A response to a challenge by SatinValkyrie on her Live Journal:

Hermione looked at Ron as he walked across the common room towards her. Her stomach tightened as he stopped in front of her. Somehow... she knew that tonight would be the night. They had talked about this before, but they'd never gone further than a kiss.

Swallowing, and trying to combat her nervousness, she looked up into his eyes. To her surprise, he looked rather nervous too. He closed his eyes briefly and took a deep breath, then put his hands around her. He bent his head down, and she reached up. Their lips touched, and Hermione felt a shudder of delight run down her spine as he deepened the kiss. A moan escaped from her lips as she opened them, and he reached down to taste more of her.

He was so gentle, yet so strong; so kind, yet so dominating. The first time they had kissed, Hermione had been shocked by his forceful yet gentle love. She was so sure that he must have tried it on other girls - but she was the first. She wrapped her arms around his waist as Ron released the kiss, and leaned into his shoulder, breathing heavily.

Ron did not say a word as he ran a hand lazily down her back. Again she shuddered. He knew just how to get to her...

"Hermione," he whispered into her ear as they came apart again. She looked up at him, waiting for him to speak, knowing that it was about to come...

"Let's go, shall we?" he asked. He leaned down to kiss her again on the mouth then planted little kisses running down her neck to his throat. Hermione could tell that despite his eagerness to be with her more deeply than before he was reluctant to move. She pulled away from him.

Ron looked confused, puzzled. But Hermione's eyes looked happy. Her right hand slipped into his left, and she felt him take a sharp breath. But his eyes lit up again in the way that she loved. They walked together out of the common room, not noticing the eyes of the older students on them. The younger ones had already gone to bed, and although some fourth and fifth years were still awake, they didn't really notice in the same way.

Somehow, they both knew exactly where they were heading. Not the Astronomy Tower, where most couples went. This was a private thing, just between the pair of them. It seemed to take a lifetime to walk down the stone corridors to the empty classroom.

When Ron had closed the door behind them, he sent a spell at the torches hanging on the walls. They burst into flame, and somehow Hermione knew that he had prepared it - wanted to make it right. Then, they looked at each other. Somehow, Hermione's nervousness had gone.

The red haired boy walked back over to her, where she was now sitting on a desk. He put his arms around her and leaned up to kiss her warm mouth. He loved the way she always knew what to do to make him feel that wonderful warm sensation inside. She tasted like strawberry cheesecake, one of his favourite foods, but with a little bit extra. He did not hear the moan that escaped from her again, so lost was he in her, but when he mouth opened he immediately darted his tongue inside, searching.

He pushed gently forward on her, not meaning her any harm, supporting her with his arms. They leaned back over the long wooden desk, her hair over its surface as he kissed her with rapid little kisses. Each one sent a shudder through her body that made Ron feel warm inside. Somehow, they knew this was right.

Items of clothing fell to the floor, until they were left with nothing on. But Ron did not try to do anything. They lay there on the desk, just looking into the other's eyes. Ron was holding something in his hand even as he put an arm around Hermione with the other. He handed it to her, and she looked carefully at it.

A plain condom was what he had given her. For a moment she was stunned, but then she smiled. She had always known that her Ron would be careful. He never wanted to hurt her, always to make sure everything was sorted and perfect.

She unwrapped it, then reached for Ron. He guided her hand, and helped her to slip it lovingly over him. It was the first time she had ever touched him there and it made her nervous, but Ron's hand remained to keep her comfortable. It was somehow beautiful, thought the boy, putting arms around Hermione.

They came together slowly, building each other up for the moment... and then their worlds exploded into firey passion! Things were never the same after that.
