There's Something About Mary

Chapter Seven

Mary looked through all her shopping. She got mostly expensive stuff...expensive stuff she didn't at all need, or even want.

Pink, satin silk dress robes...

...?

What a waste of money. Mary discarded it onto a pile she made on her bed of things she didn't want; most of the things pink and shoes. She didn't need shoes; she was happy with her own.

A wizard photo album, somehow, reminded her of Harry. She felt awkward at the look he gave her when she stopped him from leaving so she could ask him to dinner. Why was it so hard? She knew he was going to accept.

She opened it, wanting to see how many pages were in there. When she bought it, she planned on filling it with pictures of her and Draco. Okay, maybe she was going a little bit too far with the whole, 'I'm the only female follower to Draco Malfoy and that makes me special' bit.

She laughed at her little bragging, and gasped and dropped the album, once she saw the first picture.

And she thought she was going too far with her and Draco...

There was a picture in there of her and Harry the first night they went out. She slowly reached for the picture, and took it out of the album, her mouth open in confusion. Her picture of herself smiled and waved at her. Harry wrapped his arm around her shoulders and hugged her close, also smiling. Obviously, the two in the picture had fallen in love, all on their own. They looked at each other and kissed. Seeing this, Mary shrieked and dropped the picture. How dare she! She was snogging Potter in the picture! Mutiny! Betrayal!

Destiny hooted at Mary's outburst, and looked around the room.

Mary looked at her owl, and grabbed a piece of parchment from her bedside table, and a quill.

Slick-

Sorry I ran out of there like that, but I was supposed to be out with Harry, we somehow got separated, and I ended up there. Besides, I couldn't have stayed out too long...my mum and granddad would've gotten suspicious. Of course not of you and I, no, about Harry and me. I didn't want them to think that after one date and one shopping trip Harry and I started sleeping together! My brother already thinks that! How embarrassing! Well, I've been invited to an engagement party. Harry wants to take me to Ginny Weasley's engagement party to celebrate her and Neville getting married. Who's Neville? You failed to mention him to me. Well, I accepted, no doubt. What could I do? Doesn't Ginny Weasley still like you? That's pretty funny. I have a question: Can pictures fall in love with each other? Like, if my brother got a picture taken with some girl he likes, but doesn't like in that way, can the picture versions of them fall in love? Just a speaking hypothetically question, about my brother. Well, write me back when you have the chance, I know that you're busy. Don't ask me how, I can tell when you're in London, you have business to attend to.

CrazyMary

She rolled up the parchment and tied it to Destiny's leg. "To give you something to do," Mary said as she let the owl out of her window. "Bring this to Slick. Knockturn Alley. The usual hotel."

The owl hooted and flew off.

Mary turned around and grabbed the picture. The two were now trying to take each other's clothes off. "No, no, no!" Mary scolded. The pictures stopped kissing and turned to her in shock. Mary stashed the picture in her mini purse, and, with a quick look around for no reason, apparated to Weasley's Wizard Wheezes.

One of the twins looked up as Mary apparated into the shop. He smiled brightly at her. "Hello, Mary! Glad to see you're okay. What you need?"

Mary walked up to the cashier counter. "Hello, Fred," she said with a sigh, "or George. Where's Harry?"

He nodded. "Fred," he said, smirking at her good luck of getting him right the first time. He turned to the back room. "Oy! Harry! Mary's here!"

Harry quickly appeared at the door and smiled at her. She motioned for him to her with her finger, looking around her. Harry did so, and she pulled him outside.

"What's up?" Harry asked as soon as they got out of the shop and Mary let him go.

Mary took out the picture, looked at it, and showed it to him. "Can pictures do that?" she asked.

Harry took the picture from her, and started laughing. "I've never seen them do this before," he said through his chuckles.

Mary nodded, smiling widely, practically laughing herself. "Look at that, they're practically slobbering all over each other. It's kind of disturbing to look at."

Harry stopped laughing. He looked at her under his eyebrows. Disturbing? He didn't think so. He thought it a hint from the picture. Did this mean they were meant together?

Mary looked at him, wondering why he wasn't laughing any more, and her face fell. No, he wasn't thinking what she thought he was thinking, right? Now is the perfect time, Mary!

"Harry," she said just as Harry said her name. They both looked down and laughed uncomfortably.

Harry looked at her. "You first."

Mary shot her head up. She looked at the shop and saw Fred, George, and Ron peeping through the window. She gave them a dirty look, and they took that their cue to continue with what they were doing. She looked back at Harry, pleased that she got the Weasleys scared.

"Harry," she said, gathering up her courage. "Would you like to go to dinner some time? Well, just to make up for what I did last night. I feel incredibly guilty. I'm sorry. I'd've come and tell you if I wasn't about to v-"

"I'd love to," Harry said quickly. He looked at her with determination.

"Oh," Mary said, said, blushing under his stare. "Great. When are you free?"

Harry shrugged. Mary noticed he did that a lot around her. "I'm coming over tonight, eating out with Ron and Hermione tomorrow, I'll be free the night after."

Mary nodded. "Why don't I come with you tomorrow?"

Harry gave her a confused expression. He voiced his thoughts. "What? I thought you didn't like Hermione."

Mary shrugged, noticing she's starting to that a lot around him as well. "I was thinking about that. Well, since she's your friend, I thought, maybe I could learn to like her." Besides, it isn't the fact that she's rude to me or anything, she's just jealous and I like to rub it in her face. It's quite fun, actually. Mary smiled at this thought.

Harry laughed. "I guess there's no getting away from you, is there?"

Mary shook her head, which made Harry smile wider. So, maybe she thought these two in the picture were a sign as well as he did?

Mary looked up and smiled as she saw her owl fly above them, descending towards Knockturn Alley. Harry looked up and saw her as well. "That looks like your owl, Mary," he said. Mary nodded.

She looked back at the shop, and stopped smiling. She rolled her eyes towards Harry. "Can't you tell them to leave us alone?" she asked desperately.

Harry looked down at her, and at the store. He smiled and turned back at Mary after Ron winked at him. "I think I should get back to work," he said.

Mary nodded her agreement. She turned to leave, but turned back around to him. His back was turned as he reached out to the door. "Harry!" she called. Harry turned to look at her, his eyebrows raised. Mary shrugged. "When you coming over tonight?"

Harry looked back at the Weasley's. "I don't think it would be very long. I still have to go back to my house, feed Hedwig, get dressed...I'll be over around five I think."

Mary nodded. "Harry!" she called again. He smiled and nodded. "I'm sorry I made you waste all that money on me. I can't believe I even thought about buying pink things. And shoes, I hate shoes."

At saying this, Harry laughed, and shook his head. "See you later, Mary," he said as he went back into the shop.

Mary watched as the three Weasley brothers crowded Harry. Harry looked down at the picture, and looked back outside. He saw Mary still standing there. Her eyes opened wide, and she turned around and started to walk off. Harry ran out the shop, and ran to her.

"Mary!" he called. Mary spun around. He handed her the picture. She looked down at it. The two were now holding hands and Mary was leaning on Harry's shoulder, her eyes closed, smiling. Mary looked back at Harry. He stood in front of her and smiled. "It's for you," he said. He, nervously, leaned forward and placed a kiss on her cheek. "See you tonight." He turned around and walked back to the shop.

Mary shook her head and apparated home before tears came to her eyes. Damn her for being human! If she wasn't human, than she wouldn't feel guilty for someone whom she wasn't supposed to like! She fell on her bed and covered her face with her hands. He liked her! He really liked her! She was a woman, and a human. That's what she blames her guilt on. It's all those two important things!

She shook her head. "What're you making me do, Draco?" she whispered.
