For Ever and For Always, Held In Your Arms

Ginny ran from the castle doors, tears streaming down her face. How could he? She ran further and further, she had to get away from the castle, away from him. She tripped and fell, tears pouring down her face, like rain.

She lay there for a few minutes, before picking herself up and running to the beach tree by the lake, where they used to sit. She curled up; arms wrapped around her legs, and let the tears fall. She tried not to think about what just happened.

Ginny was sitting by the warm fire in the common room, unable to fall asleep. All she had ever wanted since her first year was finally happening. She heard footsteps coming from the stairs of the boy's dormitory, and looked up to see Harry.

Harry, who was finally her boyfriend. He smiled at her and she smiled back. She moved over on the couch to let him sit. He put his hand on top of hers and smiled again, but this time in an uncertain way.

"Ginny", he said, "I think..."

Ginny looked at him, a feeling of pure dread rising from the pit of her stomach. No he wasn't.

"I think, well you see Voldemort's back, and I have to find him, I have to kill him. I don't want him to find you; I can't let him hurt you."

Ginny knew this was coming. She just wished it hadn't come so soon.

"Harry", she said leaping to her feet, "I'll come with you."

"Gin, I don't want you hurt, if you...well if something ever happened to you, I would never forgive myself," he whispered standing up, taking both her hands in his.

"Voldemort won't hurt me, only you will Harry, please."

"I'm sorry Ginny, I can't. When the war is over, I'll come back for you, I promise," he said dropping her hands and slowly walking back to his dormitory.

"But what if you don't?" she asked, the tears starting to fall. "What if something happens to you, what if you don't love me anymore?"

"I do love you, Ginny but I'd rather risk my life than yours." Then he disappeared up the steps.

Then she ran and now she was here at the tree. It was over, and her heart was broken.

"So it's over then."

She looked up to see Malfoy. Great. The last thing she needed was him here to taunt her.

"Go away Malfoy," she spat. "Just leave me alone."

He sat down beside her, and she glared at him.

Then he smiled and wiped away her tears with his hand. She broke down, she just cried and cried.

Draco wrapped his arms around her and held her close. He sat silently; just letting her cry until she had no tears left, comforting her by just being there. She looked up at him and he smiled a genuine smile.

"Why are you here?" she asked her voice barely above a whisper.

"Because I care."

And that's when she realized that this was all so much better, this all seemed right. She laid her head on Draco's chest and thought about how his arms held her softer. How he made her feel safer and loved. She felt protected from anything that might harm her, not in Harry's arms, but here in Draco's.

That's when she knew that Harry could have never given her this feeling: of comfort, of protection, of love. Harry could never hold her as softly as Draco was right now. Harry could never love her as much as she had loved him. Somehow, to Ginny it seemed Draco could.

She looked up again, and his eyes meet hers. Eyes full of concern but also of something else, love.

"How long?" she asked. "How long have you loved me for?"

"Forever," he replied, "and for always."
