny shifted self-consiously in her second hand robes, occasionly glancing at Selene.

Hermione's nose was in a book, while Harry and Ron began to tell Selene nearly everything about Hogwarts. Ron just began on how weird Professor Trenwaly was, when Draco Malfoy and his 'friends' came into the compartment.

"Oh, look what the cat dragged in," said Ron.

"Is that so? At least I can afford a cat," drawled Malfoy. Ginny nibbled her lip nervously, and Ron's ears went pink.

"Say that again, Malfoy," he spat.

But Malfoy ignored Ron, all his attention was towards Selene.

"Staring problem, Malfoy?" asked Hermione, glaring at the Slytherin.

Malfoy, however, was still ignoring them. "Don't I know you from somewhere?" he asked Selene.

"I don't know, but anyway, I'm not allowed to speak to strangers," answered Selene.

Malfoy just smirked at her, and went out of the compartment, and with their usual grunt, Crabbe and Goyle followed.

After they had left, Harry and Hermione couldn't help but stare at Selene. Ron would, but he was trying desperatley to calm himself down.

***

Ayenia was in a compartment, unusually silent, listening to her Slytherin gang of friends gossip. Vanity Nymphia, her best friend, had noticed this.

"Hey, Annie, what's the matter? You're usually the first to start talking about boys. Are you ill again?"

Vanity's name was chosen very well. Her mother was a highly experienced Seer, and three months after her child was born, she peered into her beautifully-crafted crystal ball. The mist had swirled about, and then formed a twelve-year-old Vanyty, combing her fine blonde locks, gazing into a hand-held, golden mirror. Then at fifteen, sorting through her thousands of clothes, make-up, perfumes, jewelery, and body things, discarding hundreds of things, then going out and buying even more. Finally, there was Vanity, seventeen years old, graduating from Hogwarts, hair, clothes and make-up perfect, then running off to the nearest bathroom to re-aply her make-up.

Ayenia gazed into Vanity's black eyes, and still said nothing. Drusilla and Christina had stopped talking and looked over at them.

"I..." began Ayenia, but she swayed a bit, and fainted onto the seats.

***

As the day grew darker, and the cows and sheep disappeared, Hermione, Selene and Ginny went into a different compartment to get changed.

When Ron and Harry were alone, Harry asked Ron: "So, what do you think about Selene?"

Ron pulled his robes over his head, then said: "She's really nice. I feel really sorry for her, you know, 'bout her parents, but she seems like she's gotten over it. I'm sure you think of her as more of a friend, they way you kept on talknig to her."

"Yeah.....well," muttered Harry, his face flushing. He quickly pulled on his robes. They ate a few of the sweets that the lady with the trolley gave them. They began to talk about Quidditch and school and things like that. Five or ten minutes later, Hermione walked in.

"Have any of you seen Selene?" said Hermione, frantically.

"No, why?" asked Harry, beginning to panic.

"Ten minutes ago, she said she needed a walk. I thought she was lost, so can you two help me look for her in the other carriages? Ginny's already started."

Harry and Ron jumped up, and with Hermione, went out their carriage, looking for Selene. They split up, and Harry began looking at the back carriages.

He opened a door, and there was Selene, sitting, talking and laughing with someone Harry did not want to see.
