There's Something About Mary

Chapter three

The musical continued, for another hour or so. Mary never thought she would get this hooked on a musical before. Her mouth was open, and tears ran freely down her cheeks in the last song.

"The end of the music of the night!" the phantom sang.

It ended with one of the dancers (Mary couldn't remember her name) in the underground lake. She walked up to the chair where the phantom had sat him, and covered himself with his cape.

The dancer grabbed the cloak, but there was nothing there, only the phantom's mask.

Mary gasped, and the lights dimmed off. She wiped her tears, and smiled. She stood up and applauded as the characters ran out and bowed. She cheered incredibly loud when Christine, Raoul, and the Phantom came out.

---

"So, I take it you enjoyed the musical, then?" Harry asked as they were walking home.

Mary nodded, again wiping tears away. "Wow. I never saw anything like it. I actually never had seen a musical before, or a play for that matter!"

Harry chuckled as he shoved his hands in his overcoat pockets. "So, how old are you?" he asked, wanting to know if she was still a Hogwarts student or no. She was so small that she could pass for a fifteen year old, and yet she was mature enough to act as if she were thirty. Hopefully, she was fifteen and not thirty.

"I'm, eighteen. Just got out of Hogwarts," she replied, sounding proud. "A Ravenclaw I was. The brightest, and the best," she added, knowing that Harry was Gryffindor (who didn't?) and that he probably would kick her for saying that.

"The best? I'm not sure about that. You just got out of Hogwarts? You're a year younger than me! How can that be?"

She looked at him like he was the village idiot. "How? Simple! I was born a year younger than you, idiot!"

Harry stopped walking and smirked at her. "Idiot?"

"You heard me! Idiot!"

Harry nodded, and continued walking. "Idiot am I? Well, I wouldn't call you the smartest person in the world either; and I don't care that you were in Ravenclaw or not!"

Mary's eyes went wide. It was so fun calling him an idiot, for he was in her own little world that revolved around Slick.

She continued walking after him, her tears from the night's performance completely forgotten. Actually, the night's performance in general was forgotten. Now the topic of the night was who was smarter, the Ravenclaw or the Gryffindor?

CrazyMary

I hear you had fun on your night with Potter? What did you go see? No need to answer; I already know, of course. So, I am now in London. You know the where, I hope? I expect to see you within forty-eight hours. No need to bring Potter. I have no need for him, at the moment. If I do not see you in forty-eight hours, I will send someone to personally come and get you, do I make myself clear?

Slick

Mary slumped in her bed, the letter in her hand, which was dangling off the side of her bed. Her owl was hooting, annoyingly, to get her attention, and to write a reply.

Mary groaned. "Not tonight, stupid bird," she grumbled.

The letter fell to the floor when Mary turned on her side, so she was facing the wall, and she closed her eyes and fell asleep, dreaming that she was Christine in "The Phantom of the Opera".
