Author's Note:
I was driving in the car with my mother and we were listening to The Lion King CD and the idea for this just *popped* into my head. I wrote it in a sort of small amount of time, but I think I did at least an okay job with it. I'm not very good at writing romance, but I tried, I really did! Please review and read (opposite order, hopefully) if only to tell me how overdone this idea and how cheesy and badly written it was!

"Ron, Ron, you won't believe it!" Hermione collapsed into a chair in front of a library table. "Just look out the window, Ronald Weasley!"

Ron peered out the window, and turned back to Hermione, curious as to what was ailing her this time. Glancing out the window, and seeing nothing out of the ordinary, he turned back to Hermione and placed the back of his hand against her forehead.

"Are you feeling okay?" Ron asked, prompting Hermione to open her eyes with a start and nearly glare at him.

She jumped out of her seat to look out of the window, pulling Ron with her. She jabbed her finger viciously at the window frame. Staring angrily at the picture before them, Hermione snorted in fury. Ron looked out the window again, to see Harry and a girl walking near the lake. After squinting his eyes momentarily, he could see that the girl was Lavender. With a confused expression evident, Ron turned to Hermione again.

"Yeah...so? Is it too late for him to be out, or something?" Ron hoped this wasn't why, as it was barely twilight.

"I can see what's happening," Hermione said warily.

"What?" Ron asked curiously.

"And they don't have a clue!" she said, waving her arm around, to emphasize her point.

"Who?!" a hint of anger was apparent in Ron's tone, being left out isn't the best feeling, as you probably know.

"They'll fall in love, and here's the bottom line," Hermione said as she turned to Ron, pushing him lightly, to get the information pounded into his skull. "Our Trio's down to two."

"Oh." Ron let the information process slightly before his eyes lit up completely, as the meaning arrived.

"The sweet caress of twilight, there's magic in the air!" Hermione let sarcasm creep undetected into her voice. "And with all these romantic happenings, disaster's in the air."

Peering out the window at the sweet scene laid out before them, a sigh escaped from Hermione's lips. Ron contemplated the meaning slowly, and just what his own thoughts were.

--

Lavender giggled at Harry and she looked down at the ground, still laughing slightly. Harry stood before her nonplussed, his hands set defiantly on his waist. Just one glance at Harry set Lavender off. With his mussed hair and his cute too-small glasses, Harry was just different; from anybody. He was obviously a sweet, caring boy, who was fast becoming a man, and so many responsibilities lay upon his shoulders. She chanced a quick glance at Harry, but she just giggled at him once more, his confused expression was so adorable.

Turning away from Harry, she moved towards the lake with slow, cautious grace. He followed her, watching carefully. When she reached the edge of the lake, Lavender sat upon the grass, and looked towards the setting sun. As he drew close, Harry slowly sat next to her, but instead of facing towards the beautiful sun, he turned his head slightly to watch Lavender.

Can you feel the love tonight?

The peace the evening brings.

The world, for once, in perfect harmony,

With all its living things.

Lavender turned to Harry, her face inches from his. Inside Harry's head, he felt a turbulent of emotions race around. As the wind blew through the trees, and the leaves rustled, a beautiful girl at his side, Harry felt as peaceful as he had ever been in his life. The sun threw its remaining rays on Lavender's gentle features, and Harry could feel in his heart that she was honestly the most beautiful creature on the planet.

But then, just as Lavender leaned towards Harry, he turned away, the thoughts once more abundant and confusing. His escapades of heroism were well known and plentiful, but that wasn't his entire life. No one but he, Ron, and Hermione knew how close he had come to the temptation that so many thought impossible. If Ron and Hermione had not have been there with him, helping him and leading him, Harry most assuredly would have given himself to Voldemort. Wants and needs that Voldemort had claimed to be able to provide had almost led Harry on the red carpet to Hell. Everyday Harry thanked the Lord for Ron and Hermione.

So many things to tell her,

But how to make her see,

The truth about my past,

Impossible;

She'd turn away from me!

Peering at Harry curiously, Lavender could tell that there was something that Harry wasn't telling her, and it did not please her at all. She knew how wonderful he could be, and although she knew that he wasn't perfect ('no one is,' as she often told herself while looking in the mirror in the morning) she was willing to accept any flaws or misgivings Harry had. Wrong choices or huge mistakes, whatever it was, she was ready for the real Harry.

Lavender knew that Harry was looking at her again, and she turned to him, hoping that he wouldn't turn away again with that look on his face; the look of pain and love, both mixed together. Turning to face him, she noticed the way his eyes were constantly moving around, not staying fixed in one place too long.

He's holding back, he's hiding

But what I can't decide,

Why won't he be the hero I know he is?

The hero I see inside?

Can you feel the love tonight?

The peace the evening brings.

The world, for once, in perfect harmony,

With all its living things.

But Harry soon made his choice, looking at Lavender firmly, he decided. Whatever he had done in the past was in the past, and someday he would tell Lavender all of his faults if she was willing to listen. If she wouldn't listen or if she decided that she couldn't accept something as horrifying as an imperfect Harry Potter, she was not what he needed.

Looking at each other intently, Harry leaned towards Lavender, thrilled to notice that Lavender leaned to him as well. Their lips met in a tentative first kiss; sweet and unsure. Wrapping his arms around Lavender, Harry felt their teeth scrape momentarily. Lavender didn't mind, she only deepened the kiss.

'Nothing is perfect,' as she always constantly told herself.

Can you feel the love tonight?

you needn't look too far,

Stealing through,

The night's uncertainties.

Love is where they are.

--

Hermione turned away from the window, her face drawn. Turning to Ron, Hermione noticed his face pulled up in shock, as well.

"And if he falls in love tonight," she said, her voice shaking slightly, "It can be assumed-" she stopped; her vocal chords were refusing to follow her.

Ron picked up where she left off, patting her on the shoulder as he did. "His carefree days with us are history."

"In short our pal is doomed."

Hermione dissolved completely and Ron shamelessly felt a tear slip down his cheek. Wrapping his arms around Hermione, they both cried for their love lost friend.
