Hermione waited patiently in Transfiguration class for her graded essay back. When Professor McGonagall made it to her desk she placed her graded test face down.
Hermione instantly flipped the test over and as she did so she nearly fell out her chair in shock. The Test was covered in red marks. The grade was 39 questions right out of 150 questions!
"Uh Professor!" Hermione called.
"Yes?" she asked.
"This test must not be mine because I don't remember answering this."
"It has your name and it's in your handwriting. So it is obvious it's your paper, Miss Granger," said Professor McGonagall.
The bell rang and Hermione instantly left the classroom crying. She ran to the library and cried all over a table. She never ever even got an answer wrong in her life but missing 111 questions in one essay was almost impossible.
Herminoe instantly felt like she was being watched so she lifted her head up. She then heard two people talking a few feet away. "Just take the essay when she is not looking. You'll get an easy 100% for sure!"
"But Draco, she's crying!" the other person said.
"So just do it!" Draco yelled back.
Hermione got up from her table and went to where the voices were coming from. She went behind the bookshelf and saw Draco Malfoy ordering Terry Boot around. Hermione put her hands on her hips and said, "Terry don't listen to him!"
Terry looked at Hermione and at Draco who were both giving the other one death glares. Then as quick as a flash Terry was gone.
"What do you want, Mudlood?" Draco asked.
"My real essay back! The one you took!" Hermione yelled back.
"Well it's my test now!" Draco said and walked out of the library.
"Oh he'll be sorry! He will wish he never took my essay!" Hermione yelled to no one in particular.

The next day during lunch Dumbledore stood up and instantly everyone in the Great Hall went quiet. "I am sorry to say that we will not have the Weird Sisters singing at our next Yule Ball." Several people groaned but Dumbldedore continued. "Instead of the Weird Sisters I decided to have karaoke." Then several people cheered. "If you wish to sing at the Yule Ball please come forward and sign your name. We will tell you the time of the Yule Ball you will be singing in about a few days."
About ten or so girls ran up to sign the forum. Hermione got up from the table. "Hermionne you're not really thinking of singing are you?" Ron asked.
"Oh you'll see." And she ran up to where the girls were.
When Hermione finally got to the forum she wrote in her most sloppy handwriting ever the name, "Draco Malfoy." She went back to her seat with a smug expression on her face.
"Say Hermione what song are you singing then?" Harry asked.
"Oh I am not singing," Hermione said.
"Then who is?" Ron asked.
As if answering Ron's question, Dumbledore stood up again with the forum in his hands. "The following people will be singing at this year's Yule Ball, Lavender Brown, Parvati and Padma Patil, Pansy Parkinson, Ginny Weasly, and Draco Malfoy."
Everyone in the Great Hall was silent looking at Draco Malfoy. He had just spit out his pumpkin juice all over the table and was glaring at the whole room looking for someone. Suddenly he saw her. Mudblood. He knew she did this. Draco glared at her and was just about to open his mouth to argue when Dumbledore continued on talking. "But I dare say Mister James Bond and Mister Ben Dover can't sing because of some...err...difficulties."
Everyone in the Great Hall broke the silence and was laughing very hard except for Draco Malfoy. He had been set up to sing in front of the whole school and the worst part was he knew who had done this...Mudblood!

Draco couldn't eat. He was too busy glaring at Hermione. He could tell she couldn't eat either because she too was glaring at him. Both of them didn't dare take their glares off each other. Finally she got up from the table not taking her eyes off Draco. Draco got up from his table and followed her out of the Great Hall. Once away from the Great Hall Draco Malfoy yelled after her running figure. "Mudblood you will regret you ever did this!"
She stopped running turned around and looked at Draco with a smirk on her face. "Oh yeah, Malfoy? What are you going to do? At least I don't have to ruin my reputation in front of the whole school at the Yule Ball. At least I don't have to sing." She started snickering behind her hand.
"Who says I am going to sing, Mudblood?" he asked her.
"Oh you'll see, ferret. I just happen to have discovered a singing charm. Let's just see what happens when I let it slip and accidentally put the spell on you. You'll probably be singing the most embarrassing Muggle song I can think of."
Draco's face turned white. He wasn't about to give up though. He would never ever bow down to her levels. He would fight.
Harry came out of the Great Hall just at that time to see Draco and Hermione still glaring at each other. "Hey Hermione come on!" Harry called to her.
"Coming, Harry!" Hermione said while chasing after them. Draco watched as Harry whispered something in Hermione's ear a few hundred feet away and to his utter astonishment, Hermione blushed. "Oh Harry!" Hermione said while wrapping her arms around him.
"Well..." Draco said to himself, "If I am going to ruin my reputation at this Yule Ball it wouldn't hurt to ruin hers too." He smirked.

Hermione looked at herself in the mirror. Everything was too good to be true. Harry Potter asked her to the Yule Ball and she got the most gorgeous dress robe she had ever seen. She also was going to get back at that Malfoy tonight.
She thought she looked very different in the mirror. A good different. She had flattened her hair down again and put Muggle make up on. All she needed now was the necklace Harry got her a few days ago. She walked to her trunk and laying right on top of several cloaks was a beautiful pearl necklace. It went perfect with her sparkling white dress robes.
There was a knock on the girls' dormitory door and Hermione opened it. Ginny Weasly was grinning from ear to ear. "Wow Hermione!" she said.
"Thanks, Gin. You look great too," Hermione said.
Ginny was wearing a forest-green dress robe that had several different gold yellow sparkles all over it. "So who are you taking to the Ball?" asked Ginny.
Hermione gulped. She didn't know how best to say this without hurting Ginny. After all Ginny had the largest crush on Harry. "Oh well I don't know how to say this Gin but..."
"Oh let me guess!" she said in a cheery tone, "You're taking Harry Potter!"
"Yes," Hermione said.
"THAT'S GREAT!"
"Really?" asked Hermione.
"Yeah you two make a cute couple. I am going with Colin. He might be annoying sometimes but when he's not, he is quite charming," she said with a huge grin. "Well, come on. Harry's waiting for you."
"Oh okay," she said and followed Ginny out of the dormitory.

Draco Malfoy waited patiently for Pansy Parkinson in the Slytherin Common Room. He was so nervous, not really because he was waiting for Pansy but because what would happen later that night. He had to sing in front of the whole school. If he didn't Hermione would choose a song for him, an extremely embarrassing song.
He had a plan though, but his greatest fear was when he had to actually do the plan. He would have to ruin Hermione Granger's reputation and the only way to do that would be to actually sing the embarrassing song to her.
Pansy came walking in the Slytherin Common Room wearing bright blue dress robes. They somewhat reminded Draco of his fourth year when Hermione wore bright blue dress robes. He was speechless when he saw Hermione in fourth year and he always mentally slapped himself whenever he remembered that moment. Tonight however he won't be speechless. Oh no he won't.
"Are you ready, Draco?" asked Pansy.
"Yeah, let's go," he said and they walked down to the Great Hall.
Once inside the Great Hall Draco Malfoy found a table and sat down with Pansy. "Draco don't you want to dance?"
Draco didn't answer he was too busy thinking what to do.
"Are you nervous because you have to sing tonight?" she said, "Don't worry, Dracky. I have to sing too."
Draco hated it whenever she said 'Dracky'. In some strange way it made him sick to his stomach. He looked up at the stage he would be in a few minutes making a fool of himself. He saw that Weasly girl singing a Muggle song he didn't recognize. Heck he didn't recognize any Muggle song!
Once she was done singing her song, Snape went onto the stage and announced the next singer. "Now please give a round of applause to Miss Pansy Parkinson." Several of the Slytherin boys did wolf whistles as Pansy got onto the stage. She started singing the most stupid song Draco ever heard in his life. Her voice was completely out of tune too.
"I know I may be young, but I've got feelings too.
And I need to do what I feel like doing.
So let me go and just listen."
Several girls started groaning when they heard her sing.
"All you people look at me like I'm a little girl.
Well did you ever think it be okay for me to step into this world."
Draco looked at her. She was completely the worst singer Draco ever heard and, the lyrics were just as horrible. What rubbish!
"Always saying little girl don't step into the club.
Well I'm just trying' to find out why cause dancing's what I love."
At this she started swishing her hips back and forth. Draco didn't like the sound of what came next.
"Get it get it, get it get it WHOOOA
Get it get it, get it get it WHOOOOOA Do you like it
Get it get it, get it get it OOOHHHH This feels good."
Draco covered his face with his hands. He heard several people snickering a few tables away. He knew pretty well that they were probably the goody-Gryffindors.
"I know I may come off quiet, I may come off shy.
But I feel like talking, feel like dancing when I see this guy." Pansy then pointed to Draco sitting at the table.
Draco felt his face getting hot and red. People all around him were laughing or snickering. Couldn't she ever leave him alone for one second?
"What's practical is logical. What the hell, who cares?
All I know is I'm so happy when you're dancing there.
I'm a slave for you. I cannot hold it; I cannot control it.
I'm a slave for you. I won't deny it; I'm not trying to hide it."
Draco fell out his chair in surprise. What the heck was she playing at? Oh no, oh no, this cannot be happening! She's singing a slut song for sure! Draco heard about this from his cousin in America. She said there was this one slut called Brittany Smears or something that would throw herself at guys every chance she got. Ugh! How revolting, but Draco did have to remind himself that Pansy did sound quite a lot like this Smears girl.
"Baby, don't you want to, dance upon me,
I just want dance next to you
To another time and place.
Baby, don't you want to, dance upon me,
Are you ready
Leaving behind my name, my age.
Lets go"
Draco decided this was the perfect time to go. He ran out the Great Hall while several people laughed and pointed at him. He didn't care, anything to get away from her.
He went to the garden and sat on a small bench. He didn't need anyone to tell him because he knew his plan would just make him look like an even more complete fool. Screw the plan! He didn't care if Hermione ruined his reputation it was all ready ruined. Everyone thought he was dating Pansy Smears which was just as bad as singing an embarrassing song in front of the whole school to Hermione.
***
Hermione hid her smirk behind her hand as she watched Draco run outside to the garden. "Hermione want to dance?" Harry asked her with a grin.
"Of course," she smiled back at him.
They got to the middle of the room and started slow dancing. Everyone was looking at them. They weren't dancing at all to the beat of Pansy's horrible song but to their own beat.
"Hermione are you really going to do this to Malfoy?" Harry asked Hermione
"Of course Harry!"
"But I mean he has all ready been completely embarrassed tonight does he need more embarrassment?"
"Harry are you reconsidering my plan? I never thought I would see the day when Harry put his foot down to protect Draco Malfoy."
"I am not protecting him in any way, Hermione. I just think it's a bit overdone that's all."
"Overdone? Oh Harry you don't understand! You are not the one who got a low score on an essay because of him." Hermione said.
"Hermione, everything isn't about essays, you know?" he told her and left her standing in the middle of the room. Harry had left her to go get some punch. But he never came near her again that night.
Hermione didn't know why but she knew that what Harry had said was right. She couldn't just embarrass him like that. That would be the kind of thing Draco Malfoy would do to her, not what she would do to him. She shuddered at the feeling. She had been acting like Draco Malfoy all this time. She needed to start acting like herself.
So Hermione Granger made her way to the garden where a very nervous Draco Malfoy was. She walked down a path and sure enough he was sitting on a small bench with his face in his hands. He was staring at the ground and didn't seem to notice Hermione till she sat on the bench with him.
"Hey," Hermione said.
Draco looked up at her. Hermione noticed he was pale white again and he looked extremely nervous. "Hello," he choked out, "What are you doing here?"
"Came to see you. Are you all right?" she asked.
"Since when do you care I am all right?" he snarled.
"Well, I was just thinking about you singing and, well, I don't want you to do it," Hermione mumbled.
"Too bad, Granger. I still have to do it and I don't even know a song to sing. Everyone in the Great Hall will just laugh at me again."
"I think I have a song you could sing." She smiled at him.
"Oh really? That really embarrassing song? Is it by Brittany Smears?" he asked her.
"It's Brittany Spears, Malfoy and no it's not by her. Actually I find this song kind of cool."
"So what's the song?" Draco asked.

Hermione waited at one of the close tables to the stage. She was so nervous. It was strange really, Hermione being nervous at what Draco Malfoy had to do.
She saw Snape get onto the stage a few seconds later and said, "And last but not least, Mister Draco Malfoy!"
Hermione saw in the corner of her eye Pansy jumping up and down yelling, "Go Draco!" Then she heard several snickers and laughs mostly coming from her house, Gryffindor.
Draco got onto the stage and took his wand out of his pocket. Hermione did the same thing. Draco put the wand to his lips like a Muggle microphone and Hermione whispered, "Ozzy Osbourne, Gets Me Through." With a swish of Hermione's wand toward Draco, he had suddenly started dancing. Several girls started screaming. Then before anyone knew it Draco was singing.
"I'm not the kind of person you think I am
I'm not the anti-christ or the iron man."
Everyone in the hall was quiet. All wanting to hear more of the song. Draco Malfoy had got off the stage and started dancing in the middle of the Great Hall. Hermione noticed people were crowding around him trying to get a better look at him. Several small fourth years were on their tiptoes trying to see over the crowd.
"I have a vision that I just can't control
I feel I've lost my spirit and sold my soul
Got no control."
He started walking around the front of the stage. People were cheering for Draco as he did a flip in the air and landed right on his feet.
"I try to entertain you the best I can
I wish I'd started walking before I ran.
But I still love the feeling I get from you
I hope you'll never stop cause it gets me through yeah
It gets me through yeah."
He found Hermione sitting by the table. He went over to her and smiled at her. A real life smile as if saying thanks.
"The feelings that I hide behind
Sometimes reality's unkind
The nightmares stalk for me at night
I dread the long and lonely nights."
He sang to her. Hermione looked anywhere but at Draco. She could feel everyone watching Draco and her. Hermione wouldn't admit it but she felt her face getting hot.
"I'm not the kind of person you think I am
I'm not the anti-christ or the iron man
But I still love the feeling I get from you
I hope you'll never stop cause it gets me through yeah."
Without knowing what was happening Draco Malfoy had pulled Hermione to her feet and started dancing. Hermione didn't know if this was the music that was making him dance with Hermione or what. Everyone was watching them so Hermione had nothing else to do but dance with him. Finally the music slowed down a bit and Draco was still singing.
"I'm just trying live yeah
I'm just trying live yeah
I'm just trying live yeah
I'm just trying live yeah."
They both gave one last move and then the music stopped and the whole Great Hall erupted with cheers. Draco looked over at Hermione and was smiling again. He grabbed Hermione's hand and amazingly they made it out of the Great Hall back to their bench in the garden.
"So are you thinking about singing as a career, Malfoy?" Hermione joked around.
"No not really singing but who knows maybe dancing," he said.
Hermione giggled. "Dancing?" she asked him.
"You heard me. I love to dance and from the sound of the crowd in there they loved how I danced too," Draco said pointing to the Great Hall. As he pointed he noticed the music inside the building had changed and started to play a slow song. He got up from the bench and reached out his hand.
"What?" she asked him.
"Would you like to dance with me?" he asked her while grinning at her.
"Sure." She got up from the bench and took Draco's hand in hers. Draco's other hand rested on Hermione's hips. Hermione trembled at Draco's touch but calmed down after awhile as the music slowed down a bit more.
After a few minutes Hermione finally got an idea. "Malfoy, what about Pansy?"
"What about her?" he asked.
"Oh never mind."
Draco smirked, "Well what about Potter?"
"What about Harry?"
They both laughed. "Malfoy, I never imagined in my wildest dreams I would be dancing with you," Hermione said.
"I have imagined it a few times," he said.
Hermione looked up at him and there eyes locked. They just stood there staring at each other. "What do you mean?" Hermione asked not taking her eyes off him.
"Every Yule Ball you seem to look prettier than the last. I would watch you from afar as you danced in either Crumb's or Potter's or Weasly's arms imagining what it would be like dancing with the most beautiful girl I ever seen."
"Yeah you only think I am pretty is because I put on a nice dress and have make up on," she said.
Draco released his hand from Hermione's and cupped her cheek. "You always looked beautiful to me. You are beautiful without the make up because deep down inside I know you are the smart, caring, sweet, and innocent. Nothing like me I guess?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
Hermione giggled again. "Yeah, I guess you could say I am everything you aren't." Draco put his hand down from Hermione's cheek and put it around Hermione's waist with his other hand. Hermione wrapped her arms around his neck and they both smiled at each other.
"I guess that's why I am dancing with you," Draco said.
