Confession and Confusion

In Ginny's room...

"Ginny! What are we doing anyway?" Hermione asked sitting at the foot of her bed.

"Wait and see!" said Ginny as she pulled out a pair of Extendable Ears.

"What are we going to do?!" Hermione asked yet again.

"Well, to give you a hint, it has something to do with Ron!" Ginny smirked and stuck the Extendable Ears under her bedroom door and into Ron's.

"Now, all we have to is listen," so the two listened.

In Ron's room...

"Ron, what's up? Why are you so nervous?" Harry asked.

Ron paced around the room nervously, muttering something under his breath.

"Ron! Earth to Ron!" Harry yelled.

Ron jumped and looked at him.

"You don't have to bloody yell and I'm NOT nervous!" Ron snapped.

"Okay, okay Ron chill!" Harry put his hands up in alarm.

"I called you here because well--" Ron started.

"-- You like Hermione and you want to know what to do?" Harry finished.

Ron's mouth hung opened, but he blushed and nodded. Harry smiled and patted Ron on the back.

"Ron, all you need to do is be nice to Hermione, avoid fights about Viktor Krum, and then tell her!" Harry said.

"Okay, harry, I trust you. So anyway, did you here about the new Quidditch..." Ron said.

Back in Ginny's room...

Both girls took off their extendable ears.

"See, Hermione, now, what are you going to do?" asked Ginny facing the awestruck Hermione.

At first Hermione couldn't believe her ears, but then she smiled.

"Ginny, I have a perfect plan..." Hermione's smile then turned evil...

Downstairs, later that day...

Ron and Harry waited for the girls to come down so they could go for a walk. As they came down Ron Stared at Hermione dumbstruck. She was wearing the Weasley sweater, that she had now made a tank top, and a black mini skirt. Ginny came down behind her. What surprised Ron more was that both of the were wearing make-up! Hermione came up to Ron and crossed her arm with his. Ginny whispered something to harry and he nearly exploded with laughter.

"So, are we ready to go, Ronnie?" Hermione said pulling Ron outside, Ginny and Harry behind them.

"Uh... sure I guess..." Ron said staring at Harry who flinched and shrugged.

They started walking in silence; Hermione's arm still entwined with Ron's. Suddenly Hermione plucked up the courage to lean her head on Ron's chest. It felt so warm and relaxing. Ron was completely red as they entered a park. Ginny pulled Harry into the park maze and Ron pulled Hermione to follow, but then she wrapped her arms around him. Ron gave up and decided to take a seat, which she accepted with pleasure. So they sat there in silence with Hermione leaning against Ron. Ron shook his head in disbelievingly. What was up with Hermione and why was she acting so... affectionate all of a sudden?

He turned to her and asked, "Hermione, what's up? Why are you acting so... well, I don't know the right word?"

Hermione just smiled lovingly and hugged him, leaving him again dumbstruck.

"You're so funny, Ronald!" Hermione said, smiling with laughter.

"Ronald?! Okay, Hermione, what's wrong?" Ron exclaimed standing up.

Hermione looked up at him and turned serious.

"You still haven't noticed, have you? You stupid prat!" Hermione said angrily.

"What haven't I noticed?" Ron asked scratching his head.

"Let me spell it out for you: Ex-ten-da-ble-Ears!" Hermione shouted flushing.

"What about extendable--" Ron stopped and gasped.

"Yep, that's right! Extendable Ears!" Hermione said triumphantly.

"You-- you heard the conversation?" Ron asked blushing beet red.

"Yes, Ronnie..." Hermione said looking down.

"So, um, you know how I feel about you?" Ron said slowly, breathing fast.

"Yes, okay!" Hermione said rolling her eyes.

"And... do you feel the same way?" Ron asked looking at her.

"Do I--" Hermione stopped, looked at him and nodded.

Ron could have jumped of joy, but this was the time for something else...

"So, where do we go from here?" asked Ron.

Hermione looked at him and walked closer.

"Maybe we should..." started Hermione softly.

"... Stay us?" Ron finished asking.

They both smiled and nodded. Ron took Hermione's hand.

"Hermione, after all we've been through..." Ron whispered.

"Yes?" Hermione asked not breaking eye contact.

"Will you-- will you let me kiss you... on the cheek I mean?" Ron added quickly.

"Of course," Hermione smiled her eyes glittering.

Ron lowered his head to kiss her cheek, but Hermione took his face into her hands and kissed him softly on the lips. Ron kissed her back and they drew apart.

"Hermione..." Ron said softly.

"Ron, look, I'm sorry! If you just wanted a kiss on the cheek, then, I'm sorry," Hermione started to cry.

Ron took her in his arms.

"Hermione, don't cry, why would I be sorry?" Hermione looked up as Ron said that.

"Yes, Hermione, it wasn't a joke, I love you..." He bent down and kissed her softly while Harry and Ginny watched from behind a tree.

"Oh, Ginny, I can't believe that would happen! I expected a fight!" Harry looked at the new couple.

"Yes, that happens, but how can Hermione love him as much as I love you?" Ginny covered her mouth and looked down, blushing.

Harry smiled.

"It looks like there are two new couples in Hogwarts," and Harry did what Ron had done before, to Hermione, and kissed Ginny.
