Prologue

The horn of the Hogwarts Express blasted as it pulled away from the station on the sunny morning of September first. Glory Hudson and Onnada Holmes strode down the corridor, Discmans in hand. Glory was blasting her favourite band, Good Charlotte, and Onnada hers, Pink Floyd. They were both pure blood witches, but had grown up in a Muggle neighbourhood. They had many Muggle friends, and of course Muggle things, like Discmans. They hugged a quick hello with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny who they had met in their fifth year when they transferred from another magic school in Canada. Luckily the both of them, being best friends, were not separated by the move because of the fact that they are cousins. So when the family decided to come to England, they both came together. A little further down, they met up with Onnada's boyfriend, Cade Owens, who was on his way to see the others. She gave him a quick kiss before letting him go meet up with Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny.

The two girls continued down the corridor, until they found an empty compartment. They collapsed on the seat and raided Onnada's bag for something to keep them occupied on the long journey. They turned the bag upside-down and emptied the contents onto the seat. There were some Hogwarts books and some notepaper. They decided to get an early start on their new books. As they read away they could hear the squeaky wheels of the candy trolley growing nearer. The sound stopped and the compartment door opened.

"Got a special delivery for you ladies," said the woman. She pulled a bundle of Sugarquills out from under the cart and handed them to Glory. There was a note attached to them that said: 'A special delivery for a very special lady...' which was written in very familiar handwriting. Glory grabbed a quill from the bundle, and then handed it to Onnada who also grabbed one.

Onnada and Glory sucked the ends of their pens as they idly returned to their books. They made eye contact. Glory made a look and Onnada raised an eyebrow. They both snickered. Smiling, Onnada began to lick her pen noisily and Glory kept sticking her pen in farther and then dragging it out slowly. If a boy were present he may become excited, or at least intrigued. Luckily, the door slid open and a boy slipped in to find the girls provocatively sucking on their quills. The two girls stopped, stared at each other, looked at the boy, and then turned back taking the quills out of their mouths with a certain measure of shame.

"Having fun?" asked the tall, handsome boy casually as he sat down next to Glory and slipped an arm around her shoulders.

"Yes," said Glory, leaning into his chest and putting the quill back in her mouth to suck on. "Actually we were having a wonderful time. Thank you, by the way, for the Sugarquills."

"Yes," piped Onnada, "thank you, Draco."

"Not a problem. Least of all for two lovely ladies such as yourselves," he replied, smiling with his usual charm and poise. He turned his smile with warmth to Onnada, before lowering his glaze to Glory and smiling yet warmer. She smiled back; quill already dislodged from her lips, and leaned up, planting a sugared kiss on Draco.

Getting up and slipping out the door Onnada remarked, "Ok guys, I'm outie, I've got lips of my own to find!" Onnada closed the door behind her only to hear books and papers being tossed to the floor as the lovers opted to do more than just study while they were alone together.

Chapter I

Onnada smirked to herself as she walked down the long corridor. She could hear the other students talking loudly and excitedly about the coming year, and all the trouble they could cause. She sighed in irritation as she walked past a compartment of particularly loud first years. But over the excited newcomers she could hear some familiar voices: Ron, Harry and Hermione. She leaned her head into the source of the voices and smiled to see her three friends enjoying (well, sort of) some Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. Ron seemed to have just eaten a particularly nasty one cause he had his head out the window and was spitting and swearing as Hermione and Harry laughed to themselves. She had just said "Hey guys," when she was joined in the doorway by Ginny who looked shocked and amused.

"What is it?" asked Harry, making room for her next to him. Ginny sat down and slowly turned to face him.

"I've just been scarred for life," she said, stifling a laugh.

"What do you mean? What happened?" he pushed.

"They should make a rule that these seats should only be used for sitting!" she said. Then the doorway slid open and Draco and Glory entered looking mutually ruffled.

"Try knocking next time Weasley!" said Draco in irritation, trying to smooth his hair and sporting an array of pink oval shapes on his lips. "Stupid girl," he muttered to himself. Glory straightened out her blouse, ran a hand through her long, strawberry blonde hair, and threw a glance at Draco. Ginny snorted, trying to hold in her laughter.

"Having fun Draco?" asked Harry coolly.

"Nothing you'll ever know about, Potter!" Draco snapped, his cheeks flushing slightly under his cold glare. "I'm going to find Crabbe and Goyle," he said, and quickly left. Glory stepped in, closed the door behind her and leaned against the wall.

"So, what's up?" she asked looking around.

"Why don't you ever stick up for us?" Hermione demanded suddenly.

"What?" asked Glory, taken aback.

"Draco just completely shot down Ginny and Harry," she said.

"Well, Ginny did walk in without knocking!" Glory replied.

"That's not the point! You two never defend us when Malfoy insults us!" said Hermione.

"I can't very well shoot my boyfriend down for everything he says! Half the time I think he's joking!"

"Yeah!" piped up Onnada. "He's really nice once you get to know him!"

Now it was Harry's turn to join in. "We've gotten to know him thanks, as much as we'd care to."

"You take his side just because he's a good snogger!" shot Hermione.

Glory gasped angrily, "Come on," she said to Onnada before throwing a glare at Hermione, "obviously we're not welcome here." With that she opened the door and stormed out.

Onnada got up, pushed Cade's hands away, and left the room silently. Glory stormed down the hall looking for Draco.

*But he'll be with Crabbe and Goyle, damn!* she thought. She leaned back against the nearest wall and crossed her arms. A hand on her shoulder startled her and she turned to see Draco smiling down at her, all traces of lipstick gone, and Crabbe and Goyle smiling dumbly behind him.

"What wrong?" he asked, his expression changing to concern.

"It's nothing. It's just something Hermione said," said Glory looking down and focusing on Draco's chest, as it was level with her eyes.

"What did she say?" Draco asked, his concern turning to anger.

"Nothing. It's just, nothing," she said putting her hand on his side and resting her forehead on his chest.

"Don't worry, we'll deal with the Mudblood and her friends," he said nodding to Crabbe and Goyle for support.

"No!" Glory said sternly, stepping back and staring into Draco's eyes. "You won't! You guys never get along! I'm always forced to choose sides! Stay away from them. All of you!" she said, pointedly glancing at the two boys behind Draco.

"But-" Draco began,

"No. No buts."

"But, Potter?!"

"Yes! Yes Potter! And Weasley! Both of them! All of them! Come on Draco, don't hate simply because your father does! You're not a third year anymore!" she fumed again. Then she turned and marched back down the hallway, leaving Draco angry and confused.

Glory stormed down the hall, narrowly missing Onnada, who dodged out of the way. Feeling even more confused, Onnada followed after her friend.

"Found Draco didn't you? I take it he was being an ass again. Ever the vessel of his fathers hate and prejudice."

Glory swung open the door to their compartment and plopped herself down on the seat,

"Lock it," she said, picking up a quill and sucking on it angrily. Onnada closed and locked the door before picking up a Sugarquill for herself.

"Well, he was raised to be a Malfoy! You've only been going out for a year, give it time! He can be reformed! And if not maybe you can try going out with Crabbe or Goyle" Onnada said smiling evilly. Glory glared at her, then began to laugh and gave a little disgusted shudder. A tap at the door startled them both.

"Go away, Draco," said Glory.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear that," came a muffled, feminine reply. The two girls exchanged glances, and Onnada got up and opened the door. Ginny peeked in.

"May I come in?"

"Sure," said Glory.

"Thanks. I just wanted to apologize for walking in on you. I should have knocked. Friends?" Ginny held out her arms.

Glory hugged her and smiled, "Of course! I was never angry. That was Draco. What a stupid thing to get mad over anyway!"

"Yes. And we will try to hold back Draco," said Onnada

"Yeah. I've just had a talk with him. He was ready to take down all of you, but I stopped him. Hopefully..." said Glory, eyes widening. The three girls jumped up and out the door to make sure that Harry, Ron and Hermione weren't a pile of hexed students on the floor.

Chapter II

They arrived at the station a short time later and the students stepped out onto the platform.

"Firs' years this way!" bellowed a familiar voice; Hagrid was rounding up the first years for their boat trip across the lake. Cade, Glory Onnada and Ginny saw Harry, Ron and Hermione go over to say 'Hi'.

"I wish that we'd never gotten in that stupid fight with Hermione," said Onnada.

"I'll talk to her," said Ginny. Then she walked over to Hermione. The two girls talked for a moment, then Ginny motioned for the girls and Cade to join them.

"I guess if Ginny can forgive you, then I can too," said Hermione. "But you really have to stick up to Draco. He'll listen to you."

"I'll try," said Glory.

"Speak of the Devil," said Onnada, nodding her head in the direction of the train. Draco was just stepping out onto the platform with Crabbe and Goyle at his side. He seemed to notice that someone was staring at him and his eyes flicked up and met with Glory's and she looked away quickly.

"What's wrong?" asked Hermione.

"She told Draco off," said Onnada. Harry and Ron both snorted with laughter.

"You did?" asked Hermione.

"I...guess. I mean, I told him to stay away from you all or else," she said. Ron and Harry were now keeled over with laughter. Glory kept her back turned to Draco and continued to talk with her friends.

"Is he looking this way?" she asked.

"Yeah," Onnada replied as she glanced over Glory's shoulder.

"Laugh! Pretend we just said something really funny and make sure he sees you smile!" said Ginny. Glory began to giggle loudly and smile widely, turning her head slightly so that Draco could see her face.

"I wish you could see the look on his face," said Onnada.

"Why? What does he look like?"

"Vacant," replied Onnada.

"Doesn't he always?" said Ron. Harry and Cade both snickered.

"So Harry, how is it going at Sirius' house?" asked Glory.

"It's good. Better than living with the Dursleys," he said.

"It must be hard living there alone. And with so many things to remind you of him, being his house," said Onnada.

"Not really," said Harry, "and Ron, Hermione and Ginny were there almost every day.

"Oh really?" said Onnada. "So Ginny, did you see Harry's room?" Ginny went bright red and bit her lip, but didn't answer.

"Yes, she did," said Hermione. "She even spent the night in there a few times." Ginny went brighter red, and this time Harry joined her. Onnada winked at Ginny.

"Come on, let's go get into the carriages," Onnada said, and a short ride later they arrived in front of Hogwarts.

"Come on, come on everyone! Lets get ready for the sorting ceremonies," said Professor McGonagall as she ushered students into the school. Hermione and Ron helped get the younger Gryffindors in order. Everyone started getting settled at his or her house tables. Glory and Onnada sat down at the Ravenclaw table. Glory sat facing the Slytherin table and Onnada sat facing the Gryffindor table, Cade's house. Glory saw Draco take a seat at his house table, but much to her surprise he did not sit with Crabbe and Goyle, but rather on his own at an emptier part of the table. For a moment Glory felt guilty over how sad Draco looked. But after remembering what he had said about her friends, she decided to let him fret about it a little longer.

Everyone around them was talking about all the exciting things they did that summer. Neville had an especially good summer; his parents had made a full recovery, and came home to him. The sorting ceremony went surprisingly fast, which Harry was happy about. He hadn't eaten anything since leaving Sirius's house that afternoon. Just as they had started the feast, an owl swooped in and landed in front on Dumbledore. He removed the letter from the owl's leg, read it, nodded a few times, and then wrote a quick reply. This happened two more times during dinner. They finished the feast and soon everyone was heading up to bed. Ron and Hermione got up to lead their first years to the Gryffindor tower. Harry, Ginny and Cade went with them. Glory and Onnada got up, also deciding to go to bed, and headed towards the Ravenclaw tower. They got to the bottom of the stairs when Glory felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Can I talk to you?" asked Draco.

"Ummm," she said, glancing over at Onnada.

"I'll go to bed and leave you to talk," said Onnada.

"Oh... all right," said Glory, and then turned back to Draco.

"Are you mad at me?" he asked.

Glory laughed. "Well, yes. A little," she said.

"Well... can you not be mad at me?" he asked. She laughed and walked towards Draco leaning in and resting her forehead on his shoulder.

"You have to understand that I am friends with Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny no matter how much you hate them. When you fight with them it only puts me in the middle. Please try to get along with them. Not even 'get along', just... ignore them. Don't start things," she said. Draco just groaned.

"Please try," she whispered and kissed him on the corner of the mouth.

"Goodnight," she said and turned to walk up the stairs, but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to him. He leaned down and whispered 'Sorry' quickly before kissing her, grabbing her around the waist and pulling her extremely close to him. She put her arms around his neck and began to brush one hand through his hair. She tilted her head to one side as he began to kiss her neck, then he rested his head on her shoulder.

"You should go to bed," he said.

"So should you."

He kissed her once more before she turned and walked up the stairs. She strode dreamily into her dorm room where Onnada was already in bed reading. She looked Glory up and down, noting that her pink lipstick, which was bright as ever after dinner was now gone, that the top few buttons of her blouse were open, and it was slipping off her shoulder.

"Made up with Draco did you?"

"Yep."
